It comes from the society culture . I am from Delhi but my dad was posted in Ahmedabad for 5 yrs . Gujaratis are different breed only . They deeply following Indian religious and traditions very sincerely . It's in their DNA. My parents still remember their amazing time there and reminice the family centric culture hey saw everywhere around. It was like this in other parts of India as well. But we unfortunately were too fast to follow the west and lose our strong points !.
