This movie is high camp. I love it. Need to watch it again.
@user-kd4ct2qv4f2 ай бұрын
This comment annoys me the most. It's not, only in YOUR mind and those like you. When it came out, it was just about a strong intelligent beautiful complicated woman. Why is that camp? Women still aren't allowed to be that. Insane men making fun of women's issues is really just jealousy. A biological male will only ever be a campy crude version of a woman no matter how hard they try. A failed man will think 'I may be an insecure failure as a man, but I can still be a woman, they are incompetent, incomplete men with no accountability.' That's why they hate real women, they can't really be them no matter how hard they try yet they perceive them as less than. I'd apologize for this but I'm not that noble.

Made me chuckle! The couple that Joan was done with look familiar- I think the husband played the monsignor in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? and the actress playing his wife was Mrs. Howell on Gilligan's Island.

If camp--highest echelon. Ms Crawford acted each script believing she was portraying true, honest drama. Camp, if misjudged by later standards
@user-kd4ct2qv4f2 ай бұрын
True because women even now still aren't allowed to be complicated, intelligent, mean, self contained, and above all equal. Camp is just another way of not taking women seriously imo. Think of all the Michael Bay and Clint Eastwood movies out there being lauded as satisfying cinema.

Love the compilation but it's missing my favorite line - before Joan throws that martini in Jeff Chandler's face she barks, "I wouldn't have you if you were hung with diamonds upside down" - I've never been quite able to visualize her metaphor but it does sound dirty (Jeff hanging naked upside down from a crystal chandelier?)

..yup, one of my favorite Joan Crawford movies. She, her character, was best before she "gives in" to Jeff Chandler. Her comments were so direct and sophistically empowered (against him). She also looks good in her clothing of the era. The assault scene w/her dress top being torn away provides audience wide eyed focus on Joans response (but in my view, the kiss following was....hash). No one was like Joan.
