This child's quality of life has drastically improved thanks to you, Neel. He was probably not able to hear much at all, making school and life in general so difficult for him. I'm sure it's cases such as these that keep you going during even your most difficult times, knowing how much you are able to instantly help people. Kudos to you and others like you!

Huge amount of skill in this procedure. Very precise suction in exact places to bring this plug out. I can imagine many High Street oufits referring this back to GP or ENT or even worse just ignoring it after removing lateral wax.

I can’t believe how much wax the little guy had! For whatever reason he creates so much wax, he’s looking at a lifetime of audiology care. Honestly, Neel, thinking about my older child at 5, I’m not sure who I felt more empathy for - the child, you or the mother. I hope he was happy that (1) he could hear and (2) he was going to be a KZbin star. Thanks to all for sharing this interesting case!

Once again your professionalism and empathy towards your young patient shines thru Neel. A lot of wax for a young child, is that down to their genetics or was it an ear condition causing so much wax?

Hi Neel, Such care and concern for your patients. You clearly have a gift for working with many types of people, including children. One question: You may have already addressed this in another video, but will you start using two screens again, with the procedure in the larger view and you in the second screen at the bottom right? I really enjoyed watching as you explained each procedure.

Truly wondering how it gets this bad at such a young age. I've said before that I've never experienced this sort of thing and that's including the fact that I've always used cotton buds to clean my ears in the morning, after a shower, etc.
@mindymorgan84796 ай бұрын
I have a question. Is there any numbing medications that wouldn't make the canal swell that would help with the pain of the procedure? A child so young is probably scared of the pain and also the sounds. I can he also see the screen? I think it would help for one so young to see the wax coming out and that he can see the ear isn't being hurt. He can see there is no cutting and that the ear has stuff that needs to come out. Also explaining the sound means that tue suction isn't sucking as hard so, shouldn't hurt. I know you know this I'm sure. But at times we keep info from children to not scare them. And it makes it worse even.

I have a 3 year old and notice that she has some dark wax in her ear quite deep down. I have tried using olive oil a couple of times but she cries whenever I try. Is there anything else I can do? Whenever she’s had a check up at the doctors they check her ears and never mention they’re blocked but I can see dark wax. I’m worried it’ll affect her hearing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What would cause a young child to have such a build-up of wax? Does this mean this child is more likely to have more ear-wax build-up problems in their life compared to other children? (Sorry for the potentially dumb questions, I honestly don’t know.)
@kathrynmettelka72166 ай бұрын
Poor kid. He must have been miserable for some time before the appointment as we can see from the amount and darkness of the wax. I am sure he feels better now. It’s hard for parents to know the extent of the problem when they don’t have the instruments or expertise to observe the blockage.

Neel. Your assessments of hearing loss seem subjective 'better' 'worse' etc. I expect there are precision instruments available to score, but is there room for a small handheld device that sounds graduated chime sounds from zero to say 10. Score before wax removal 'before procedure can hear chime 7 and up' After procedure 'can hear chime 2 and up'. A number is always better than an impression. Shouldn't be that expensive.
