'The war is over, so said the speaker with the flight suit on.' Direct reference to George W. Bush's infamous Mission Accomplished speech in Afghanistan. For those keeping track, that war lasted another EIGHTEEN YEARS.

@@tracyperez1755 That's what you get with a system built on procuring more and more profit. You don't even need a war to show this, take the recession we got with Covid. The rich got out of the crisis even richer than before, guys like Bezos and Musk more than doubled their wealth while the poor and the working class got poorer. People can't afford to live! These capitalists and landlords are literally just societal parasites.

"Dirty Harry" contains samples from these 4 songs: Lafayette Afro Rock Band - Baba Hya Damon Albarn - I Need A Gun Eddie Bo and the Soul Finders - We're Doing It (The Thang) Pt. II Giant - Queen of Downs You may have recognized one or more of the samples, and that could be why it sounded familiar to you. Great reaction!

@Steely_Fran 3 жыл бұрын
@@imanoli41I understand that. I included "I Need A Gun" because: 1) It was listed in the sample credits 2) It was officially released in December 2003 on Albarn's solo EP, Demoncrazy. Which was almost 2 years before "Dirty Harry" was released on Demon Days (November 2005). So it's possible that MrLboyd heard "I Need A Gun" prior to hearing "Dirty Harry" and recognized it.

Yeah, the "speaker with the flight suit on" is a direct reference to the infamous Mission Accomplished speech where W did photo ops in a flight suit in 2003.
@zackmarkham4240
@zackmarkham4240 3 жыл бұрын
For those outside of America or born after that presidency, W refers to George W Bush. Also known as Dub, Dubya, and several I can't remember. My fave is 'that chimp who wrote his own speeches and still got them wrong'. I don't lean to any political side at all, cause the government is corrupt, owned by money, and the nation is screwed no matter who gets in office, but W was fun just cause of his accent and how seemingly not-smart he was.

the lyricism is clever and devestating and the video? genius, notice how dude emerges from the sand ultimately lamenting he used to dance and thats all he wanted to do, instead the likelihood is he died in the desert for nothing (like you said about poverty) wanting to escape having nothing and the government promises you all that and more, never delivering, not divulging the particulars of evil you'll be expected to undertake, and just leaving you to it in a desolate location a fully expendable pawn

I think the lyrics for this part is pretty interesting "I need a gun 'cause all I do is dance." They need a gun for the terrible "crime" of trying to live and thrive in a harsh world. They've committed the "sin" of trying to live fulfilling lives where they can dance and therefore need a gun to defend themselves from those ready to enact "justice".
