I love watching your vlogs, long or short. 🥰 We are doing the NWEA MAP tests this week. I teach a 1-2 combo class. Also, I feel you on last week’s Vlog when you talked about having a handful of kids that just can’t seem to control themselves in the classroom. I am struggling with the same thing this year more than in the past. Although I think every year it gets worse and worse. I have 16 students, 10 of which are boys. They have a lot of energy! 😂

I'm a brand new teacher in Las Vegas for 1st grade. These vlogs do help in giving me extra ideas on what I can try and do as a teacher for my class. I think having fun with vowels using secret stories can make it exciting. My school is going to use Heggerty curriculum for phonics just waiting on the shipment order. I think what I would love to see is how you teach math. I feel like teaching math is one of the hardest subjects to teach because there can be a lot of tricky concepts. Even though there is more than one right answer. I usually do the I-We-You model where I model the problem and tools then we do it together and they try it after.

Yay that you’re getting heggerty! Heggerty is actually not phonics but it’s amazing for phonemic awareness so yay!!!!!! I just came up with a new math block…I’ll share!

This was soooo very helpful! I loved your last vlog from yesterday as well. I did some research on Heggerty (because you have raved about it so much I wanted to see if they had a preschool version)…. Can I just say I practically squealed when I found out that they did - I can’t wait to try the sample with my littles tomorrow!!! What do your other students do that are not testing? I’m having trouble figuring out what to have the other students do to keep quiet. They haven’t been introduced to the iPads yet so that is not an option yet. Does that make sense haha 😂

Hello!👋 I have a question that does NOT have to do with this video content, but I hope someone can help. I purchased the Digital Teacher's planner this year, I know that I can use it every year (which is the BEST thing EVER) however, is there a way to save or archive the content from this planner before clearing/deleting it and reusing it? I want to make sure at least I can use whatever I saved for that year as a future reference. Thanks for the help!

Just download the blank planner again and name it something different :) I keep my old planners in a folder in GoodNotes :)

I know you use your read alouds to teach all the comprehension, vocab, etc. Do you also have some kind of textbook for reading? What do the children use to read to you? One more question and I'll stop. :-) Have you ever had a teacher beside your room say anything about your class being "loud"? I once had a coworker come complain because my students were too enthusiastic in their learning and were "disrupting" her class next door. She called me out in front of the kids. I feel the kids are more engaged participating and enthusiastic.
