I've always loved early Barbie dolls as far back as I can remember first seeing them but lately I have really been bitten by the collecting bug. I moved across country about four years ago and had to sell most of my doll collection. I hope to start aquiring doĺls again. I enjoy watching your collecting journey.

Hi! If I may, rubbing alcohol is a godsend for cleaning dolls. Like you mention, a magic eraser basically sands. ( it can cause shine on rough surfaces, and roughen smooth surfaces) Rubbing alcohol gets off SO much dirt, disinfects, and evaporates quickly so you don't expose the doll to a lot of water. ( especially important with these wire core dolls, as water can cause or exasperate the metal corrosion). Rubbing alcohol on the Qtip when cleaning the icky green residue is more productive too ( and again not exposing the corrosion to water). Hope that helps, and keep saving those dolls! :)

I just used the Magic Eraser on some lightly stained/dirty Remco Heidi dolls, and it worked great! Their limbs weren't in that bad a state. But the slightly rubbery material just wasn't coming clean. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, please let us see if the green ear is gone or faded? I just got a gorgeous vintage Barbie and all that's wrong is this darn green ear ❤

Have you ever heard of adding salt to water to prevent bleeding? Also wonder if Zit would work on green ears. It works to remove marker from dolls.

Great video, I was wonder if you have any ideas on how to remove dark around the ears ? It was probably treated for green ears. But now its dark around the ears. Its a number 4 Barbie.

Can modern dolls get green ear from metallic jewellery? If I coat earrings in nail gel, would that form enough of a barrier to stop the chemical reaction?

I've heard modern dolls can be affected, I haven't experienced that myself. The only doll I tried coating the earring was my Casey, but she already had green ear that I treated her for so I don't know that it will actually stop the process. The only thing I can recommend for sure are the safe earrings, the ones with a plastic stud. Or you can just put the earrings on to take a picture and remove them when on display.

@cindyshirreffs2099 That's been my motto! I know what has worked for me and can give advice on that, but there are so many opinions in the doll community on right and wrong ways to do things. I just like to encourage everyone to try their best and have fun with it, that's how we learn.

My Sonny Mego is icky I need to wash him I washed Cher she is clean except for a black spot that doesn't want to come clean and. she still smells even though she was outside in the sun for a few hours
