I'm not a native myself so i can relate but she's a big influencer, she's teaching other people and making a sh*tload of money. Yeah, this is the exact problem I have with her. When you teach people something you must double check the information you're presenting to people cus you're responsible for what you teach. I'm an English tutor myself, but I'm only teaching my students the things I'm 100% sure about. And even though I kinda feel like my English is good, I still watch lots of educational videos and read some useful articles to improve my skills. Sometimes I'm shocked that I didn't know some very basics while being a C1 speaker. And I'm a Russian myself, and as a child I used to watch Marina's videos a lot cus it seemed fun and practical. However... Now I know that the info she shared is false. It's sad that English learners face such problems.

Самое прикольное для меня - то, что когда я смотрела то самое видео Люси и Марины несколько месяцев назад, я сразу подумала, что это нетипично с точки зрения грамматики и нелогично абсолютно, когда говорят Why won't I be? в контексте ответа на вопрос как дела. Но я сразу подумала, что Люси бы, наверное, перезаписала тот момент и попросила Марину ответить по-другому. Оказывается, у Люси как у британки слишком много такта, и вот поэтому настоящая правда открылась мне только сейчас. Я вижу, что другие тоже высказались насчет излишней вежливости, когда она, откровенно говоря, вредит другим. Как здорово, что Кевин подробно на эту тему высказался. Thanks a lot, Kevin, my best English teacher.

Marina’s reply was extremely rude. She should have known better, considering she claims to be residing in America. It’s not just British, who are tactful and polite. Other English speaking natives would think it’s unnecessary rude to reply like that, but they wouldn’t correct a foreigner in order not to offend her. It is not Lucy’s job to teach someone who publicly claims to be highly knowledgeable..when she ( Marina) is clear Not..she is very arrogant and ignorant..

I cannot agree here. Non-natives can teach other people - especially those with a low level of acquisition because for beginners and children, it’s easier to work with the person that has the same native language as you. Especially since bilinguals are a rare occasion. But for intermediate+ students, I cannot agree more, the best option is a native speaker.

This channel is not only great for non-native but also native speakers who are trying to unlearned all of these mistakes. As an expat, the "Tube and Underground" parts got to me. I laughed so hard because I knew I wasn't crazy when I kept saying subway while everyone around me said underground, metro, or tube. 😂

Thank you so much for taking time to correct the mistakes of other "teachers'" And a special thank you for "suggestion" pronunciation! I had no idea the first "g" is pronounced. I have been always reducing it. So great to learn new and correct things in my favorite language!❤

Such a strange collaboration Lucy and Marina. I love Lucy and i understand why she's explaining British pronunciation to me, but what does it have to do with Marina? She isn't a native speaker and explains to us how American native English sounds! Weird!

Her mistake is to position herself as a teacher. She is a good entrepreneur and could just have hired professional/native speakers as teachers. The idea of their startup is really good. Nevertheless she is a great motivator, and can teach how to make business, youtube, reels and startups. And her level of English is more than enough to be very successful in the United States and she got her citizenship recently. She still has russian thinking though, no matter how she wants to dissociate herself from the russian world.

Marina sounds absolutely American in comparison to British. That's why Lucy made that video with her, I believe. But, I can't understand why not with a native speaker, to avoid such mistakes and also to be precise in examples, not superficial 😅 she should have an American English teacher in her team to correct her before posting videos!!! And that teacher should be American, because that's the English she thinks that masters!

the only part where Marina might have a point is when she mentioned the T is pronounced like an R because although the rolled R is a sound present in many different languages, there's this softer R that happens to be pretty close to the fast d in English like in Spanish "pero" (but), or "pera" (pear). So I think that was what she meant rather than the rolled R
