Loving those Bowties! my grandpa had a white '62 409 Impala long ago, A fun car while he had it... Great event and high praise to those classic Chevy's, coming from a Mopar guy!

I always wanted a 348 or 409 . Don’t even have to have a car to go with it just have the engine setting in my shop just to look at it.

So this is where all the Bowties went. I always hoped my old 64 Biscayne would grow 2 more cylinders with those W valve covers.

409 ended because they couldn't get much more hp off pump gas. The heads maxed out compression. The other problem was if you missed a shift on the 4 speed, the engine was prone to self destruction. Overall, pretty quick engine.

never saw a 348 that would spin a tire on dry pavement. that last tan car at the very end must have been the 348 for sure.

Sorry for your loss. I owned one of the few 1959 Impala's with the 348, 335 horse and the Bog Warner 4-speed. It was a heavy car but it sure would smoke both rear tires so easy. Uncle Sam called me and I had to sell it in 1966. Won many street races with that 348. You probably never heard a 348 with all three carbs wide open at 6,000 rpm's ?? It's like a bee sting that one never forgets.

@@phantomblott1 Had a friend that bought a new 1961 impala convertible 4-speed with three two barrel carbs run ok for back then, I had a 1963 with 4 -speed 327 300 h.p run very good.

Amazing to see these x frame cars with 2 piece driveshaft hauling ass
@jameshuban65154 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Can you imagine the frame flex of those cars. I'm sure the center bearings were relatively new. The welds on mine snapped and raised hell one night. That was with a 6 cyi/powerglide.

409 was the greatest thing ever until late 64 when those dodge boys made the 426 hemi engines. They killed the 409 engines
