I heard it claimed that the Ace of Tone is the best bang for buck overdrive pedal on the market at the moment. It certainly has plenty of features. Seems well made. Let's find out how good this affordable pedal really is.

As long as the ibanez TS mini is available at the price it is, there's no way anything else can come close. The boss SD1 is also dirt cheap and sounds incredible. The EHX stuff isn't my jam personally but they offer some great stuff. For the price of this pedal, you can get TS mini and boss BD2 and call it a day lol. As usual incredible playing, I like that you never sugarcoat the criticism.

Yes, but not in a nice little box like the NUX provides. So you are still breaking even due to convenience alone; and bonus, you get to choose true bypass or buffered mode which can only add to the price of the other pedals if you wish to apply them. In short, NUX is still the better value.

Good Review and good planning. Two shirts on and the middle of Summer. I looked it up. Turku, Finland is 68F (20C) now. I used to work at a TV studio many years ago. They used to say it's good to have one "in the can." Good playing and good clone of more expensive guitar pedals. (Price listed was $120) Like everything else, price will probably be rising soon. I have a Nux morning star and like the way it sounds thru my amps. I think the shine is a buffer feature, Not much gain by itself hence a boost or ts stacks well. Great video Elmo, love your channel. You're a monster guitar player too dude.

After much research and going through tonnes of reviews both printed and KZbin, I have come to the conclusion that New X is a great company and have ordered their MG400. It hasn't reach me yet. Great review 👍 When it gets here perhaps I'll do a review of the Nux MG400 with my homebuilt teak wood Tele. Maybe you'll be curious enough to check it out. I have only a hundred or so subscribers and have no interest in monetizing my channel. However, I am extremely interested in keeping it exclusive as a place where friends can share ideas and hear my ideas. Nux is, again, a great company. I have also got their amp simulator pedal, the black one.

Sounds good for the money. It needs a hard clipper stacked into it or after it to bring out the highs better. A DOD 250 works well. So does a RAT if you keep the gain real low. Happy stacking! Great vid, Elmo!

Sounds pretty good! Based on the name, I assume they mean to imply it is trying to be a King of Tone type of pedal. But I have waited about a year and half so far, and only have another ~3 years to wait before I get my KoT... lol

Elmo, would you at some point talk about the concept of boost. Say, one boost pedal on, then another one on top of that. And what boost means regarding tone. It's very clear (I believe to all of us) that you understand fully the very meaning of boost.

Boost just means you're pushing more signal into the amp. More signal means if you're using a tube amp, the tubes will sound hotter. Like the difference in plugging a single coil guitar into your amp versus a guitar with humbuckers. Humbuckers have a bigger signal than single coils so you get more distortion and compression.

Seems to be a (really good) copy/variation of Analogman's King Of Tone. Really Good! Nux confirms itself to be probably the best company from Far East in the Guitar Pedals Market. Own its Horsemen which blends the Gold and Silver Klon Centaur and it's really good.

Noise gate on and 'shine' off, everything else halfway, sounded pretty good to me. Especially with the Strat. Just as a matter of interest, have you tried the Mosaic 12 string pedal? Not sure if you, yourself, would use a 12 string effect. Just thought I'd ask. Great playing, as per. Thanks EJK

I have had one since it came out. It is of course a little synthetic but in context with guitar playing you would play on a 12 string it is convincing. Both Roger McGuinn and Tom Petty always used the old Vox V-806 treble booster made only in 1966. Ananashead Byrd Song pedal do a dead on clone of it working from Voxes own blueprints and parts list. I have one and the combination is killer!!! I had a real '66 scaterwound Rickenbaker single coil put at the neck in my Fender Duo Sonic. I have a 55 Tele PU at the bridge. I love that I can flatpick a verse with a faux Ric 12 string vibe then go to a Tele with an OD for the chorus on the same tune.

I have yet to gel with a dual button overdrive...? I got this some time ago to make a video, did’t like it and have had it for sale for EVER, lol. $60 and no takers. Not such a bad pedal, I just still prefer stacking individual drives that I’ve come to love.

Had one, my issue was the foot switches the slight "pause" when switching was annoying and the 808 side wasn't that great imo.

Elmo, I think you should demo the JOYO Zombie 20 Watt hybrid amp. The amp has one real tube in preamp section and a 20 Watt solid state power amp. I think only you would give an honest review. If you already did a demo of it, disregard.

It's got alot going on for a small box, but I'm not overly impressed tbh, some settings are good, some not so imo, would have liked to hear from 1 to 12 and onwards but you probably have stuff to do lol. Seemed after 3 o'clock it kinda kicked in, and abit buzzy on some settings. But for the price and what it can achieve i would say its ok, just not wow that thing kicks ass, kinda thing.
