And they baptize their kids in a creek with a giant croc monster in it. Bo Katan must have seemed like a freaken genius to them. Helps explain why Din behaved like Mando Mr Bean for the first 2 seasons and the Armourer was so keen to hand off the leadership.

It was hilarious. That it took the bird days to even deliver the kids, and the Mandalorians gave up so easily so those kids kept suffering, made it even more so. And then at the end Mando delivers three gigantic bird babies to the already struggling exiled. You know the Armorer was thinking "What am I supposed to do with these?" They ate them, I reckon. We never see them again.

I find it hilarious that Moff Gideon saw that Mando was loose in his base, went off to presumably kill him, and then just… let him go to his clone room and kill all his clones? Like he has a tracker on Mando, he KNOWS where he is at all times, but he just lets him get to the clone room. Then when he finally gets up to Mando he starts sobbing about his “perfect clones dying before they can draw their first breaths” but surely he could’ve just stopped him much earlier.

@@Szokynyovics Crazy part is that merchandise based on Star Wars from 40 years ago still sells. They don't need to bring Grogu back to keep selling merchandise; people already love that character. They could fill that slot with a new character that expands the merchandise they could sell: new Mandolarian partner, new alien foundling to fill the whole in his heart, or even new Jedi recruits that become Grogu's classmates. If anything, this season will turn people off Grogu for being used like the Porgs in The Last Jedi. They are both creatively bankrupt and bad at marketing.

I think you're right. There's nothing wrong with having a masked character who is just voice acted, but the show needs to be written around that better than it was in S3. It really, really felt like the Armorer was gonna sell out Bo Katan and her forces saying "they're not real Mandalorians, we've survived our own way, we don't need them knocking at our door, might as well sell them out to Gideon" which leads to Dinn being like "no they're alright actually these weird rules just divide us, that's it I'm not wearing the helmet". This is more speculation on my part for sure, but even earlier elements could have been drawn on better than they were in my opinion, like it's weird to me that the Children of the Watch who are fundamentalists with these strict rules, don't care about the darksaber? One of them is literally a descendent of its creator, and that fact matters for one episode in a different show and never comes up again. To me it feels like the show was building to a storyline where the Children of the Watch want to keep the darksaber for themselves, continue to hide away, venerating these old symbols of their culture, whilst Bo Katan is actively trying to reunite her people and retake the planet. That more naturally leads into Dinn needing to take a side, and then choosing hope and unity and gives the Darksaber without a fight to show that they're kinda past those rules that only hurt each other, or maybe Bo Katan though her experience as a warrior and leader out in the universe is actually able to beat Dinn in a fight for the Darksaber, whilst Paz Vizsla failed because he spent his life hiding away, showing that evolving makes you stronger. Maybe they would have even waited the whole season before Dinn reunites with Grogu, only convincing Grogu to return by showing his face again after Dinn realises that it's more important to not let dumb rules keep you from your loved ones.

My theory since end of season one has been that Mandalorian is a launching pad for Dave Filioni live action shows. It doesn't feel like there is an end objective because there isn't one. It's introductions and world building only. I think it's fun, but I also don't hold it to the same standard as Andor, which has an end objective (Rogue One).
@MrTevens
@MrTevens Жыл бұрын
It's the benefit and curse of a completely new character. One thing that keeps my hopes high for Andor is that we all know the ending, the writers don't have to figure that out, they just got to get Andor to Rogue One. I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea to use Mando as a sort of setup show but it does kind of make it weaker. In a way he's better as a bounty hunter, where he just shows up in other shows as a guy to get you out of a bad situation.
@Philipp3022
@Philipp3022 Жыл бұрын
I think that was also the success aspect of the first two seasons. We had no "galaxy-affecting" stakes. We just had a new badass bounty hunter and his kid doing missions and going on adventures in the lawless post-ROTJ outer-rim. A classic SW western story.

