I find if you have to make a large batch of bombs and your worried about the mix drying out, ill just use a separate mold for each and pack a bunch of bombs then when im done ill remove the molds from each bomb, then you won't have to worry about ha ing any mix left over, ( thats assuming that you have a bunch of molds, lol I know not everyone has large quantities of the same size/ shape)

I too timed myself making bath bombs and I can make them faster than a press. I have yet to find a purple or blue mica that is approved for bath bombs.

I learned in a class that I needed to use polysorbate 20 or 80 when using micas to disperse them evenly in the bathbomb. What is your option this? Do you use corn starch instead? Thank you.
@adhd_alchemy
@adhd_alchemy 2 жыл бұрын
Hey! I'm a cosmetic formulator but new to making all of the soapy and bubbly things. It's so fun! So, your polysorbate actually helps to solubilize the oil in the bath water. That in turn eliminates the mica ring from around the tub. That's how mica and polysorbates are related in bath bombs.
@MrsSoapAndClay
@MrsSoapAndClay 2 жыл бұрын
Is it really? I’ve never heard that, and it’s still in foods and vaccines! As an alternative, I have had good success with other non ionic surfactants and oil to water emulsifiers as well, or a combination of both. That said, if poly is banned, then the rest may be as well.

I use to use Mica colorants,but now I use Lakes,.I still paint with mica,but the color in the tub is prettier then what mica does,that's when I decided to use Lakes. Color my world.

Love the video, as usual! When you say ‘cut with cornstarch’, how much cornstarch goes in? Does this help the mica to not sit on top of the water?
@MrsSoapAndClay

Hey! Humidity is not a friend to bath bombs. Wrap them as soon as possible, store them in cool dry places, and consider investing in a dehumidifier. I got one for $50 on Amazon that has been a game changer.

I find when I personally use epsome salts in my bath bombs they get to looking like they have warts, lol! So, I changed to using slsa in my bombs and a bit of clay as well. They are super hard and smooth. I just can't understand why I get the warts to begin with, it is only when I use Epsom salt? Can you briefly explain? Of coarse you may not know if it never has happened to you. Any guidance would be appreciated, as I love to use epsom salt. I make bath salts now to compensate for my failure with bombs, lol! I horseback/trail ride, so get stiff and sore on occasion too. Getting older, lol! Thank you Jill Gross

Are your bath bombs suitable for kids with the epsom salt included?
@MrsSoapAndClay
@MrsSoapAndClay 4 жыл бұрын
I mean, the medical field has officially weighed in on Epsom salts and said that they are safe for kiddos, assuming they aren’t drinking the water. As parents, we all make decisions as to what we expose our kids to, so that’s definitely something to consider when looking at epsom salt bombs. :)

Why are you using the most expensive way to color your bath bombs? You have to use way too much mica. Why not use colorants specifically made for soaps?
@MrsSoapAndClay
@MrsSoapAndClay 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not using way too much of anything; as I state in the video, my bath bomb micas are cut with corn starch. Also, these are colorants made specifically for soap - but these are bath bombs. Which makes them not soap but cosmetics. I have several videos that can help you figure out the difference.
