The part in the Watchmen director’s cut that made me love that version even more than the original is the death of Hollis Mason - the original Nite Owl. Spider-Man 3 Editor’s Cut!! It reshuffles some scenes around and adds in some new ones. The first important one changes the “butler reveal” at the end of the movie. Instead of being sloppily told what happened to his dad, Harry looks at a graduation photo of himself, Peter, & MJ and cries. Another scene entirely changes the symbiote’s function in the story. It makes it seem like Peter is an addict suffering from withdrawal without the suit, and he’s freaking out a little bit in his apartment. He finally goes to the black suit and smiles eerily at it; you can faintly hear the symbiote make a noise to him, too. Cool stuff

I'd love more in depth dedicated caravans of garbage just on different cuts but I imagine I'd be one of the few and it's kinda redundant if you've already done the that movie and you covered so many in this video. Anyway, Keep it up chaps. Love your work!

Is the Logan Noir version a sort of director’s cut? Because it looks more artsy for some reason
@superhans9764 жыл бұрын
because its black & white lol. Its the exact same movie. Mangold got to make the movie he always wanted to make so there was no need for an extended DC.

A lot of time the studio is the one demanding cuts and other dumb shit to be taken out, so i say absolutely. I'd rather see what it was meant to be shown as instead of an edited down version.

I can't sing the extended cuts praises of Incredible Hulk enough. Marvel/Universal butchered the original cut by omitting most of the Bruce Banner character elements. 😠

There's an extended cut?
@maggot2164 жыл бұрын
@@RetroIsaac Only fan edits. All the deleted scenes from the Blu-ray spliced into the film make it pure bliss. It's impossible to find anymore, but Tomahawk Extended Edition is the closest thing to Norton's vision. Adding a whopping 30+ minutes of character development places it in Winter Soldier calibur territory. Just my opinion though.

Directors cuts are usually bloated and have vastly inferior pacing to the theatrical release. There are exceptions, but normally scenes are dropped for a reason.

The home release version of Clue with all of the alternate endings stitched together is technically an extended cut and greatly improves the final act (acts?). I think that's one of the reasons it's regarded as a cult classic today.
@HM-wn2in4 жыл бұрын
I know it's unrelated to the video. But I hope that DC have a clear path and I don't care if one movie is "dark" and another one is hopeful and we get 2-3 movies a year. Ben Affleck is my favourite batman and Bruce Wayne and I hope he returns and makes the deathstroke movie he intended to make. And what the fuck is happening with the flash movie. My boy Ezra is too busy choke slamming.

I think the Flash movie is finally coming along, it's gonna be directed by Andy Muschietti. Also, rumours of Cyborg being in the movie is circulating again.

I've found that the Extended Hobbit films communicate the intentions of expanding the story better than the theatrical cuts. The main difference is an entire subplot with the rings of power that got completely cut, along with more foreboding of Thorin's descent into madness and lots of nice character moments. Lots of fleshing out of the world which puts the Lord of the Rings into more context for non-book fans like me. Plus, I don't get the comparisons to the Star Wars prequels. Disappointment is a subjective thing of course but if we're just talking movie making craft and acting . . . I don't get it.

When they are actual Directors cut they are usually better, however sometimes a directors cut is just an alternative cut called that for marketing purposes (Alien for example in which Ridley Scott stated that the theatrical cut is his true director's cut).

Sucker Punch is worth a watch, honestly I wasn't into it at all in theaters but was much more able to get into the plot on second viewing. It's definitely better visually than plot wise, for sure, but the movie works pretty well if you follow it from start to finish. The conceit of hallucinations/day dreams allows Zack to put literally whatever he wants on screen and that allows for some stunning visuals, but the plot holds it together pretty well. Sure it's no Watchmen, which I personally think will rank up high with the best CBMs over time and probably even transcend the genre for some. But it's still pretty good!

LOVE lotr. Love the extended cuts even more, even though the theatrical cuts were (nearly) perfect. I highly agree that all the lotr special features are amazing, if you love the movies--same with the commentaries. You can really feel all the effort, love, & (hehe) fellowship of the cast & crew. The Hobbit, though? I don't want MORE Hobbit... There were two movies too many as it bloody was! During the final filmed scenes, the wrap party, the end of production of lotr, you could really feel the emotion behind the end of that 10yr journey. Everyone was crying, hugging; the love showed so clearly in the final product. The Hobbit, though? Nothing but a frustrating rush-job. Seeing Ian McKellen's heart break at how soulless the production was isn't something I care to see more of... As the only returning actor with more than an extended cameo aside from Orlando Bloom, he must have had such high hopes for Jackson & expected a similar united passion project. He loved the effort behind the practical effects in the hobbit houses & action, & broke down filming the Shire party scenes where all the height differences would be done in CGI without most of the actors even filming with him. We all know it's not entirely Jackson's fault; he never wanted to do the Hobbit, but after Del Toro had to drop out, I guess he felt obligated & almost instantly regretted it under the studio bullshit/crunch. What a waste.

The directors cut is worse then the theatrical cut though.
@GeriatricFan19634 жыл бұрын
@@Vandreren83 Theatrical cut leaves more up to interpretation, director's cut adds the philosophy of time travel book excerpts so that Donnie's actions make a bit more sense with that context...But then again, a major theme of the film is whether or not Donnie is losing his grip on reality and going insane, so having that confirm early on that Donnie is fine and it's just the world he's in that's fucked up kind of spoils that in my opinion. I think the director's cut is a more accessible film, but not necessarily a better one.

When introducing a friend to a film, in almost all cases watch the theatrical cut. Extended cuts often have pacing issues for a first time viewer. LotR in particular is a trilogy I've seen people get bored and switched off by because someone insisted "the only way" to watch them was the extended version.

I swear by the Lord of the Rings extended cuts, and I think they are necessary for the Hobbit movies as well, especially the third one; I did not like the theatrical version of that movie at all, but the extended cut fixed a lot of the issues I had with it. Same with the extended cut of Batman V Superman. Still not a perfect movie by any stretch of the imagination, but much improved upon what we saw in the theater.

I love the chip scene in the extended version of T2 simply for the technical marvel that it is.....the set up where they are shooting in the bathroom so have a big mirror, yet that isn’t a mirror it’s another actor/prosthetic and Linda’s twin sister, playing the part of the T-800 and Sarah Corners’ reflections! Amazingly simple to achieve if your fortunate enough to have a lead actor with an identical twin sibling!

True Director's cuts are always better. Not when it's a cash grab like they used to do back in the mid 2000s with DVDs or you had the unrated version of so many movies that released on home video that just added 5 minutes or something like that to peak your interest and boost home video sales.
