Watched every single minute of this video. Don't understand my addiction to watching other people work on cars, but I keep feeding it, lol. Thanks for mixing it up with another marque. Cheers, Mr. S. P.S. I had my car's crankshaft position sensor connector somehow work itself loose last night. The car would intermittently jerk and misfire badly after a few hard pulls, but only while driving leisurely. Go figure. Would die promptly thereafter, and exhibit an extremely hard start. No check engine light. Did it again this morning and left me stranded by the side of the highway. Thank goodness I had my laptop and Tactrix adapter with me. Found the code P0335 stored. Took off the alternator cover and stuck my hand down below the (still burning hot) alternator. I literally slid off the connector with one finger. Very odd. Cleaned out the contacts on both connector and sensor with cleaner, reconnected the two firmly (no satisfying click, boo!), and yanked at the connection to ensure a snug fit. Reconnected the negative battery terminal I had disconnected earlier and she fired up right away! I was ecstatic. I was sure I would have to replace the actual sensor itself. The point of this long-winded story is that watching your videos has given me the confidence to troubleshoot and work on my own money-pit (modified genuine JDM Forester STi). Thank you, Mr. S!

@@brymstar333 here’s some helpful knowledge- service a Nissan/Jatco CVT every 30k with ONLY the genuine OE fluid. Use a scan tool to reset the fluid deterioration calc in the TCM when you service it. Don’t buy one without a VERY detailed trans fluid service history or without the $$$ to replace the CVT sitting in the center console.

@Cole B these transmissions are so easy to break its ridiculous. The fluid is insanely expensive. And the dang company does not do warranty fixes on anything anymore. Yes great vehicle!

My father has been working on Nissans most of his life and told me this model of maxima and then the older 2000s with the butterfly looking taillights were very reliable as long as you do regular maintenance. But he’s told me he’s had several customers with over 250k with just regular maintenance the biggest ones were use good oil(this usually kept the seals on the valve covers like this video mentions from failing) and service the trans with a drain and fill about every 30k or sooner if you’d like and change the trans filter every other drain and fill.

On my 2006 Forester SG the trunk lid rattles on bad quality roads, and we have a lot of those. Figured out that the lid has a small left-right movement and the Liftgate Lock Striker Plate hits the actuator, and that makes the noise. How can I fix it? The Liftgate Bump Stop seems to be in decent shape, but I also tried to lift them with 3mm to push the lid harder, but it didn't solved the problem. Not sure if it will fix the rattling if I change them.

Great video, one of the most informative step by step I've seen. sadly - I found it by searching "oil on coil and plug Nissan maxima" which means I already tried tackling the shaking engine misfire issue (thinking it's just a bad coil) and found the oily coil and went ahead and took out the plug to find it was also oily. after spraying some carburetor cleaner, installing a new plug and a new coil and putting everything back together I started the engine for about five seconds. turned it off quickly because of the smell. so considering I inserted oil and carburetor cleaner into the cylinder - what is the damage I'm looking at and what should I do now?

I wonder if Nissan finally changed their crappy accessory belt drive system my model didn’t have a self adjusting tensioner it was a weird ass tensioner that you had to set it had a warm gear drive on it that you would have to first loosen the bolt on the pulley itself and then you could drive up or down For a preset tension it was a shitty set up and the first time I change the belt on that car I didn’t realize you had to loosen the pulley bolt first and stretched the worm gear drive and broken it lol!

Mr Subaru. My 2010 Subaru Outback 6 speed has been acting weird lately. Sometimes I have trouble getting into second gear. As if there was a physical barrier preventing me from getting into second gear. I hear no grinding nor feel like it would want to perhaps enter second gear. It does so every now and then and when it doesnt, getting into second gear is as easy as can be. Also, whenever I am in town and have to shift more often and can actually hear, I hear a clunking noise whenever I get into neutral to get into the next desired gear. Is my transmission going bad or something that has to do with the clutch? I changed my transmission fluid 3000 miles ago and the fluid had nothing of concern in it other then being old. Thanks for your help.
@IronFishChannel3 жыл бұрын
Just my two cents, but my 04 Subaru lost some teeth on 2nd gear and started making a grinding noise whenever I was in gear, ended up needing the transmission taken apart and put back together with a new 2nd gear. Might be something similar but I don't know. Good luck.
