best SDN video I've watched! Thank you

Good stuff been using Proxmoxve for a little while now with basic network settings but wanted to try out the SDN part for a while now. I do have my server in a datacenter with custom datacenter firewall rules and security groups to lock down access via certain ips I control but this is way more detailed. Thank you so much for this tutorial.

Thank you for a comment. In witch DC you store your Proxmox? I tried to find one for myself. Closest i got is Hetzner. Got lost while setting up Proxmox networking as by default Proxmox in Hetzner not configured with default vmbr0 networking and setting up from scratch is above my head.

This is great. It is adequate for most home lab use before resorting to opnsense.

great video. To improve on this I would suggest quick overview - including network diagram to show what your endgame is - that way you can understand what the point of the firewall rules and the virtual networks is going to be before getting to the end of each little section for the SDN settings or datacentre, server,VM firewall rules. Hope that helps.

You make the video. These Proxmox videos are for people who have invested in themselves to have a basic understanding of what is going on. If you are using a type 1 hypervisor and don't understand firewall rules and virtual networks, you need to pump the brakes and go back to reading and watching beginner videos. It is expected the viewer has knowledge in this area before proceeding. But you expect and ask for more and more and more. Make some videos of your own. Thanks so much!

I really appreciate your tutorial. I've been looking for something practical like this for a while. One thing I need that was not covered: How can I give access to a NAS VM that's behind the SDN from physical PCs outside Proxmox. Right now this outside local network can´t see my virtual network.
@MRPtech4 ай бұрын
What i would do: attached 2nd NIC to that NAS vm to get your real home network IP. This way NAS inside virtual network will communicate with all other stuff inside virtual network and same time using 2nd nic it can communicated with your home network. You can restrict that communication a bit more using firewall rules. For example - allow only SMB or NFS traffic.

We need example EVPN/VXLAN setups with IPAM allocation.

Well done. Thanks. Could you make a video or give some suggestions about EVPN SDN? I can't get a connection through SDN between containers located on different nodes.

Hmmmm I take it they are physically apart? Not in same local network?
