Because he suffered a traumatic childhood and was likely sexually assaulted we must consider the effects of such abuse and release him from criminal accountability? Insulting nonsense. Those poor children. I can't say they will not perpetuate similar abuse on their own one day children, but it's encouraging to know they spoke up and told DCFS and police what and how they suffered. Every child sexual assault case should end similarly to this. The reason for the "kid gloves", as you put it, is because if they don't follow absolute procedure now, there are legal loopholes that could be used to allow this guy to go free. Think about what they do to people - who do what he did - in prisons... if they screw it up by getting all emotional and allowing themselves to take justice into their own hands while detaining him, it won't even be close to the amount of torture and retribution he will face from the other prisoners when they find out the kind of things that he was doing

With someone like this, they will likely be looking for some way to find is any sort of discrimination or anything along the lines of that, because they can use it to offset the flow of what's going to happen to them. So these officers are definitely acting out of the norm of what most people would do, but they're doing it to cover their own ass and by doing so, ensure that lawyers can't pick apart what they did or that no accusations of "transphobia" are even able to be considered in a court case. Yes they do get hormones in prison and they get to go to the prison of their choice, ie a woman's prison where they often go on to S/A the vulnerable women serving time. I’m so terrified for what happened to that nine and fifteen year old. My god. To know this man showed his kids explicit photos of their own mother while abusing them is horrid. I PRAY that family is getting ONGOING therapy, for a very long time. Those kids need to learn how to process. I was fine until age 22. Then my whole world crumbled, I became extremely agoraphobic (can’t leave the house) and started displaying PTSD, but also started to realize the signs I’d already been showing (social anxiety, anger issues, etc).