Filoni has done more damage to Star Wars than any Rian Johnson type creator will ever do. Everything has to revolve his OCs to the detriment of the quality of other Star Wars content. Mando’s intrigue and originality got cucked by becoming an introduction vehicle for Ashoka and company to the general audiences.
@SWProductions100
@SWProductions100 Жыл бұрын
@Bongo Kongo As someone not keeping up - but I did watch The Clone Wars - it does seem like Filoni might be relying a bit too much on characters popular in *other* shows. Fun video as always! Also here's a neat bit of trivia regarding Coruscant/Imperial City. In the scripts for ANH, it was just called Imperial City. In RotJ, it was going to be called Had Abadon, and the last third of the movie would have been set there instead of Endor. But this idea ended up being scrapped as Lucas felt it would be too implausible for the characters to be right in the heart of the empire. The name Coruscant actually came from Timothy Zahn in his book Heir to the Empire, that kickstarted the EU in 1991.

I never had a problem with that. Bo is not a part of their sect. Originally, its for the sect to accept her, then once she has saved a child of theirs, and with Bo seeing the Mythosaur, the Armourer wants to unite the groups and sees a moment to do so. There were problems, but I thought that was explained well. If Din wants to join the other Mandalorians, they were willing to accept him too. But he doesnt want to, he wants to be a part of his sect.

This season is a mishmash collection of side quests, tangentially related stories strung together by the thinnest plot contrivances culminating in a rushed reveal and resolution in the last 2 episodes. Mando is a side character in his own show, everyone else lacked clear initiative or motivation, powers and abilities are inconsistent and changes based on what the story needs at that very second, for most of the season there was no tension because there was nothing at stake. The sad thing is there's so much opportunity for great character interaction and storytelling. For example Bo Katan and The Armourer are the leaders of 2 factions that have widely different idea of what it manes to be Mandalorian, that's a gold mine of conflicting philosophy, motivation and action, and yet you can fit all their dialogue on a napkin. They just... agreed and joined forces super easy barely an inconvenience. If you compare this season with S1E1, it's almost like a different show about a different character. If this is the vision they have for The Mandalorian going forward, I don't think I will bother continue watching.

Still annoys me that at the end of season 2 it seems like he'd learned he didn't need to wear his helmet, like by that point he'd taken it off three times, the third time for no other reason than for Grogu to be able to see his face, like how Luke had removed Vader's helmet so they could see each other. And he'd met Boba Fett and Bo Katan and neither of them wore their helmets despite being Mandalorians. Like, I don't really know what wearing a helmet represented thematically, I think that one episode in season 1 implied it was about his inability to settle down and hang up his blasters, but come on, that's basically what he did at the end of season 3 but apparently keeping the helmet on is now super important again.

Thematically it signifies his loyalty to The Death Watch and The Way as he has always known that. Voluntarily taking off his helmet signifies his new loyalty to his adopted son - once to save Grogu and the other time to say goodbye. This divided loyalty and exposure to the wider Mandalorian culture character progression should have been the focus of season 3 as he has to decide between following Bo Katan to reclaim Mandalore or be redeemed and re-join The Death Watch. Having Grogu return in season 3 and have him redeem himself within 2 episodes completely undercut that narrative. Wasted storytelling opportunity imo.

I think the thing that describes this season the best was the random dinosaur that appeared on Mandalore and destroyed their land boat and was then never seen again. I actually enjoyed this season a lot. The overall goal of retaking Mandalor and uniting the different tribes was very cool. Bo Katan learns how to become a leader and becomes worthy of ruling Mandalor and the other Mandalorians. She definetly steals the show because of that. Grogu is growing up and becomes a lot more useful as a part of the show, which is very welcome. Also the scene at the end where Din Jarren adopts Grogu made me cry. The Mandalorian is the king of shows for wasting your time. With only 8 episodes some only being 30 minutes you'd think the plot would be concise and focused. It's looking cheaper than before.

I think even though it had 2 years it was limited by other shows also using the volume, kenobi and BoBF.
