This is the first time I've heard of this maple tree. I've now started to pay more attention to the bark of my trees. Mr. Maple podcast

Have y'all considered doing a subscription for collectors? Something possibly like a mystery maple each month. It would be a neat little treat for everyone each month and could be a good way of introducing collectors to cultivars they may not otherwise have purchased. Just an idea.

4:15 no doubt you guys are Tree Geeky enough, but in bonsai it's actually preferred to "show" a Japanese Maple or most deciduous trees out of leaf, as it shows the branching and silhouette the best.

never buy a grafted arakawa no matter how low the graft is. the stock wont have the scaled bark as the scion, which is straight-up ugly. Buy cutting or air-laying.... even the seedlings r better than those low grafts.
@MrMapleShow Жыл бұрын
This is wrong. Also good luck finding that 😂 no one offers that. They can make great plants from graft. Go watch our walk though of Maple Walk

@@MrMapleShow You're a great JM collectionist, grafting artist, and many more..... That's why I always enjoy watching your videos. But what I mean by low grafting is not suitable for this particular variety for bonsai usage is the lack of consistency will become quite obvious with time. Imagine a smooth-skinned nabari with alligator-skinned trunk. Unless you think bonsai is only about trunk and taper.....

@@stuartxu8069 what we always recommend is buying a grafted tree for the ground to create bonsai from as air layers and rooted cuttings

@@MrMapleShow Is this variety's self roof quite weak?
