I learned the entire guitar part to this song and now I’m learning the piano part which is much more difficult. ABB-Best damn band in the land.

One of the best versions on here. I can remember circa Summer 1973 they would take this on the road and play some bad ass extended jams. It was so fresh sounding, was it not? Soldiering on without Duane & Berry too. Speaking of Berry, looking at the above video photo, reminded me he wanted an ideal utopian communal type of living for them all. Sadly, he was gone by then.

I saw them in DC, Aug. 1973, when they broke this album out. they started the concert at 7:30 with Jessica, blew RFK up, a sound tower, black park policeman, took his hat off & swiped it down to his side, "whew that was one damn lick". kind of way. They played until dawn, started Mountain Jam at Midnight, kept going until dawn.

Nice fade in screen change at around 12:30 mark to album cover...remember this album cover well, used to sit and stare at it while listening to the record play at gf's house. Thinking how cool everyone looked in the photo, and a real "brothers and sisters" look and feel to the whole experience...so many in there now deceased, sad. Band members, roadies, gone now. What a moment in time though--in the music, the setting, the feeling.

Chuck is a part of the song as Dickey's guitar. Like a couple eagles soarin high!
@RayNDeere7 жыл бұрын
It was a great move to add Chuck rather than fill the spot with just another guitar. Esp. on this song, Chuck's piano was perfect. When he would play solo parts on "... Elizabeth Reed" (best heard on "Wipe The Windows, Check the Oil, Dollar Gas") that were originally Duane's guitar parts, it truly complimented the song.

Caps Lock, Caps Lock, Caps Lock - Stop shouting. Less is more you know. BTW, perhaps you could listen to some live Rush. They seem to do alright with the impro; just sayin'. There's no best. Subjective opinions passed off as objective are passé. (dunno if that last statement is objective or subjective ;) heh...

Fantastic version of this song... nice early clean live version of this song... the later versions posted have too much distortion added... live recordings are always so much purer sounding then studio cuts in my book. Thank you for posting it. RIP Top Gear.

best version of the song by far. Its not so fast paced like the studio version and in my opinion the song and the riffs in it can breathe better in this way.

Ok, let's RnR.... tastes define greatness when it comes to lead guitar playing. Jimi, Eric, Jeff, Duane, Stevie Ray and many others... for me, Dickey Betts smokes the hell out of that 6 string! Turn it up as loud as you can, roll a fattie and ENJOY!
