The fisheries guy's should carry flare kits and sell them to fishermen when they're in remote locations. Do this instead of fining people, now they're compliant. You could get a fine every day if they wanted to follow you around.
@TrueNorthAdventures2 күн бұрын
Yeh not a bad idea. Be better than a fine and then leaving you with flares that “don’t work” 🤷♂️

Flares last 20 years, what a cop-out. Easy to throw fines about when there's no skin in the game and the people supply everything. Nothing worse than a gubberment stooge who hands out fines that has zero efrect on safety. Legalised theft and karma gets those narcissistic parasites eventually

Dance of the sugar plum fairy so good 😂, was not expecting Tchaikovsky in a TNA episode, 10 points to the Ed. That groper was quick!

Top notch video again boys. The production gets better and better as you go along, and I can't wait to see the next few episodes! Have to say im jealous, a trip my grandfather and i always wanted to do in our reef boat was to go from weipa to the torres strait and back and you guys are pretty much doing the opposite! Unfortunately he is about to sell our reef boat as he is becoming too old to do big trips anymore, so i want to get up there one day and do it in his honour. Good old fisheries are always around hey! Especially up the cape, ive had more encounters with them there than i do here at home in Tully. They've always been pretty decent fellas though. Sucks about the fine - i nearly got done for that a few weeks ago, thankfully my Fiancee reminded me to get new ones 😂

Cheers mate!! Yeh we’ve been wanting to do it for years and it was bloody amazing! Fisheries were good to deal with. The fine sucks but they’re just going their job. Otherwise they were really helpful showing us the way in the mouth and giving us a few local tips 👍

So don’t usually put my 2 cents worth in but love your work. Hard to tell on my little iPhone but what you thought a tomato cod look to me like a coral cod but didn’t know you could get them that small..! 😂

We have big grouper in the U.S called Goliath grouper. I’ve got 2 to the boat that would go 250lbs. Fun fish but one hell of a fight.

They sound like a beast of a fish! The Queensland grouper are an awesome fish but are a no take species here so you cannot fish for them.

Top episode yet again, keep up the good work. Did you actually need to have flares so close to shore?
@TrueNorthAdventures3 күн бұрын
Cheers mate! Pretty sure you have to carry flares on all registered boats in QLD… best to check with maritime safety to be sure though.
@BundyToo3 күн бұрын
@@TrueNorthAdventures I just checked and they say not needed in smooth waters, being rivers etc and within 1/2 a nautical mile of shore. There maybe something that says if you are equiped for outside of smooth waters (as you guys are) and do carry flares they must be within date. Would have been a been a good point to bring up at the time, posably gaining some leniency but too late now.

It appears that issuing the infringement/fine is more important than rectifying safety equipment.
@TrueNorthAdventuresКүн бұрын
Wouldn’t be a bad idea if they carried flares that you received along with the fine. Can’t see that ever happening though 🤷♂️

When travelling remote this safety equipment sort of stuff is particularly important. Good to see they actually fined you as warnings usually don't have much effect. Onboard my vessel is a few rocket flares and distillation kits which aren't required for that vessel size but are far more visible and the ability to make water out of Seawater may save your life one day too. . Good content though and I respect this being included. Despite being shit fishos the episodes are worth a geez. Well done.....I'd recommend trying some of the old dog lures made over there in QLD. Designed by Dave killalea the previous owner of killalure.. He has sold the okd dog lure company now too though . Old flares are good to get big bonfires going too but I still keep a few onboard as I've seen 10 year out of date ones work fine when stored properly
