Slight fixes, the attribute STs (saving throws) are the attributes divided by 3 and add in character level. The average of wit and will of 8 would place the bushi in the learning rate of 2 column

Bushido was first published in 1979 by Tyr Games making it the first Asian genre TTRPG. It was later published in 1981 by FGU (Fantasy Games Unlimited), which is the version most people have of this game, including me. Fantastic game! Although very complex and way many different non-unified systems for everything. Its strength was in the background and the setting -- it really had this evocative feel that you were playing in Japan or Okinawa in the ancient times. Setting was so much better than TSRs fake Oriental Adventures (Kara Tur) setting -- which I've never liked. Interesting trivia -- FGU also published another Asian themed TTRPG in 1980 called "Land of the Rising Sun" you just don't hear much about it because Bushido is, by far, the better of the two.

@@quantus5875 I actually ran a Bushido adventure that I wrote based off the “Hanging Pheasant Scene” from Shogun TV Series (80s), at virtual Gen Con back in 2020. I simplified the rules a bit, but it still maintained that authentic feel. Bushido as well as a few other FGU TTRPGs could definitely use an update or republishing.

@@DM_Bluddworth Cool! Yes, I ran one of the premade adventures for it "Valley of the Mists" and a few small mini adventures I created for it back in 1981 or 1982. Never played it again after that. Would love to see a second edition of the Bushido game -- with different rules -- it is the semi-realistic "setting" of this game and all the trappings in this game that are so incredible -- not the mechanical rules!! Yes -- definitely the game captures Japan and Okinawa from olden times beautifully with some magic and monsters from Japanese folklore. You know -- now I wonder if an "authentic'/'realistic' Asian theme game or setting had been done since? Not counting D&D's Oriental Adventures (Kara Tur) or Paizo -- which also did a Pathfinder setting (as part of their Golarion world) that was also very 'fantastical' like TSR's effort. I forget what they called their Asian-themed world.

Would you please kindly post a tutorial on how to actually play this RPG?

John SaberSlinger it uses a basic d20 system, modifiers are added or subtracted from your base number. If you then roll below that number, you are successful. Obviously, a roll above that number is a failure. 1117.0 COMBAT In general, using a Bugei in combat is the same as the use of any other Skill. A Basic Chance of Success is determined and then modified to generate an Adjusted BCS. 1D20 is rolled, and if the number rolled is less than or equal to the Adjusted BCS the attack is successful. Differences arise in the stricter control of the modifiers that affect the BCS and in the variety of results that can come with a successful attack due the number of different attack forms possible. BCS die rolls in combat also use special tables for determining the results of Critical Success and Failures. To make the combat rules more comprehensible, note the following definitions of terms: The attacker is the character attempting to make the BCS roll. The attack is the series of martial actions represented by the BCS roll. the target is the character who is the recipient of the attacker’s action. The most common form of attack is the Strike. Unless otherwise mentioned, this is the form of attack assumed in the rules. Some forms are resolved differently from the Strike. These differences will be mentioned in the description of the attack form and wherever necessary in the rules. If no difference is indicated, assume that the attack form is a Strike. The procedure to resolve an attack goes as follows: -determine the character’s Base BCS -determine the target’seffective Armor Class and subtract this from the Base BCS -determine all Situation Modifiers and add the total to the BCS -make any modifications due to weapon quality. The result is theadjusted BCS used to determine the successof the attack. If an attack is successful, the damage done to the target must be determined. Each weapon is rated for an amount of damage done. The appropriate die is rolled and the score is noted. This number is then modified for any bonuses or penalties due to the attacker’s Strength, the quality of the weapon, or the way i n which the weapon is used. Remember that some attack forms and the use of a weapon too heavy for the attacker can reduce the base damage die for the weapon.
