Not to rain on your parade, but that has actually nothing at all to do with range. You can sing the same note and add "distortion" on top within the same range. It's impressive when people can switch fast between growls and cleans (like Courtney from Spiritbox for example) but here there was a big enough break between the growl and the singing. If you do growls with the correct technique your vocal chords will not be damaged or roughed up, so switching back to singing is second nature, especially if you are used to singing.

People in the audience at the Live show can tell when somebody is lip-syncing or when it is Live vocals. IF IT WAS NOT LIVE VOCALS, this video would not have been on the internet ever since it happened because the fans who were there would have DESTROYED the video by now with nasty comments. It would have been debunked immediately, months ago. Nobody would bother to watch it now. Mr. Rock N Roll would have been duly notified that it was fake so he would not have reacted to it. MomoMetal was exactly what the Babymetal group was missing. We can say that they are now divas. Super ladies. And no more teenagers playing heavy metal.

Also gives Su a way to pass the torch if she decides to move on from Babymetal. She started in that band as a young teen (13-14ish) and is almost 27 now, she spent half her life in Babymetal (more than half of her life under contract as an Idol) and this was a project they never imagined would become this popular. Momo can sing the full range of the Babymetal songs, so she can fill in and take over if Su ever decides to move on or wants to step back to start a family.

This was such an important performance for Momo in my humble opinion. Her front and center position in Metali was great, don’t get me wrong, but this….. this is when she solidified herself as not a Yui replacement and instead became a unique addition to the band. I am so eager to see what they do with her moving forward.

This concert was on the last night that Momoko was 20 years old. That’s why the lyric change from “ichigo” to “hatachi” (20) made sense. They had the same lyric change at LEGEND S and LEGEND M for Su and Moa’s 20th birthdays. We had another surprise the next night for Momoko’s 21st birthday. : )

I got to see this live at Legend MM. To say that I was flabbergasted by Momo's performance would be something of an understatement. The wild juxtaposition of the growl and then Momo's super kawaii clean vocals was something else. It was a fantastic show all round, but this was an absolute highlight.

When i first saw Momo in Yui`s Spot i was like...hm i dont know if that will work out. Well it did greatly. She worked so hard to earn that Place in the Band we all adore and she is a dam good Addition to the Babymetal Experience.
