It's a shame Barret's VA get mocked by some folks for supposedly sounding like Robert Downey Jr. In Tropic Thunder, ignoring the fact the VA knocked it off the park when it came to the emotional beats in the scenes.

I’m 97 percent through all trophies. I have only one to go and it’s the platinum for me. Which is surprising because I normally am not a trophy hunter. That being said I’ve been through this game a multitude of times. And Barrett kinda just freezes in the scene where president shinra pulls a pistol to his face when he has a freaking arm for an automatic helicopter destroyer. That and you have a really pissed off lion wolf with flames emanating from his tail, a guy with a big ass blade, an ancient, and a chick with fists that can punch through rock. That part just doesn’t sit well with me. None of it makes any logical sense. But I guess that’s final fantasy for ya. If I didn’t grow up off of this series I’d let situations like these eat me alive until I hated it.

That would do about 450 in Rocket Town meaning it would do lots more during this scene in the OG game (800-2000) killing the 140-300 HP guys instantly in the OG game. If Mako Guns translate freely into the remake, let's just say it would one shot everyone in the room.

A character that takes thousands upon thousands of fully finished swings (meaning they would cleave THROUGH them) and they take practically no damage. Games with the protagonists shot in the head, body, vital organs.. no lasting damage. FF is just very cinematic. I always thought of the characters in games taking damage being more like their willpower taking damage. Or their armor breaking up. Once the health bar is depleted, they can't take it any more. 1HP being more like their final straw rather than their body having broken apart. All the fighting they do in fight parts of the gameplay is done with both sides prepared and no dirty tricks (relatively speaking). No killing blows, so to speak.. until one side wins. Basically the point I am trying to make is this; This is no sin of FF alone. This is the sin of practically every game. One of the few games I have ever played that did this close to realistic was Kingdom Come Deliverance. Being hit drains stamina and weakens armor. You take no health damage before the armor is busted open, but your fighting ability is severely compromised as you take strikes even if they only drain stamina. Swarmed by opponents that strike you from all sides and nowhere to run.. and even if you had your drained stamina prevents you from getting far.

I did plenty missions, maybe missing a few at the very start of the game in Sector 7. I did practically everything at the time of saving Tifa from Don Corneo as well as nearly everything after. I still got Barret's scene and I find it to be the most beautiful of them all. It seems to me more like it is if you accept the minor advances by either girl they get their scenes instead of Barret. For me it's all Jesse, sorry Tifa and Aerith. Jesse for the love (my girl has to be alive. It's not fair that Charlie Sheen and Wedge got to survive - though I love both) and Barret for the bro.

I only got the Aerith scene here, did not know the other characters also had secret scenes. All three are really great in their own right and very tragic. Barret is 10000x better than OG FF7 Barret. Not just a polygonal Mr. T anymore, he has so much depth and passion for this fight he's in and feels like an actual person with real motivations and development. It can't be stated enough how amazingly they nailed these characters

I actually think he's trying to be less vulnerable with them off. He talks about these people that aided Avalanche from Sector 7. Where the plate just dropped. He's in denial. It's why he stops when he says "Knew." It's past tense. He can't bring himself to grieve, not yet. He still has work to do. And at the same time, we see how wounded he really is. He clenches his fist, swallows and then talks in a jovial turn and walks away. He's afraid to show any feelings, even to what may be one of his last friends. It says so much about him while he never says it.

Wow, had no idea Barrett was a possible outcome. So how exactly does this happen, i thought me picking up Aerith instead of Tifa in the sewers was what made it decide which person would be in this cutscene

Don't do sidequests in Ch3 nor Ch8. Don't drink with Tifa, be "mean" to Aerith when she's offering rose. 👌

MrNinosan I went to redo the chapters and I keep ending up with tifa. You can’t avoid doing at least one side quest in chapter 3 since it’s part of the main quest to do one side quest. I was mean to aerith in chapter 2. I’m lost for this scene lol. I even went back to chapter 9 and was mean to aerith in all the scenes. Help?

@@onewinged07 So, you was mean to Aerith in Ch2. You only did the quest with Chadley in ch3. You didn't drink with Tifa in Ch3. You did 0 sidequest in Ch8. If that didn't give Barret, you can try 2 things. 1, replay chapter in sewers choosing Aerith instead of Tifa. Or, replay the Chapter where Jessie asks for a date, and you chose, No Promises. Remember that you have to complete the Chapter, before the changes takes place.

@@MajraMangetsu Yea, he is very handsome. Square Enix has made a great character model of Barret in the remake. Much better than the Advent Children model. Barret looks so realistic here.

The scene is itself is not hidden and depends on decisions you've made - i HIGHLY (!) recommend getting Aertith's scene for all Aerith fans. Belive me - you won't regret it :)

I got Tifa first go. I feel like Barret is the real outlier here. The other two seem easier to do. Like, those choices are exposed to you, you know? But damn if I can’t for the life of me figure out how this would come about. Is it just not doing any of the discovery missions?

@@mikeshaver-miller745 iirc, you can get the barret scene by turning down aerith's flower (chap 2) and tifa's drink (chap 3). Skip side quests as well.

This is why I say that this is a reboot, not a remake technically. I like Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie, they're all really good characters and are even more fleshed out here, but they died in the original.

I just wish they could change it without the whole alternate universe subplot. I'd like it if you could save Aerith and get different ending based on choices. Instead they're going with the changing fate kingdom heartsy garbage. It's not like it'll ruin the story, but it's easy to mess up.
