About Irondrake Golem entry: 'Resistances: bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage from non-magical weapons that aren't adamantine. Immunities: 'Resistances: bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage from non-magical weapons that aren't adamantine.' Is it me, or is this part entirely redundant? Did you mean resistance to damage from magical weapons that aren't adamantine/adamantine weapons that aren't magical?
@That80sGuy19723 жыл бұрын
It means that adamantine weapons and non-magical weapons ignore the weapon resistance. Adamantine, meaning adamantine or other super-metal (like Meteorite Iron), is treated as magical for the purposes of defense bypassing. It's bad wording from a very old edition origin (late 1st Ed and all of 2nd Ed). Some magic-hating AD&D heroes used adamantine weapons and weapons infused with other materials to fight enemies that normally cannot be hit by nonmagical weapons. The scripts (words, texts) have been cut-n-paste out of context for decades and it got confusing.
@Harrowed2TheMind3 жыл бұрын
@@That80sGuy1972 OK, but what about the immunity, then? What's the purpose of the damage resistance when the immunity accomplishes the same thing, only better?

@That80sGuy19723 жыл бұрын
@@Harrowed2TheMind Often immunity applies only to a certain + and immunity is sometimes situational. Also, sometimes the word "immunity" is redundantly applied, meaning weapons that don't do damage after the weapon resistance is applied. I haven't read the current entry on that one but the newest one might make weapon resistance redundant by adding immunities, AD&D started getting progressively wonkier after 2nd Ed. It could even be a typo or a misread of an older version, so same problem, different manifestation. I just read Gabriel Barbosa's comment and I think Gabriel nailed (or at least as close to nailing as one can) this one.

In my headcanon, Amodeus was the original ruler of Jovar, but known by a previous name, Lamauel. Along with Baalzebul (then Triel, the ruler of Mertion) and others, he attempted to overthrow Zaphkiel, but was struck down to Baator, where he overthrew Zargon and established himself as the new ruler of the Nine Hells. Thus, the other six original Tome Archons are not necessarily dead (although some were killed during the failed revolt), but Zaphkiel is the only one who remains.

@Scrinoverlord2 жыл бұрын
Well, the Pact Primeval only refers to the Blood War, which in 5e is only really confined to the Lower Planes, not the entire multiverse as it was in Planescape. Thus, there isn't as much incentive to directly intervene. The Pact Primeval doesn't prevent celestials from fighting other evil in the rest of the cosmos, and doesn't stop them from combatting devils trying to corrupt mortal souls. If devils can exploit that part of the Pact's clause, so can celestials. I imagine angels can and do go after fiends that bring the Blood War *outside* of the Lower Planes, and act through proxies or find a way to be summoned if it's in the Material. That being said, you definitely have an interesting idea going there. That's at least a viewpoint that Zariel had, and probably wasn't the only one. And since 5e has a depressingly low amount of lore for celestials and other Good-aligned entities it really does give the impression that cosmic Good does fuck all to do anything. Which is something I fault to the writers, but at least it's a viewpoint that can be exploited in-setting for plot hooks.

The content of your channel is really cool, and as i usually skip the "Let me introduce to our sponsor" part of the videos on youtube, you happen to have some interesting stuff in this part too. Imagine how cool would it be if we got some PDFs to buy from you, such as: "D&D 5.0; What they don't tell you about: Monsters/Planes/Artifacts" etc. I would buy them right away. Will surely buy the Dragon Hoards one.

Just got your book, and have to say: Looks absolutely amazing! Only thing I'm sort of "Eh" about is the Walock's Great Wyrm subclass... It seems, especially from level 10 onwards, absolutely *busted* in balancing terms.

im a VERY new DM and im running a campaign and its getting a lot better, having had my forever DM tell me im doing pretty good and theres a lot of celestials and demons and "fallen angels" and this helps a lot, the BBEG is one of these angels. while he's at his weakest so after this next session which may be the final fight, i may introduce a sort of stolen relic of the heavens

Not saying that Zaphkeil is similar to Ahriman consuming very specific souls to gain power... but maybe he is and the reason on one returns is because Zaphkeil consumes them.

