I've had marks like 3, 4 and 5s in my last year, English was a bit more difficult for me since I joined in year 7 with 0 English knowledge (i'm Italian). And then when I finally got a 6, I kept getting 6s, and that's it. I just couldn't get higher than that, and sometimes I've wondered if it was just because my teacher was too strict with marks, or something else, like maybe I wasn't writing enough. So I started to write a lot more than usual, like pages and pages long essays, but the marks didn't improve much, just 6as. I watched some of your videos for more insights later on, and it really helped me with my mocks, since I actually got a 7, like first time since forever. And I used just a short plan, didn't even do much for it, when I usually have tons of time to plan out my essays for class and write them at home. So, I was really surprised and happy with myself. I've currently got a 30/30 for poetry comparison and poetry too, which improved a LOT because the last time, I only got a 3a. I've got to say, watching your videos really helped me improve and see where I was making mistakes, how to manage to structure my responses well and etc. For that, I'll be forever grateful. Thank youuu!!! Keep being awesome mr salles. Edit: I'd just like to say that I did get a greade 8 in my other mock and got a nine in my GCSEs so gotta be grateful for that too ^^ Thanks!

I am a Year 9 student. I am quite average, getting grades 4-5 with an occasional 3. Recently I had my final exams for English year 9 on An Inspector Calls. I did almost no revision at home due to my poor time management, but the very night before my exam I spent a while revising, and watched a bunch of your videos to help me. I ended up getting a Grade 7 (22/30 + 4 spag, 76%), which is much higher than I anticipated. To say that your videos are effective is a massive understatement. Thank you very much.

Your underlying problem is probably not how you feel, but what you believe. It has to do with thinking that you have got worse when you should have got better, like someone going on a diet and getting fatter (which actually happens all the time). The issue is that you are focusing on grades, rather than what you know. If you approach each subject as something that you just need to know more about, the grades will take care of themselves. Most students don’t start revision till April. So if you just focus on learning more from now, this won’t be ‘clutch’ revision. It will be an easy way to get better and better. If you keep testing yourself on what you have learned, you will have evidence that you are improving, and can change your beliefs.
