Okay the “👏 talk about it 👏” and the “👏I’m tapping you in, I’m tapping you out👏” - obsessed! I’m sure myself and many other educators will be using that tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your craft and creativity as always! You inspire so many, myself included 💞

I picked up summer school for the first time this year. I have more energy in me thanks to being a support teacher for first grade. It was also my first year getting Rime Magic in my hands. I was the one who heard about it from you this past summer and then found it sitting unused in our resource room! Sooo I have been using you to learn how to use it. Anyway this summer I plan to do what you have done in maybe a 3 day pace since we only have 4 weeks. You definitely have given me so many ideas this year even as we close out the year. I appreciate you and would definitely like to send you ways to say thank you. So I will be checking out your wishlist as a small way of saying thank you!

Did you even watch the video. Also how could you possibly be such a high and mighty seasoned teacher and yet not know basic grammar and sentence conventions. You replied to Abbey 'teach you some manners' but you're the one with a condescending and accusatory comment on a video you clearly didn't even watch. I'm 30 minutes into the video and they haven't sung at all, but really there is plenty of research out there that proves engagement = retention and singing is one of many ways to increase engagement and thus increase learning and retention. This is common sense but I guess your way is the only right way since you're a ✨seasoned veteran teacher✨

Mayleen, Student Story Time !!!! A Number of My Teachers did that for management but note that I said a number of them not all of them. I'm sorry for not telling you this before you visited Ron Clark Academy. The differences being that A. I had to put my name and check mark(s) on the chalk board and yes the one where the whole class can see, B. long story short, name on the board and each check mark beside the name meant more penalization whereas your name on the board and 2 check mark system is like a visual 3 strikes, you're out kind of system. I wish that I had you as one of My Teachers because you are or try to be more forgiving towards your students and they even ultimately come around to you and they love you for that. Keep it up. The end is coming. - Dwight

I have had violent students. I do a similar name on the board system and a student became violent and screaming/punching/throwing items when held accountable. Their grownups are usually uninvolved or do not care, if I'm even able to get in touch with them in the first place. I know you clearly do not have any students like that, fortunately, but wondering what your approach might be if you did because I'm at my wits end. I almost quit because of this. I'm subbing right now and there is at least one violently defiant student in every class I sub, at every school, in every district -- sometimes more than one. It's bizarre. I am going back to my own classroom in the Fall and very terrified of having another situation like this in my classroom in which myself and my students do not feel safe. Behaviors are expected, reminders are expected, but what is an educator supposed to do if their student becomes a danger to everyone when held accountable?? Love you and everything you do Mayleen, you're a huge inspiration to me.
@MrsCallsCampers
@MrsCallsCampers Жыл бұрын
I've had a violent student before but luckily every student who I have ever had that really struggled like this, their parents always wanted to help (some didn't know what to do but wanted to help). I think it's super important to have administration that can step in when this happens. I know at my school now, if I need admin to step in for whatever reason, they'll come. There have been times where I've had to evacuate kids from a student who was being violent it's always scary but if your admin can't step in and remove the student then there's absolutely nothing you can do! You NEED that! Otherwise let your families know what options they have for counseling, therapy, etc but if they aren't involved you can't do much. Just remember that even if they hate it or tell you they hate you, having a grown up give them structure and be consistent with them is actually what they need. They shouldn't have to guess with you - they know what to expect and sometimes that's more than they get outside of school. Sorry you've had such a hard experience in your district. Your safety and the kids safety should always be number 1 :(
@KassieJane
@KassieJane Жыл бұрын
@@MrsCallsCampers Thank you for the reply. Yes, in my situation, I didn't really have admin support. It was always "you're not doing enough if this student isn't improving". All I can do is hope I have support in my next school.