Question: what would happen to an Undead, Fiend, Demon, seeking to climb the mountain? Assuming they follow the rules and don't cause trouble or kill anyone would they be allowed to climb? Or would they be assaulted by the celestials? Edit: could you cover Liches and their sub races such as Arch Liches, Baelnorn, Demi Liches?
@Valsoriel Жыл бұрын
As long as they are genuinely trying to improve themselves, they are welcomed inside of Mount Celestia.
@louiesatterwhite3885 Жыл бұрын
They would be allowed to, at least fiends. Climbing celestial as a devil that is a fallen angel is a way to return to angelic status

So if good-aligned gods reside on those respective aligned planes alongside the Paragons, where do evil-aligned gods reside? Would a chaotic evil god live in the Abyss alongside the Demon Lords? And as a general rule, how do the planar rulers like demon lords, devil princes, and celestial paragons compare in power to gods on their plane? Weaker, stronger, roughly equal, or case-by-case basis?
@daviddaugherty28163 жыл бұрын
For the first question, yes. For the second, they have their own divine domains, independent of the archfiends. For example, Tiamat has her citadel on Avernus, the first layer of Baator (guarding the entrance of Dis like an especially badass Cerberus). Meanwhile, Zariel rules the whole layer.
@elegantoddity86093 жыл бұрын
Sometimes they do. They can defy the law chaos rules generally but as a rule good gods won't be on evil planes and vice versa. A chaotic evil god might also live in Pandemonium or Carceri, two planes that are chaos and evil aligned in different directions. And if they do they might not want anything to do with the demons. In general they're weaker. Like a step below demigod status. But they're more "unique" than deities and have their own special strengths. Primarily they aren't reliant on mortal worship to live, as gods normally are, but also can't grant divine spells (they either get a god friend to do it for them or serve as a kind of symbol by which a mortal harnesses the power of their plane. And specific planar rulers have special advantages, like Demogorgon's power to command nearly all demons.
@jonathancampbell52313 жыл бұрын
Most of the evil deities reside in the evil-aligned planes (there are one or two than live in neutral or even good-aligned planes, but those are exceptions) but most evil aligned planes do not belong to the Devils or the Demons. Exceptions exist- Asmodeus is a Lawful Evil God, and he rules over the Nine Hells. Tiamat is a Lawful Evil god as well and also resides in the Nine Hells, albeit as more of a hostage. Lolth is both a Demon Lord and an evil goddess and lives in the Abyss. Demogorgon is also a lesser deity. Generally the other evil gods live in other evil planes like Gehenna, Acheron, Carceri, Pandemonium or Hades (guess who the top god of THAT plane is?), simply because they don't feel like competing with Devils or Demons, though they may have allies among such ranks (Hextor, the Lawful Evil Greyhawk god that lives in Archeron- the plane of LE / LN- , is allied to the Devils for instance).

In my campaign setting, good-aligned creatures who die at level 10 or higher are given the option to keep their body and memories when they die. With their body reflecting who the individual truly was at heart. In simple terms, if you were truly a child at heart, then your afterlife body would be a literal child version of yourself that still is just as capable as you were in life at your prime. The idea being that a high-level mortal can genuinely be far more effective for the forces of Law and Good than what an Archon can be at times. In addition, those who become Archons, are eventually given the choice to get their mortal form and memories back if they want it. Shockingly few do this, as they are concerned of how this could have an effect on their goals as a Petitioner. This usually happens around the point of being promoted from a Trumpet Archon as a different path of existence for the Archon to chose from.

Great video! Any possibility of shedding light on Olympus? The process of dying and then enlightening yourself to become progressively holier is a great concept, and I hope there is something equally interesting for those who die that lived chaotically good.
