I had to go to a dry cleaners to xollect our suits, but the dry cleaner man, Mr. Griffin, lost the waist coats, so i had an argument with him. Then Big John turned up in the Boshmobile, and i ran out of time so i left it on a cliffhanger and 'to be continued...'

HEY GUYS! If anyone's up for it, here's a practice Q5 I did for you guys to mark. Marking always helps you improve! :) The rickety frames of the old house looked as though they were about to fall. There was not a single plank of wood on that unimpressive roof without some type of damage. Tapping my wet boots on the dry concrete path, I made my way towards the shed. The lacklustre appearance of the shed contrasted with the sprawling fields in every direction. The lackadaisical lump of dirt, directly next to the house, lay carelessly as the gentle wind breathed through it. The rain had stopped for the last few days allowing the sparse sunshine to illuminate the prairie. Every flower, which was once gulping for breath under the merciless onslaughts of constant rain, had now blossomed. The mountains were as colossal as ever, like snow-capped guardians watching over the peaceful prairie. Every object in view seemed at harmony - except the house. The wooden structure, which showed signs of once being an ornate and well-decorated building, looked empty. It seemed as if the previous owners had taken away every item alongside the memories and moments shared inside it; leaving it barren. Frighteningly, the two large windows on each end coupled with the wide, steel door in the centre made the house seem like an indignant creature. A creature who had been abandoned and forgotten. The long forgotten house was covered in years and years of 'art' left by reckless teenagers but the steel door looked impeccable (as if it had just been installed). Carefully prising the door open, I stepped in. After taking some seconds to register my surroundings, I began walking to the centre of the room like a moth to the flame. The insipid features of the empty room contrasted heavily with the masterpiece lying directly in the centre. It was a piece of art like no other. Its ornate framing glinted in the few rays of light which shone upon it. The vibrancy of the paint, the detail of the shapes and the flawless composition left me absolutely dumbfounded. Carefully, I used the tips of my fingers to feel the frame which was engrained with floral patterns and encrusted with what seemed to be gold. It was gold. Possibly the purest gold I had ever seen. This gold was not just on the frame but every little detail on the luscious painting was made with gold. I took five steps backwards and stared at the painting in awe. It was an angel, bright with the light of its candour, surrounded by a blissful darkness. It truly was a masterpiece.

thank you! your video is the one i played before the exam and it helped me a lot with confidence. For question 5 i didn't do my best work but roughly wrote about a girl who was a 'dreamer' in the sense that she was always in the library, which her dad disagreed with. her biggest dream being to be a pirate and then skipping a bit forward her dad was telling her off for being in the library when she told him her plan and got up to walk away. their argument was dialogue just repeated "yes" and "no" before she walked off. i didn't get to put what i wanted as a last sentence but was still able to leave it on a cliffhanger. Do you thunk that that was enough for the argument because it was only brief and occured at the end, though I guess you could argue that they were arguing the whole time in terms of their beliefs and attitude towards things. the no yes conversation was the only dialogue spoken aloud however.

Here’s how things went for me: questions 1, 4, and 5 went remarkably well; I leapt at opportunities to use the ludicrously grandiloquent vocabulary I have accumulated as a logophile (A.K.A. weird freak), elucidated my standpoints and analysed with clarity, and wrote roughly two pages for Q.4 and Q.5. I have no doubt in my mind these answers will net me a lot of marks, however for question two, I only wrote one paragraph and two pathetic sentences (big worry). In question 3, my mind drew a blank at the word, ‘cyclical’, so I ended up referring to the structural technique as a “repeating structure”. Also, should I be concerned that I’ve written a description? I consider it to be my forte, but I’m not sure if the mark scheme will favour it. Most importantly, I fear Q.2 and Q.3 will leave a lasting impression on the Examiner, causing them to subconsciously establish a final grade in their head before they reach the final answers. Will the words, ‘exsiccate’, ‘refulgent’, ‘pulchritudinous’, ‘respair’ and ‘resplendent’ save me from being cooked? Thank you for the support over the past week! I found this channel about a week ago, and - much to my astonishment - I am finding myself watching your GCSE English Literature videos despite lit being over. Stop being so entertaining, Mr. Salles! 👍

Question 3: Can you continuously say "there is a change in focus" or will that not get marked up due to repetition, if so then how will I continuously talk about a change of focus only? And do you literally mean only write about a change in focus for structure.

