Played Legends a few times, even won a tourney there. Great track. And, I worked at Chateau when this course was being built. I walked this course like many others in the 1990's when Greg Norman had the Shark Shootout. It was so much better than Riviera aka Hogan's Alley. I believe the buy in is an equity share like stock. You are betting that the price goes up. It takes an enormous amount of dollars to maintain the facility. As I remember in the 1990's when the Delmonte CEO built it, he would not even allow a PGA pro to use the facilities. The membership was about 150 members and you could as a member walk on the course without a tee time. I am sure times have changed. Of note when built they relocated many HUGE oak trees since the course was heavily wooded. Remarkable feat. It is all about corporate presence when you take your business clients out to impress them for the future business. Many write off the expense as business entertainment at least percentage wise. They at the time were very selective on who they let in as a member so the membership had value in that you met other members who were connected and had access. It is a waste of hard earned money if you don't have a business. I agree.
