Fucking great footage this. Incredible atmosphere and some proper tackles flying about, really captures what the Old Firm games were like back in the day. Cooper`s goal was sheer class, the first touch out of his feet and bang. Fucking get in.

Brilliant upload mate, so how in the space of 31 years can players like this get on with the game even if there is hard but mostly fair challenges without the need to roll about or get stretchered off and just act like true men, now compared to most of today's players who will be down on the pitch at the slightest touch? Because of the amount of foreign players that have come into our game over the last while so its became acceptable, its a game for Fucking fairies now thats ruining it more each decade that passes by.

Did you upload this via the 1984Wifi when you got home?This is so rare this footage. We are getting trip back to a time when the atmosphere was deafening! Now it's mostly tame at ibrox. At 07:40 we see when the whole of Ibrox was literally jumping and singing together. We can even see the east enclosure rippling with bears. Fantastic thanks for sharing this!

I was at this game. I'm a Celtic fan and it was my first Celtic - Rangers game. I was 15. I'd travelled up from London on the train in the morning and don't remember much about the game apart from the noise. I do remember that I didn't know how to get to Ibrox so I got on the Underground with my scarf tucked down my trousers. That's an experience to tell my grandchildren.
@bobmorrice13 жыл бұрын
@MrStruth great video, the players didn't fuck about it back then. you can even tell the difference of the atmosphere compared to the " in the crowd" mobile phone videos you get after almost every single game these days mind you, it must have taking some doing smuggling an 80s camcorder into the ground, you could break your back carrying one of those things about.

Outstanding footage - wasn't even born when this game was played, but wish I was old enough to experience games like this Rangers v Celtc at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, no live tv (or in this case, any TV at all) stadium bouncing, no-one batting an eye-lid over what can and can't be sung or said a proper game of football and a Rangers win to boot :) what else could you want?

I was at this game. That season was a nightmare but this was one of the highlights. I can actually remember being a bit disappointed with the score as it should have been more than 3! The next 2 games at Ibrox were 4-4 and 3-2. No shortage of goals! This really does give an idea of what it's like to be at an Old Firm game from a fan's perspective.

This great vid shows up what we have lost. Passionate, standing crowds with the action on the park matching that passion. Tough tackling, no rolling around, no crying to the ref, no flashing advertising hoardings, no fans holding their mobile phones. Check out the ferocity of the tackling. Ibrox looked better and more intimidating with the old stand and terracing and without the corners filled in, in this Celtic fan's opinion.. Celtic fans only in the terracing that day, it would seem. Great win by Rangers against very strong Celtic team. Great footage, despite the result.
@MrStruth5 жыл бұрын
The fact that fans could sing what they wanted and there was far less focus on the crowd and than today probably had much to do with it. I agree with your point on the tackling. Both teams getting steamed right into each other. Flying tackles all over the park yet very few cries for the Referee to get his cards out. The good old days 😁
@vincentmcnabb9395 жыл бұрын
@@MrStruth Good old days, indeed. I think it also made a big difference that both teams were full of fans of either side. I enjoy watching your videos - even if obviously from a Rangers' perspective - sure brings back the memories. Yes, football could do with less focus on fans' chants and more lenience from the referees. I have no problem with the singing of the Billy Boys et al...it's part of the tradition and magic of the fixture...it's meant to be a bitter and fierce rivalry and not a love-in. There can still be mutual respect, often begrudging, between both teams and supporters as there most certainly was then.

1985 Bridgeton Billy boys sung from start to finish Fast forward 2024. Not 'allowed' to sing that ( because celtic supporters complained) - and we just shut up and followed 'orders' You couldn't make it up.
