Mark really like this, amazing to think all the different species living around the UK coastline. Why spend 100's/1000's of pounds on a coral garden/exotic reef fish, when for the cost of your fuel and sturdy pair of boots you can create such an amazing tank.

Very interesting, I just subscribed to your channel. I had a local sea aquarium , and miss it so much. Living on a isle of wight and so close to the beach I had to have a go. I had a 6ft×2×18" tank and used the filters from my ciclid days.i wish I took photos of my setup I too put baby bass and mullet in there, I could not pull myself away especially at night with a blue light. The great thing it cost me no money because it all came out of the sea. And it all went back alive in the end. Looking forward to seeing more of your channel, good to reminisce.

Luv in everything in it. So exciting going foraging. I so wanna go do it down our beaches but it’s very different to UK shores. No awesome smooth shaped stones like I saw in yours, it’s all rough limestoney look rock I think. Mind you it’s been yonks since I’ve been down to adventure amongst rock pools. I’ll tell ya a story Mark, when I was a young kid maybe 9 or 10 years old, I was with my niece down one of our beached looking into lil pools seeing teeny lil crabs, tiny fish or sorts and I reached under the seaweedy edge of a rock pool to encourage a tiny crab out, no more than 1. 5 cm probably. As I did so a touched something soft and this lil octopus swam out. I thought at the time how cute it was kinda grey bluish with spots...also only about 1 to 2 cm big....I realised later it was a blue ring octopus, so I guess Im kinda lucky it didn’t sting/bite me. Was so so tiny n cute. I’ll always remember that memory even though I have hardly any thing I recall from childhood.

I got a statement about bi-valves! If you are dead set of keeping clams, scallops or other filter feeders, it seems a smaller tank makes for better success. I have kept a flame scallop alive for more than twice the average captive lifespan in a 36g, and i have NEVER target fed it. It's the same with my sun coral. I have never target fed it, yet it's growing

Great work! Dear Mark, I don't have much knowledge in reef tanks so I wonder if high/low tide simulation would be beneficial to such a tank ( cycles of wet and "dry"). I know it would be technically challenging but not impossible.
