Dental professional here 🙋🏻♀️🦷 It’s important to brush in the morning (to remove the bacteria after sleeping) and at night (to remove food or beverage from the day). We recommend a fluoride toothpaste if you tend to get cavities. Flossing is always a good idea to remove the food and debris from the day of. Yes, we can tell if you aren’t brushing or flossing. However, speaking for myself, I don’t try to guilt my patients if they are at least trying or even using floss picks. Your toothbrush can’t get in between your teeth like floss can, this is where we tend to see cavities in the “flossing zone”. I wish oral health was taken as serious as overall health. The bacteria in your mouth can enter the bloodstream and cause further complications for those who have systemic diseases. Hope this helps! Take care of yourself and your smile! 🤩🦷🪥

As far as mouth rinses, AVOID ALCOHOL!! Sorry I got excited and paused the video right at that part 😂 Alcohol is VERY drying to the oral environment and we don’t want that! If you brush and floss, you’re doing just fine! I typically don’t recommend any mouth rinses unless you get cavities (fluoride rinse), have dry mouth (lubricating rinses available), or periodontal disease/had a recent deep cleaning to treat periodontal disease (antimicrobial rinse). NO RINSE SHOULD CONTAIN ALCOHOL! That is all 😊

Thank you for all this help! I’m getting braces tomorrow, I’m dramatic and have low pain tolerance, plus I don’t know exactly how to clean my teeth properly with braces. Help?
@rachelberes59 Жыл бұрын
@@beauuby not a professional but I’ve been in your shoes with getting braces. Just as a forewarning your teeth will be sore for a couple days, but it’ll wear off. Stay away from hard foods for the first couple of days and try to eat softer food. Sadly you can’t chew gum or any hard candy, cause it’ll either get stuck or a bracket will break off. In terms of flossing, that’s a tough one because of the wires but there’s things called threaders. You just attach your floss at the end of it and it helps get the floss in between the wire and your teeth or to save yourself time, you can use a water pick. Also, make sure you brush your teeth and brackets really well, food will get stuck and you don’t want food caught in your braces. Again, not a professional but I wanted to share some of the things that I learned while having braces. Good luck!! And I hope everything goes well for you!!

Omg it is THIS video. I have been struggling with some type of fungal issue on my scalp for years and since I have curly hair I let them dry naturally after washing them. I saw dermatologists, some said it was stress related, some gave me references of super expensive chemical shampoos to use. It got to points of big chunk of skin detaching and lots of bleeding at times, I was ashamed. Never saw the advice to dry my scalp. So even though I cannot blow dry my hair I now.diffuse my scalp gently to not mess with the curls but enough to dry the scalp. My problem is GONE and I couldn't remember which content creator told to do this. So so grateful for this help which made my scalp healthier, my hair is growing better and I am much less stressed because turn out that it was the other way around hahaha. The issue was making me stressed (itchy in public dandruff falling etc...) Thank you so much !!!

We wear "underclothes" so we can dribble pee or poop on them without getting it on our outer, more expensive, clothes. So 'splain why you need underclothes if you are changing all your clothes every day, hmmm? If someone changes outer clothing (one reason men should get their trousers changed is because they stand when peeing and the spray can easily reach trousers) every day, you can just nope out of the expense of underclothes. Go commando. But you can require a lot less showering if you change your underpants (bra if you are a big woman or a heavy sweater under there) every day.

As I was falling of course my biggest fear was that I'd land on one of our sweet girls. Instead I landed on their water fountain. Surprisingly the plastic fountain survived other than spilling, and I ended up with a gigantic bruise on the underside of my upper arm and on my back from where I also hit the bucket of Tidy Cats litter we kept in there. As a dental professional, I agree on the mouthwash advice. I recommend the use of a tongue scraper, which is also the best aid to get rid of halitosis (bad breath). The flossing though.. in the Netherlands we don't advise flossing.. instead it is recommended to use interdental brushes once a day. There is a lot of research that shows that it is absolutely necessary and the best cleaning aid to use in the approximal interdental spaces to prevent gingivitis, periodontitis and dental caries. Interdental brushes work better than for example flossing, tooth picks, soft picks and water pick. And what about the type of toothbrush... electric toothbrushing is way more effective than manual brushing according to research. Also the type of electric toothbrush is important. I always advice Oral-B (iO): it has the best mechanism which is also proven through clinical research. Healthy gums and teeth are very important. There is a lot of evidence on the relation between dental health and general health.