HEY GUYS! If anyone's up for it, here's a practice Q5 I did for you guys to mark. Marking always helps you improve! :) TYPE : ARTICLE TOPIC : Can Virtual Reality replace Mountain Exploration? With the rise of emerging technology such as Virtual Reality, there is one question in every person’s mind: ‘Will Virtual Reality really let us do anything and everything from the comfort of our homes?’. The simple answer is no, for now. Virtual Reality is truly limitless and if I had to roll the dice I would say that all we need is fifty or so years to make it almost impossible to tell the difference between a virtual world and the real world. As limitless as Virtual Reality is, today, I would like to focus on the idea of mountain exploration. Now we’ve all seen amazing news stories of those courageous people scaling Everest or K2 but what if we skip the ‘hard part’? Well, I believe that this is an absolute terrible idea and I'm going to explain exactly why. Let's begin with the first and most Impactful reason why Virtual Reality could but should never replace live mountain exploration. People. The social and cultural impact that this would have on so many mountainous countries is shocking. Let's take Nepal for example: Thirty percent of Nepal's industry relies on tourism due to the would famous Mount Everest. And Everest is not just known for its tourism. Thousands of people have climbed this mountain, raising millions, if not billions, of dollars for charity. And the reason that people donate is because the act of climbing a mountain is not just about personal achievement or gain; it is symbolic of all the different struggles and challenges we as humans face and have to overcome. Without the risk and struggle, what do we have left? To end with, I would like to talk about an issue that is perhaps the most important. Jobs. Around Ninety percent of the mountain exploration guides for Everest are locals who are trying to make a living and feed their family. Take away mountain exploration and countless people are Left jobless in a poverty-stricken country. For some, this next reason will seem extremely obvious but it truly is surprising how many people do not even consider the health benefits of being in the outdoors. Most families are often glued to their screens either for work or leisure and the yearly trip to Scotland or Wales is the perfect chance for them to recharge in the most natural environment possible. Snatching this away from them means that screens take over every part of our lives and one can only imagine the effects of that. It certainly won’t get rid of your headache! Studies show that people who take the time to regularly visit the outdoors are likely to live 10-15 years longer. Is it not amazing to see just how much your life can change from something as simple as going outside? So why get rid of that amazing and irreplaceable feeling of being in the outdoors? Well, the most common arguments for why Virtual Reality is a better altemative are that it is risky and damages the environment. There's no doubt that doing something like scaling a mountain is risky but so is waking up every morning choosing to do things that you don't want to do even though you know tomorrow may not come! Life itself is a risk so why shy away from a bit of danger? As for the notion that mountain exploration is damaging the natural world; I would argue that it does exactly the opposite. Of course, to some extent, it does have a slight effect on the landscape of mountains which often leads to landslides but I think it has one benefit which outweighs everything else. It opens up peoples eyes. Looking at images of these beautiful behemoths on Instagram is useful but actually experiencing the breathtaking sense of tranquility at the peak of a mountain will make you value nature like never before. Nature is something that us humans will never be able to replicate fully. Sure we can somewhat replicate the feeling that we get but our connection with Mother Nature runs so much deeper than that. So let's expand the bounds of human advancement and technology but let us not also forget where we came from.

Story idea that im going to use (please tell me if you think this is bad) A Dystopian world that had a normal civilization like one of today but a flood caused by demons has set society back thousands of years to using boats to travel and weapons limited to swords and old pistols and rifles. Many different groups of people from different lands use magic that was discovered after the world flooded in warefare against each other. Also people that have perished get sent to an underwater hellscape existing many places all at once in the same time with the only way of escape being a trial chosen by the demons. Or if they choose to stay they will stay in an underwater world with monsters that endanger their life. Rate the story (did i go overboard)

i dont know if you're gonna see this but DO NOT use this story. wayyyy too complicated and you won't cover it all and it will just be an overcomplicated mess as mr everything english showed in his video "aqa has lost the plot", someone got 40/40 for writing about someone sitting a english language exam and insulting the questions. you don't need a novel level storyline, just focus on language and structure

Hi sir Thope you are well So today we i did the language paper And question five i chose the one that said write a story about a disagreement Now i did do that But here is what i did at the end I wrote something along the lines of "Meditating. Cows bark, dogs moo. Sheeps howl, wolves baa." That was the last line of the essay It has nothing to do with the disagreement part of the essay Basically there was this girl who dies while in the hospital and everything But the question was what would u think if u see something like that

Thank you so much for the help, I completed the paper in reverse order (60 mins for Q5, 30 for Q4, 15 for Q2&3, 10 for everything else as I have ET) but I felt slightly rushed for time with Q2, Is it still possible to get a 9 if my Q2 is a bit rubbish but the Q4&5 are pretty decent? Once again thanks so much for the help!

Mr Salles, I used what you’ve said in this video for structuring my answers, so for example in question 2 I gave quotes for each point, stated the technique used and gave 1-2 explanations which were pretty basic but still described the effect of the ‘heat’ in the extract. Overall I gave 8 small explanations linking to different points. However I’m not sure if this was how I was supposed to do it. Is it possible for me to get 8 marks using this structure.
