This is amazing. The part about rotating the hips slowly and pushing the arms away with little to no hinge is amazing. The swing feels so effortless and consistent now. This is as close to a quick fix as I’ve ever seen.

Caution with this "push" move. Some people push too early and that sets up a looping backswing that comes too far inside/out causing a massive hook. Just something to look for so you can control it. JM2C

Been away from the game for 10 years. Used to be a good golfer. This is opposite of how I used to start my swing. I rotated my club back inside to set my wrists. As I've been getting stronger and back to swinging full shots I've definitely been missing a lot of shots. I'm going to give this a shot since I can't continue doing what I have been. Before my injury I was a single digit handicap. I'm pretty sure I'm a bogey golfer now. I have a lot of work to do but it's great getting back into it. I'll have to check out your other videos.

Perhaps I'm just not understanding what he is wanting us to do. If you extend your lead arm out at the same time your turning, your setting up a situation that will add a great deal of tension in your forearms and shoulders which will restrict your back swing and also encourages an upper body sway off the ball if your timing with your hips isn't perfect. I had a problem for a number of years with overextending my lead arm on the back swing which made it almost impossible to move forward correctly. It took me a long time to take this tension out of my forearms which allowed me to make a deeper turn and then release my lower body forward. But if this works for you then great. Nicklaus stated that he never wants to feel any tension in his forearms at address. This does just that

I've always learned A TON from your videos. Here's an idea for a new one...not sure if you'll read this or not but if you do, hopefully you'll like this idea. Topic: What makes a great practice facility? Specifically, what kinds of grasses/conditions/course-up-keep do you feel makes a great driving range practice area? This is obviously a wide range of opinions, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. Also.....for full swing practice (and short game to some degree), what kind of hitting mats and chipping pads do you like the best that you think course superintendents could use in their practice areas? What kinds of pitfalls can arise from poor technique on mats or poorly kept grass? And any other practice facility opinions you'd like to inject. I happen to have a putting green in my backyard in Phoenix, AZ - it's about 800 sq ft. I always find practice area and short game stuff fascinating, so if you want to cover this topic OR if you're ever in AZ and want to shoot a "backyard short game" episode from "Club 3130" and become an "honorary member" (which just means signing the guest book) let me know!!! Best wishes on your continued pursuits for pro golf qualifiers!!! Very inspiring sir! Eric

I showed this to my favorite locals at the driving range maybe 5 years ago, them coming over to see what I was doing. 120 yards to pin, gap wedge, 3/4 swing (or so it felt), 15 greens hit in a row including a struck flagstick before they stopped me asking questions. I explained how simple, them still concluding hitting a ball on the turf is subject to magic forces, never applying anything I said or what they witnessed. I'm not a hypnotist, but maybe you can be. It's not that humans are idiots, they're really just hypnotized by beliefs. Watch a stage hypnotist working, watch him/her convince a subject the chair they're sitting in is a golden retriever. Watch the subject pet and praise the chair. Then watch a challenge to their belief and the mayhem resulting. Then think golf.

Are you kidding me. I’m 62 years old and always hit short. I even changed to Hybrids to get a little more distance. And yes breaking my wrist to get just a little extra. I never pay any attention to the how-to videos but still watch every now and then. Now with that being said your video was on the tv, and something just clicked. Played 9 after work Friday at Goose Creek with no time for the range started trying to push the club and the first swing off the tee I just killed it. If I hit 250 yards I’m happy as a clam and did with a few exceptions were I rotated a little to fast, keep that drive all afternoon. I play mid to low nineties for the most part, with a goal of breaking 90 this summer. Putting the driver aside, the same swing applied to all my clubs. I don’t think I have ever had as many swings where I never even feel the club contact the ball. It was frigging great. Big test is tomorrows 18 at Indian Hills. Thank you for the tip.

But I know exactly why. I roll it out like you described. Now if I just go back to a full power chip instead of rolling I go all the way back and wrist naturally hinges now thank you so much

Look I’m 47 and played golf for 15 years and for the life of me I cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong. Sometimes I hinge and sometimes I don’t but it has screwed me up severely cause now I have no idea what to do. I hit my seven iron 135 ish but my left wrist bends to the left right after contact and most of the time lined up with my right leg. I believe it’s beyond fixing. Straight balls usually but no power at all and I was a powerful baseball player. It sucks and makes me wanna quit.

I like it. I have a tendency to start my back swing with a little wrist movement. But after watching a lot of your video and one on taking 3/4 back swings, I started to hold my wrist position more and just let it hinge on it's own when I start my downswing - which I think is what you are suggesting here. Works a lot better. Much more consistent - especially when chipping or taking less than a full swing. Great stuff.

How your wrists move is so key. My swing thought was to cock the right wrist back, instead of cocking it up. This automatically makes the left wrist flat(or slightly bowed), and lays the shaft on plane(right palm holding a tray). Almost all amateurs get this wrong. They’re trying to cock the club up, and that puts the club across the line, with a cupped left wrist, and an open face, just like you pointed out. Great video! I remember my left wrist getting sore when I first changed this. It felt strange, but it was so worth the change. Much more predictable flight, with much better strike.
@wallstreetoneil
@wallstreetoneil 2 жыл бұрын
Freddie has a four-knuckle left-hand grip so he's allowed to have a cupped wrist as this equates to a square clubface. If you have a traditional two-knuckle or even a one-knuckle grip like Hogan, then embrace the bowed left wrist at the top, like Morikawa and Hovland, as this equates to your Right-wrist being in full extension at the top - which is the best position to deliver maximum power - and it also equates with you not letting the club cross the line which can create further issues if you don't re-route the club immediately in transition.
@ChildoftheMostHigh1

Looking back on this lesson it's more like taking it straight back and low feeling more like a fluid pendulum and not feeling so tense trying to cock the wrist. Now it is more like a "swing" actually. Not mechanical.