Make sure the electric toothbrush isn't one of those dumb ones that spins, that can damage the connection from the gum to the tooth and open up pockets. Ones that oscillate are better. As someone who hated flossing for a long time, I made it pretty easy on myself. My dentist was fine with the use of plackers as opposed to traditional floss, and the one thing that really opened me up to flossing was dipping the plackers in a cup of water when I finish flossing. Actually seeing what comes out gives me more of a reason to do it. Before that it felt like I wasn't really doing anything and I think that tends to dishearten alot of people.
@cutelittlemoose Жыл бұрын
I have a butler “GUM” brand version of plackers that has a roll of floss(spool of thread shaped) in it so I pull new floss, wrap it, and let it dig, rinsing like you cause it is so gross and I feel weird not cleaning it before attacking another tooth. I mostly use the one I do cause it existed first and is better for my arthritic hands, but I find I can control it so much better this way anyway… I do have, for bigger or stringier (ie veggies or shredded meat that tries to be a bow tie around a tooth) food that is stubborn, also use the toothpick looking silicone cleaners (I think mostly ppl with braces use em, but they are really good for the shape of my teeth). My only missing thing now is a waterpik (when I went to replace my trusty old one, ugh, the prices for much less durable looking ones hurt my brain a bit and I balked! Black Friday maybe lol…)-I actually LIKE using those a lot. I have since I was a kid… flossing for haters of flossing. Never had a cavity while using just that growing up (til a bad accident caused a lot of gum and root trauma and I had to layer up the defense, a med I had to start taking also bad on teeth). We all find our path to health. Dental health is tedious, admittedly, though. For me, I hated flossing bc my fingers both hated the actual material digging in (hence the waterpik rescue) and I REALLY hated my fingers being all in my mouth, still don’t love it lol. Little bits of sticky partly digested food on my fingers was always a bigger turn off than anything… especially if I’d eaten ANYTHING with garlic that was always harder to get the smell out from my hands! 🤣Kids are weird-well, to be more fair, humans are weird, kids the epitome of all things unrestrained, uncontrolled human!!

Yeah, I hear you. I actually sometimes pull out the floss and there is a little clump of gunk clinging to it. Every time I see that, I'm glad I'm doing that. Also, I heard somewhere that flossing first and brushing second is better because that way you brush off any gunk that you flossed out but got stuck to your teeth on the outside. This also logically made me floss out more stuff and made flossing feel more worth the effort. I still don't really like it, but I value it enough to do it at least every other day.

Say it louder for the people in the back! Thank you, Doctor Mike! Hairdresser here and I totally agree about the hair stuff! Shampoo is to clean the scalp and hair and you don't have to wash your hair everyday. It makes hair more oily when it’s washed more. When you wash you’re stripping your scalp of its natural oils it uses to moisturize that skin. When that oil is gone, your body produces more to replenish it. So the more you wash the more oil your scalp produces.

@@yamigirl2356 most of my sweat comes out of my scalp, so I can never do the "just put it up in a bun" nonsense bc the ACT of showering (even if the water isn't very hot) makes me sweat and makes my hair greasy. Same with just washing with water-only... bc the shower still makes me sweat. I've found no good solution, tbh... other than blow drying and then using "dry shampoo" (I just use rice powder and a big foundation-type brush) as if I never showered. It's not perfect but 🤷🏻. Another route for hyperhidrosis is through surgery. I recently went through an Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy, which completely changed my life. I had severe hyperhidrosis in my hands to the point of dripping constantly, and now, nothing. A video shedding light on this surgery would be amazing! 😄
@mariepage5475 Жыл бұрын
Great point to bring up. There are also medications like glycopyrrolate that help with severe hyperhidrosis. Make sure to educate yourself about the potential side effects of the surgery if you are considering it. For many it completely changes their life for the better, but not everyone is aware of the compensatory hyperhidrosis that can occur. Also botox treatment is not a permanent solution as they have to be done routinely, usually a few times a year. From someone else that sweats way too much, thanks for sharing. I'm happy for your drier days ahead.
@ItzFlip Жыл бұрын
@@mariepage5475 absolutely. For me personally and for most, the compensatory sweating is very minimal and definitely is worth permanently getting rid of sweating in your problem area. I’ve tried the whole bunch - anti perspirants, iontophoresis, glycopyrrolate, and witch hazel - none of which helped, at least in a severe hyperhidrosis context. I do definitely agree that people try other methods first; however, the surgery is minimally invasive and within a couple weeks, I was back to my daily routines, with absolutely no sweat. I personally wouldn’t recommend Botox either, as like you said, it is a temporary solution that must be done every 4-6 months, is very painful if it’s for the hands or feet and it does weaken your grip in those areas. Surgery by far was the best way to go for me. A video educating people on all these options would be awesome though!

People don't know that heat in general sooths itchy skin. Right at first, it can greatly increase the itchiness, but I think it causes a flood of histamine that then gets depleted and it stops itching. With armpit hair I highly advise trimming over shaving. That way it can still serve its purpose while being cleaner assuming you sweat a bit and get noticeable bo in your pits like me even with a good deodorant. I feel like this video either gives us the options of leaving it or shaving but I feel trimming is ideal. 3-7mm guard on a trimmer depending on your hair type and preferences. I use the same trimmer 7-9mm for pubes. Also always shave or trim clean hair and skin. It reduces irritation 10 fold. Yes you have to rinse off again after but it is worth it.

