Original Far Rockaway station was elevated. the part over Mott ave was removed in late 1955 in preparation for the A train taking over the line from Far Rockaway to Rockaway Park and across Jamiaca Bay to the el at Liberty Ave. the ground level terminal station for the LIRR was built in 1958.

2:26 The edge of the platform at Inwood has arrows labeled 'Direction to New York' and 'Direction to Points East'. The latter is kinda funny because the 'Points East' is just Far Rockaway which is southwest of Inwood.

Growing up, Far Rock was my "home branch." Though a bit slow going (?), the view out the front of the M3 on this line brings back many fond memories! Nice job recording it!

It’s a “spring switch.” It’s meant for a train to go through it without breaking it.

@@MrMaster767 that makes more sense. The Spring/Slip Switch in Concourse Yard (NYCT IND) can only handle speeds required to go through the wash, which would be less than 10MPH

They are used so Cars don't turn onto the tracks because their GPS told them to.

The switch to the West of the station is an automatic safety switch. When trains make trailing point moves through them, they snap over.

They get permission from Valley Tower to proceed from the station onto main track.
