These are some of the BEST videos I have watched on Literary Analysis / Reading and LITERATURE in general. How it as not found more traffic this way is beyond me!! Am treasuring each and every video uploaded by you (Mr Lewandowski). And these are directed towards Grade 9 kids? I wish my 10th grader would have gad you teaching him. He is a straight A star student who didn't get the right English teachers and has thus developed a phobia of the Subject and finds NO purpose in this endeavour. He's taking his IGCSE boards this year and will be doing IB Lit & Lang next two years. I am squirreling these videos away for him. He has a "science mind" (if there is such a thing) and THIS method and language you use to explain is "scientific" and he'll GET it. Thank you SO much for the generosity of uploading these videos - such in depth lectures. ♥

Harold Bloom is my go-to guy for western cannon stuff, particularly poetry: Chaucer --> Shakespeare --> Milton. I would recommend his books Shakespeare and the Invention of the Human and The Western Cannon. For non-fiction, I tend to get interested in certain writers and work backwards and forwards through their influences. One thinker who inspired me early on was French social critic and historian Michel Foucault.

@@ThomasLewandowski thank you but what do you think of The greatest minds and ideas of all time by Will Durant, is he a respected scholar and should I trust him?

@@stayinawesum Yes, he's respected. He won the Pulitzer Prize. I haven't read it, but it sounds like something that would be worth your time.