As for the other causes of bad breath even if you brush and floss like you should, discovering acid reflux was a real game changer (at least mentally)- as a teenager I grew up very conscious about my breath and was frustrated because despite doing all in my power it would just smell bad after a period of time despite me not eating anything. Then as I approached adulthood I started feeling frequent heartburn and decided to go to the doctor, that's when I discovered I had GERD, with my esophagus being incredibly inflammed and at the risk of developing esophageal cancer

I have had acid reflux my entire life and just keep getting put on omeprazole. I feel like the flap that holds food down is almost nonexistent for me because my food comes back up into my mouth so often. How do I go about getting a doctor to take this seriously and take a closer look??
@Saito57G Жыл бұрын
@@SharkBait-0317 Personally I am on esomeprazole since I discovered the issues (this was done by the general medicine doctor) but after my esomperazole dose was gone the reflux came back. So from that point it was purely my own initiative - I went ahead and had a gastroscopy out of my own pocket to discover what was wrong, then I took the images along with written results to a gastrologist who identified the issues and set the course. I was for some time put on itopride and a supplement made out of mucus (mix of olive leaves and opuntia pulp I think and a bunch of other additives) - along with the esomeprazole. About a year or so of this treatment allowed me to cure the esophagitis and gastritis - but the reflux is still there, only proper diet, esomeprazole, change of habits (like exercise, which I was doing anyways and an adjustment to sleeping position) can yield long term results :/
@miriamrobarts8 ай бұрын
@@SharkBait-0317 I have GERD / acid reflux due to complications from chronic illness & medications. I was on medication for it for a while, but what really helped were the other changes. (I don't take meds for it anymore, & rarely have any reflux.) 1. I sleep with a pile of pillows to lounge (in somewhat more of a sitting up position) instead of lying down. I have a couple of very firm pillows & a nice soft pillow on top of those. My back & shoulders lean back against the firm pillows (which lean against the headboard) & my head rests on the soft pillow on top. 2. I try not to eat too close to bedtime (especially more acidic foods, like dark chocolate). 3. I also pay attention to what I eat, and if it causes a reaction, I don't eat that food. Unfortunately, I can't eat spicy foods now. 🙁(I found some seeds for a habanero pepper that doesn't have capsaicin. It's called "habanada" but I haven't tried to grow it yet.) I also eat more gentler, easier to digest foods (such as rice, apples, bananas, carrots, etc.). See what foods seem best for you. (I already didn't drink alcohol for religious reasons, but I've heard it can cause acid reflux, so you could try staying sober if you normally drink.) 4. I keep some chewable antacid by my bed so I can take one on the rare occasion I have a little reflux. (But remember these aren't meant to be taken regularly.) I hope you feel better (& you get the help you need, if these tips don't take care of it)!

For those with contact dermatitis problems on the scalp, rinsing hair while washing is at least as important as the soap-and-scrub part. Rinsing hair is a lot like washing paint out of a paint brush. There’s ALWAYS more paint in there when you think you have it clean. While not as extreme as the paint brush example, it does take more rinsing than you might think to get all of the shampoo out of your hair, and off of your scalp. I was troubled by this for years, until I finally started taking enough time to throughly rinse my scalp. I have much less difficulty since I started really thoroughly rinsing my hair.

For someone who has had ingrown toe nails, try checking your feet, especially the nails, more often than you think. I ended up with a procedure after the third in grown toe nail on my left foot kept coming back where my previous doctor had to remove it and chemically burn the part of the toe nail that kept growing back in on the sides into my actual toe. I did the procedure right before my wedding and honey moon, genius idea, and was in a lot of pain walking afterwards. Again, in my case it was necessary and the toe looks normal, just more square. Same thing is sort of happening on the right but don't try to fix an ingrown toe nail, let your physician or even better a podiatrist do it. Lesson learned, pay attention and take good care of your feet...and everything else. Your body is unique to you and deserves attention and respect so that you can live as healthy as possible.

Have you heard of toenail threading? A nurse taught me it because I had ingrown toenail on both big toes. Please ask a dr, podiatrist or foot care nurse about it. It is very simple painless that can adjust the shape of your nails as long as the ingrown is not too bad. Good luck!

I get ingrown toenails. They used to be a lot worse. It got to where it hurt way too much, constantly. I had no medical options, so pulled the sides up- there was so much nail under the skin & flesh that it was bleeding more than I expected (on multiple toes). That hurt a lot, but things slowly got better until, now, I just keep the sides short & they’re good (if I wait too long, it can hurt a little bit, but that’s really not a problem). The problem is with what I was doing in the beginning. I took way too much risk, doing that. I’m glad it worked out, but it was probably a bad idea. People should be safe & talk to a professional before doing anything, themselves. Only do it, yourself if they say it’s ok.
