In 1992 I worked for a medical school here in Texas. I was in an IT department in a basement office. Down the hall from us they had an experimental MRI machine that used liquid Helium to supercool its magnets. Because they were super cooled. Not only was the magnets super powerful. They also could not turn them off at the end of the day. Outside the main door to this MRI department was a big sign saying, "No metal past this point." It went on to say you cannot have keys or coins in your pocket. Any credit card strips would be wiped clean. No metal frame glasses, no pens with metal.... You get the picture. They could only use incandescent light bulbs for lighting. Inside the rooms close to the MRI machine they had old wooden desks and wooden chairs for the staff. Well it seems they needed another desk and the facilities staff told them they were trying to find another wooden desk but it could be a few days before they found one. The weekend facilities staff saw the requisition for a desk for the MRI office. I am not sure if it mentioned it had to be wooden or not. But the weekend crew knew where some desks where. Metal ones of course. They got as far as the door leading into the actual room with the MRI. When the metal 200 pound desk along with the dolly it was on was pulled from their hands and slammed into the super expensive MRI. Destroying it. Luckily no one was between the MRI and the desk when the collided. They did say it would take a year before they could build another MRI to replace the destroyed one.

Yep, tho it can probably also pull un-magnetic compounds out of their chemical bonds too, even the organic particles in your body with get ripped apart toward its polls at a certain distance... And not just that, it will be strong, the radiowaves photons which are the electromagnetic field waves will be in such insane densities and probably shorter wavelengths, so it will fry you like a super microwave, if it wasnt bad enough already.

I love magnets that much that one night when working in a retail warehouse I went out of my way to "fix" a pallet truck that somehow had had a security tag remover magnet get caught in the wheel completely immobilizing it. I didn't care about the fact the mangement thought it was good I was trying to save them money on a pallet truck. I cared about getting the most powerful magnet I've ever gotten for free. I have no idea how powerful the average magnet is in a security tag removal device but it took me a good 15 minutes to figure out a way I could even get the magnet to detach from the inner metal housing of the wheel (of the pallet truck.) I ended up basically whacking it hard enough to crack a chunk off it but a good 85% of the magnet dislodged, pinged off down the warehouse and glued itself to a "2 sider" metal cage that retail places use. It took me another ten minutes to figure out a way to remove the magnet from the bars of that cage. It involved me booting it with me steel toe cap boots. I have chunky legs and big feet. I was however defeated in my attempts to remove the magnet from my safety boots.... I spent the rest of the shift with that magnet stuck to my boots and the biggest grin on my face as I proceeded to break all health and safety rules by pulling full metal cages around one legged, via a magnet stuck to my boot. Management were not impressed by this point. I was ordered to remove the magnet. I said come take it off if you think it can be done. None of them could, it was hilarious and like something out of a black and white old timey comedy. Eventually they gave up and suggested I get a pair of shoes off the shop floor. I pointed out the fact it's not like I can just wear them once and put them back so not only did I score a pretty cool magnet, I scored a free pair of shoes as well. And that ladies and gentlemen is the story behind my self made bit of magnetic art on my desk. It's being added to over the years, I generally just throw things at it and see what sticks tehe.
