Nice vid again - like the running commentary. Yes this definitely beats the exhausting, head banging, death metal music that a lot of the Amuurican uploads force on us calm tea drinking, Brits.

Bristlenose are a really good fish to have a go at breeding since the all the factors which contribute to success you outlined in the video are relevant for any of the plec species. Good to hear that the new stuff arrived and that the filter in the bristlenose tank seems to have achieved a full cycle - nice one, man.
@MARKSAQUATICS6 жыл бұрын
Yes mate full cycle. water is pristine now. 👍😀

MARK'S AQUATICS sounds good to me and it's another poke in the eye for some of the clowns online saying there is no such thing as a full cycle, biohome is fake etc. etc. Why anyone wouldn't want a full cycle is beyond me, lol

Nice work Mark.... Grab some REPASHY gel food for your Pleco's. It's unbelievable and is not full of fillers. Good stuff indeed.
@SandyDoughty6 жыл бұрын
Love Repashy food I use Solvent Green and Morning Wood, I combine the two when making it! Plecos love it, and it is much better for them as I found the the commercial tablets cause bloat.

Great video Mark. This will certainly help me to get my Bristle nose plecos to breed. On the other hand. I do have them in a heavily planted aquarium and do not see them often. For all I know they did breed and the other community fish got to the little ones.😳 But I will move a male and female to a separate tank and try again. Once again, good informative video.

@@MARKSAQUATICS Mind if I ask, what do you do with the fry when they get a bit bigger? I have at least 12 bristlenose babies ... 89 litre tank
@benshaw38916 жыл бұрын
Aquarium co-op interviewed an expert pleco breeder a while back, and his top tip for survival was to start feeding the fry after a few days, and not let the yolk sack deplete fully. Which actually makes a lot of sense because in nature, the fry would scavenge whatever and whenever they could.
@MARKSAQUATICS6 жыл бұрын
Nice bit of info there Ben cheers.
@BoingBB6 жыл бұрын
Wow... you've done well to get them breeding so quickly Mark! I'd just like to say that they love bogwood to graze on when they get a little bigger, in fact the ones I had found a hollow underneath a large chunk of bogwood and that's where they laid their eggs. The male looked after them - in fact I never saw him come out to feed for days and I was acually wondering what he was doing under there (all I could see was his tail). Then one day all these little albino ancistrus were all over the tank, stuck to the glass, the plants, the wood and rocks. On the second breeding I was watching more carefully and a couple of times I saw one or two escaping a bit too early (they still had yolk sacs attached) but the male caught them and put them back under the wood. They were easy to raise as they eat almost anything you put in there! I still have that chunk of bogwood so I'm looking to see which tank to put it in now! lol ... Barry

' water changes every 2 days" Thay eat zucchini and a catfish pallet and good flake food. The pallets are very good for conditioning for females. I'm in new zealand by the way..

And I've got them in with all my live bearing fish and they don't touch any of the little new born fish. You can get some cheap pleco caves by getting terra cotta watering stakes from a garden center. They come in different sizes, both in width and length, so you can try to match what your pleco would need.
