“Once you got a theory of how the thing works everybody wants the next thing to be just like the first.” This is a reference to their fans who were crazy about their first album, Hybrid Theory, but then complained about nearly every album after that due to their sound gradually changing over time. There’s always been a group of people would worship Hybrid Theory but trash everything outside of that album and it’s always been strange to me. I like to think Linkin Park has a little bit of everything for everyone.

Sadly this is most people I talk to about Linkin Park, meanwhile it's by far what I listen the least to from them, thing is I also grew and changed.
@teunis35952 жыл бұрын
@@krogan3760 I enjoy all of their work for different reasons. People just got to see it from their perspective. Their lives are completely different compared to 10-20 whatever years ago. They can't just force an album that doesn't capture what they're going through at the time. It's okay if people don't like the new, but they always act like the earlier work is gone. Like 'I miss the times when they were this and that'. Well... their work is still there go and listen to it.

Yeah, I don’t get it either. I’m a die hard Hybrid Theory fan been listening to it since it was new but I think their other albums are just as good.

I always think about other bands and how people end up complaining that all their albums sound the same haha, its like you cant win. But im glad LP changed it up and tried different things, thats what makes them and their music so unique aside form their lyrsics. You can go back and listen to whatever your in the mood for.

I am someone who looks at Hybrid Theory as my fave album from them. However, I love how they evolved over time and changed. Nothing will ever replace Hybrid Theory due to it coming out in a time when I was suicidal, on the verge of running away, and felt I had no one I could go to or no one I could depend on, and for those reasons Hybrid Theory hits closer to home. As someone with this mindset I can understand why so many would complain about their changes. No album will be similar to the first, but also no album is like the other, and I love that. Too many wonderful songs throughout their whole career that would never have come about if they didn't take that chance to change and grow.
@caleeebm2 жыл бұрын
This is from their best album IMO: A Thousand Suns. The whole album needs to be listened to as one song in one sitting. It’s just so good. Also, I’m so glad you’re finally getting to see the HipHop side of Linkin Park. Their second album Reanimation is a complete hip hip remixed amazing version of their first album Hybrid Theory. It’s easily my favorite album after A Thousand Suns. Gets multiple listens a year. The rapper, Mike Shinoda has several side projects. After Chester died he came out with a rap album that centered on how he was dealing with Chester’s death. R.I.P.

I love/loved Linkin Park! Loved the fact they weren't just one single sound. They could play and sing about anything and it was great! Love Chester! Mike is phenomenal, too. Have to say the rest of the band isn't chopped liver and get over looked! Kinda wish I could've seen Linkin Park vs Disturbed singing Adele. Chester killed it but think David would kill it as well. Both are so vocally talented and inspire so many people.

I am hard pressed to say I have a "favorite" because they are all so good - but I agree wholeheartedly that A Thousand Suns was HIGHLY under-valued, underrated and underappreciated. I know when you get to "that level" expectations are a bitch, but people seriously slept on this album. I really feel it is a culmination of experimentation focused and mastered correctly - like a more mature Hybrid Theory with some slight political hits mixed in with the album (for the time when the war in Iraq was being ridiculed, to a lot of messed up governmental issues like Hurricane Katrina's mis-handling, at that time, they were echoed in that album) - it is just overall an epoch in time that will always be there. That was way too wordy - but the TLDR is it is dope.

Fort Minor is Mike Shinoda's hip hop side project. You should check some of that out. The most popular tracks from that are probably "Where'd You Go" (with Holly Brooke aka Skylar Grey on the hook) or "Remember the Name".

In this song, within the first verse, Mike Shinoda critiques Linkin Park fans. He states, "...Nor the same person tellin' you to forfeit the game..." This line refers to the song 'Point of Authority,' which is featured on the album. There's another reference to Linkin Park's debut album 'Hybrid Theory,' which achieved great success. He also delves into the notion that even a blueprint, like 'Hybrid Theory,' can be both a blessing and a curse. Once you establish a theory of how something works, everyone expects the next thing to be just like the first. In this particular verse, Shinoda is particularly direct in addressing the haters.

I'll second Fort Minor - great music that you'll like a lot. For Linkin Park specifically I have to STRONGLY recommend their album Reanimation (though for a lot of reasons these songs never get reacted to elsewhere, and they may not have live versions available). Reanimation is basically a full remix of their original Hybrid Theory album, but with features that really pay homage to hip hop, nu metal, and other genres the band clearly liked and integrated into their own music, in their own way.

This song is off of my favorite album by them, A Thousand Suns. Admittedly, it's not a lot of people's favorite album. It's got a fairly unique sound palette compared to most of their discography, so those who prefer Linkin Park's more commonly heard aesthetic don't necessarily find this album as appealing. One of the things I love the most about this album is that it's presented as a concept album, where for the most part, each track seamlessly transitions into the next. And although they keep the concept somewhat open ended. NY the end of the album you have a fairly good idea about the statement they're trying to make.
@markhayes6372 жыл бұрын
Try something from Reanimation, the fact that their second label release was a hip-hop remix of their first album tells you how close hip-hop is to the band and Mike in particular (as he is the main driver of it all). If you listen to the Xero sample tape and Hybrid Theory EP (both previous names of the band) you can really hear the hip-hop influence even more. Those tracks may not get as many views, although you never know if you stamp LP on it!

I've been listening to Linkin Park since around 8 years old. The point is just that I like the music; it's very catchy, like hits music. And then I became older and tried to listen to their whole discography and they're freaking amazing. Every album sound different, and very creative.
