Every year the gymnasts used to get better. But not anymore.. Why are THESE gymnasts and routines SOOOO much more pleasing to the eye?
@anthonyvhoyos3 күн бұрын
The requirements on beam were not obscure and not annoying. It's a requirement to go low on the beam and go sideways on the beam at some point. Additionally Options are very limited for Connections with only a few being actually being valuable... dance skills are getting harder and harder to get credit... with more requirements to get credit than ever...so why would anyone put alot of energy into turning jumps more than a 1/2.... no point. Too many strange deductions, not enough available connections or bonuses, and totally random requirements.

ROUTINES 01:55 - Anna Pavlova 🇷🇺 05:30 - Alexandra Eremia 🇷🇴 🥉 08:27 - Allana Slater 🇦🇺 11:13 - Courtney Kupets 🇺🇲 14:08 - Catalina Ponor 🇷🇴 🥇 16:40 - Zhang Nan 🇨🇳 19:27 - Carly Patterson 🇺🇲 🥈 22:07 - Li Ya 🇨🇳

Pavlova deserved the bronze here. She had a slight wobble on her Kochetkova, but still managed to earn a 10.0 start value and stuck her dismount beautifully. Eremia's routine was less exciting, had worse form than Pavlova, and she had a large step on her dismount. This was a case of the typical overscoring for Romanians during this time in gymnastics. Pavlova also deserved the silver in the all around here as well as the silver on vault. She was underscored and underappreciated throughout her entire gymnastics career and she definitely deserved more medals (like in the beam finals at the 2008 Beijing olympics over Cheng Fei's horrible routine).

I’m fine with Eremia getting the bronze here, through totally agree about Pavlova being super under-awarded in her career. Especially in the all-around here.

Ugh what a disastrous final for China...Zhang Nan and Li Ya are spectacular gymnasts

What is the name of the skill after the switch side in Eremia's routine? Some sort of Shushunova variation? It seems to have gone by the wayside in recent decades. ETA: It looks like it wasn't named for anyone. I'm curious who did it first?
@lb7617Ай бұрын
It's called a side Shushunova with a half twist. This skill was popular during the 1997-2000 and 2001-2004 CoP :)

ughhhhhh im not mad that Ponor won but the fact that it's SO CLOSE is what gets me
@murasakino101Ай бұрын
What's the problem with it being close? Carly literally had a solid routine and a dismount just as difficult as ponor's so of course it'd be close
@DouglasJefferson-tp9kp20 күн бұрын
@@murasakino101 But Carly had a hop on the landing, and Ponor did not. So if the rest of the routines were equal it still should not have been close at that point.
@murasakino10119 күн бұрын
@@DouglasJefferson-tp9kp uh yeah she had a hop and got fairly deducted for it. Other than that, she didn't really have any other major mistakes so I still don't get why it being close is a big deal other than people just being toxic for their favorites smh
@samperez172717 күн бұрын
@@DouglasJefferson-tp9kp Ponor had a small wobble on her routine that Shannon Miller pointed out. The final scores seem just fine.
@DouglasJefferson-tp9kp7 күн бұрын
@@murasakino101 You said their routines were equal apart from the hop. Well the hop is a tenth by the rules so the difference in their final scores should be atleast a tenth, or atleast half a tenth if you consider it being such a small hop she should get only half a tenth, but was nowhere near that. And Ponor is not a favorite of mine either so your last comment is just dumb on your part, LOL!

So many errors.
@Paylala8 ай бұрын
Uh definitely not lmao. Alexandra's routine was quite obviously better. Kupets ended very strong but there were way too many errors in the first portion of her routine and a perfect dismount doesn't right those wrongs.

@@Paylala plus Kupets had only a 9.8 start value
@saragrant97498 ай бұрын
Start value hurt her and she had some errors. Score was fair, definitely not a medal worthy routine.
@rolandgreen74848 ай бұрын
@@saragrant9749 what was different about her routine from Nationals content wise, as I know she had a 10 start value for sure at Nationals. Did she take something out or move something around? Since at the Games she was out of only a 9.8 each beam routine she did.
