I see myself as being a simple man. I don't have much so the things that I do have I am very thankful for. I cherish what friends I have. I am thankful for the people that I have in my life. It is the little things in life that give me much joy and it may not be any more than just a walk on a sunny day, a smile from a neighbor, the laughter of a child, the touch of a woman's hand, listening to the birds chirping while laying in a hammock, or just being able to relax in my recliner. The little things in life mean the most to me. I've never had much money in fact I have actually been homeless more than once and it gave me a totally different outlook on life. I've learned to be happy without money though I do work. I don't care if I ever get rich. The little things are what I live for. Thank God for peaceful country roads and the sound of the wind in the Willow trees. The little things are all I need. I love this band and this song. Thank you for your awesome music throughout the years. And may God bless you my brothers.

I'm depressed and suicidal, have been for nearly 10 years (in therapy for almost the same time) I often cry on lonely nights wishing for an end, but this song brings a different kind of tear. Its tears for my mother who loves me and wishes for me to be happy in whatever way possible. It reminds me of her suffering seeing me like this. Whenever I feel close to the edge this song reminds me of my mother and that It would destory her, she doesn't deserve it, wish I could be a better son. I love you mom, I'm sorry for hurting you so much, you deserve better.

This song upsets tf out of me. Got a call from my old buddy while I was at work one day, when I picked up I couldn’t understand what he was saying cause he was choked up, so I told him to repeat what he said. At first it sounded like he said his dad was gone and something happened to his dad. I rushed out of work went to his house, come to find out our friend shot himself in his basement, this song was playing as I was on my way to his house. Will never forget the look on his face when I got there, all the emotions that went thru my head, I just remember being numb and not knowing what to say. Everybody rushed to his house including his brother, we were all devastated. Seeing our friend come out in a body bag is the most terrible feeling in the world, wouldn’t wish it on anybody. I love this song but that memory keeps me from listening to it sometimes. RIP Pat, you’re still missed brother.

An aerosmith ballad is just what i need tonight. Great classic rock. A really good band for me when I was a high school kid in the late 60's, but they had a resurrection in the 90's and became one of son's favorite bands, too. We used to go out to the freeway in my Corvette, take off the roof, turn up the sound and sing as loud as we could. Those were happy days.

Absolutely brilliant song. And so true. Forget your lust for the rich man's gold. All you need is your SOUL. A simple life of loving yourself, your family, friends, making the world better, if only by a healthy child or a thriving vegetable garden. You are enough. Forget what 'THEY' tell you you need to be a happy and successful man.
@MyITRcom6 жыл бұрын
You need that pile of gold if you plan on being an responsible person capable of helping your family if an emergency arises in America. The song is irresponsible at best, a mind numbing at its worst.
@chickensandwitchman18546 жыл бұрын
several things are inaccurate in the statement you just made. 1. in an emergency gold is useless all you need is food, water, and shelter. 2. Those types of items are exceedingly cheap in 99% of America no one is forcing you to live in New York or the Silicon Valley were water costs ten grand. 3. the song doesn't tell you to give up on your dreams or to be homeless, it just tells you to set real goals and be happy were you are. 4. when you go after piles of gold in the manner in witch your statement implies you will 9/10 times die with less than a penny to your name because you saw gold and demanded it would be yours while ignoring reality.

About three months ago I lost my dad and I’ll tell ya I get my music taste from him and he showed me this song awhile back and it just makes me sit and think. I sure miss the old man more than anything in the world. Rest in Parsdise Dad!

I swear he wrote this song about my dad. He retried from special forces to be a carpenter. We've never been super close, but I've always admired him for being the kind of person he is. He'll refuse payment to fix an old lady's house for free, and I've watched him stop the car on the side of the highway to run across traffic to pull the car door off a car that has just crashed so he could get the people out before paramedics arrived. And I've tried so hard to watch and learn to be like him.

This song embodies much more than something than a stupid show. It is about a mother, her love for her son and wanting him to have the best in life. One of their greatest songs.

A song beyond perfect with the simpliest lyrics and instrumental. This song reminds you that you are also perfect; simple or complex, easy or hard, weak or tough, rich or poor... Just try to be your best self in terms of being a good person. A mother is the biggest influence on a child's world-view and character development, especially a son's. A mother's love, compassion and selflessness are the things for a boy to be the best version of himself that I indicated above. And when this boy meets the one, he gives and expects these same traits from her. Then when they reach the unconditional LOVE, their souls are fully satisfied. They are always grateful for this, always remembering there is someone up above. This song is the story of my life so far and I am so grateful that I've chosen to be a "simple man". I wish everyone finds himself/herself and then the one whom he/she will share his/her life with. Have a good life :)

This was played at my grandfather's funeral unexpectedly. The church said they were going to play "Down By The River" and they did but after that they played this. He told me he wanted his funeral to be happy and he thought this song would capture happiness. It did. The whole church was singing along and the energy was just positive.

Music touches everyone, no matter who. Certain songs people get the feels to. This song is one of those songs for me. My ma died in February of this year, when she lost her battle to Lamb's Disease. Everything about this song connects to me and makes so much sense to me after she has passed. Now I'm off to college and this will forever be cemented in my brain.

There will never again in this time and life of mine, and I'm now 52yrs old be any group that can compare to Lynynrd Skynyrd. I have finally got the chance to see them one last time in Charlotte, Nc. May God him self give them life to live a lot longer to tour again when the time comes. I will be a die-hard Skynyrd fan til the day I am put to rest.

My mother past away on what’s going to be 4 years this October, all she ever preached on me was to always respect other people especially girls to always be there for them no matter what. She was my world and I miss her everyday but this song just reminds me of her when I was younger. She’s past when I was 18 I’m 22 now and I still can’t manage to talk about her and I don’t like the idea of therapy
