Staring at 10:20 the tempo is much slower than I expected - it is a beautiful melody (and what Schubert melody isn't inherently beautiful and "hummable" ? I was always taught to speed up this section - and much against my free will. I am so thankful to hear this at a speed that I particularly adore. It enables the listener to hear every nuance with total clarity. Of course, it leaves my minds ear humming it, enabling my restless body to lapse into the blissful land of nod. Thanks for sharing!

I prefer this to the Rubinstein or Horowitz versions I have heard. Beautifully balanced between and within the hands. It's also closer to the way I aspire to interpret it (if a bit faster in places and just a bit more accurate LOL) so I may be biased! :)) It could be played slower and just as beautiful, so don't feel intimidated into not trying it yourself! It's easier than it sounds. To play the notes, at least. To get the depth out of the music that Maria João Pires gets though, that is up at another level. Brendel's version I am afraid does little for me in comparison.
