HEY GUYS! If anyone's up for it, here's a practice Q5 I did for you guys to mark. Marking always helps you improve! :) The rickety frames of the old house looked as though they were about to fall. There was not a single plank of wood on that unimpressive roof without some type of damage. Tapping my wet boots on the dry concrete path, I made my way towards the shed. The lacklustre appearance of the shed contrasted with the sprawling fields in every direction. The lackadaisical lump of dirt, directly next to the house, lay carelessly as the gentle wind breathed through it. The rain had stopped for the last few days allowing the sparse sunshine to illuminate the prairie. Every flower, which was once gulping for breath under the merciless onslaughts of constant rain, had now blossomed. The mountains were as colossal as ever, like snow-capped guardians watching over the peaceful prairie. Every object in view seemed at harmony - except the house. The wooden structure, which showed signs of once being an ornate and well-decorated building, looked empty. It seemed as if the previous owners had taken away every item alongside the memories and moments shared inside it; leaving it barren. Frighteningly, the two large windows on each end coupled with the wide, steel door in the centre made the house seem like an indignant creature. A creature who had been abandoned and forgotten. The long forgotten house was covered in years and years of 'art' left by reckless teenagers but the steel door looked impeccable (as if it had just been installed). Carefully prising the door open, I stepped in. After taking some seconds to register my surroundings, I began walking to the centre of the room like a moth to the flame. The insipid features of the empty room contrasted heavily with the masterpiece lying directly in the centre. It was a piece of art like no other. Its ornate framing glinted in the few rays of light which shone upon it. The vibrancy of the paint, the detail of the shapes and the flawless composition left me absolutely dumbfounded. Carefully, I used the tips of my fingers to feel the frame which was engrained with floral patterns and encrusted with what seemed to be gold. It was gold. Possibly the purest gold I had ever seen. This gold was not just on the frame but every little detail on the luscious painting was made with gold. I took five steps backwards and stared at the painting in awe. It was an angel, bright with the light of its candour, surrounded by a blissful darkness. It truly was a masterpiece.

Yo , I’m not an examiner so don’t take my mark to heart, but this story sounds a lot like description and it’s quite short for smth ur meant to writ In 45 mins, so I would give it like 26 ish because it’s doesn’t flow too well, however there is great use of vocabulary so well done man , it’s not that bad yk

Good use of extensive and ambitious vocabulary with conscious use of a wide range of punctuation with high level of accuracy. However, try to ensure that each sentence within each paragraph flows better to create a compelling description. Level 4 for AO6 Lower level 4 for AO5 33 - 34/40

I also did sth similar for my GCSE two years ago where I prepped a story. I took inspiration from one of your stories in your book that had many stories (can't remember which book it was, but it was the story about the dog with green eyes meeting a man) Really really useful book btw 100% recommend. I modified it and changed it to a story of a man meeting a cat that turned into a tiger and ate him (got 9 in the end). I feel that prepping a story that is simple with very little plot like that is way more helpful and enables plenty of space to write descriptions and use linguisitc techniques. I feel that this story about elephant might have too much plot going on (with all the characters and the relationship between the characters and the background). Whilst it is a very interesting story, unless you are a very able candidate, you might not be able to write this much in the short time frame given to explain the entire plot whilst still filling in your techniques.

Hi sir can you please review this story? The sun cast its glow over Kruger National Park, casting long shadows across the golden savannah. In a rugged jeep, two park rangers, Daniel and Leon, bumped along a dusty track, the vehicle's tyres kicking up small clouds of ochre-coloured dust. Daniel, the seasoned veteran with a grizzled beard, glanced over at Leon, his young and eager protégé, gripping a rifle loaded with a tranquiliser dart. “Remember, Leon,” Daniel said, his voice steady, “Maximus is the key to saving our elephants. He’s a massive bull, and we need to move him to a safer part of the park to ensure the future of the herd.” Leon nodded, eyes wide with a mix of excitement and nerves. “Got it, Daniel. But I don’t feel good about this.” Daniel chuckled softly. “That’s why we’re a team. We handle whatever comes our way.” Their target was Maximus, a colossal bull elephant whose reputation was as grand as his stature. His tusks, long and curved like ancient scimitars, gleamed in the dappled sunlight. His ears, as large as the sails of an old ship, flapped gently, warding off flies. The ground seemed to tremble beneath his weight as he moved with the grace of a dancer and the power of a goliath. Today, Maximus's heart was not in his usual leisurely stroll. He was on a mission, driven by an instinct as old as time. The scent of Josephine, a beautiful female elephant, was intoxicating, drawing him like a moth to a flame. She was the Juliet to his Romeo, and her presence made the younger elephants restless and eager to prove themselves. Yet, Maximus, the undisputed alpha, would brook no challengers. Daniel and Leon watched from a distance; the jeep parked beneath the shade of an acacia tree. The air was thick with tension. Leon, his hands trembling, took aim. The rifle's scope framed Maximus perfectly. He exhaled slowly, trying to steady his nerves, and then squeezed the trigger. The tranquiliser dart flew true, embedding itself in Maximus's thick hide. For a moment, the great beast staggered, his colossal form swaying like a tree in a storm. Then he caught the alluring scent of Josephine once more and, with a bellow that echoed across the plains, charged after her, scattering the younger bulls in his wake. Josephine, coy and capricious, led him on a merry chase towards the river. Normally, Maximus would have revelled in the pursuit, but today, the tranquiliser began to take its toll. His strides grew laboured, and his vision blurred. As he reached the river's deepest part, his legs gave way, and he began to sink. “Daniel, he’s going to drown!” Leon cried. His heart pounded in his chest. Without waiting for a response, Leon leapt from the jeep and sprinted towards the river. The water was cool, biting at his skin as he plunged in. With Herculean effort, he reached Maximus, whose trunk was slipping below the surface. Leon grabbed the trunk and heaved it above his head, his shoulders quivering with the strain. “Hold on, big guy,” Leon grunted, his voice a mere whisper against the roar of the river. Minutes felt like hours as he stood there, chest-deep in water, keeping Maximus’s trunk aloft. The tranquilliser’s grip tightened on the giant, but Leon’s determination did not waver. Finally, Daniel arrived with a makeshift stretcher and a team of rangers. Together, they hauled Maximus to safety, the enormous elephant breathing deeply but steadily. Leon, exhausted, collapsed on the riverbank, watching as the tranquilised titan was loaded onto the stretcher. As they moved Maximus to a safer part of the park, Leon glanced back at the river. Crocodiles, previously lying in wait, slithered back into the depths, denied their prize.

National statistics for English as that there was about a 1% increase in grades 7-9, and a 1% decrease in grades 4-6.

He has never written a story in his life. He usually goes for the description but is quite literal. Never normally gets more than a 2/3 in both lit and lang. He got 4s in both, almost 5s. Your videos helped him to have the confidence to just write!

Dear Mr Salles, your AIC videos and Macbeth videos made me love studying English Literature, and find Macbeth and AIC FUN. To say that I regretted not watching your videos sooner, is an understatement. Thank you for all the help, not only in my exams but for reigniting me with passion for this subject. Also this is an optional: The question we got for our exam board was 'What type of mother is Sybil Birling presented as in the play?'. It seems like an interesting question, and I've been dwelling on what a perfect response would be. I wonder how you would have tackled it?
