To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Weekly Planet jokes. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of cinematic and comic book history most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also James' nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his pop can opening - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike the Weekly Planet truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Mason's expert impersonation of Tom Holland, which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as the Weekly Planet's genius unfolds itself on their screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a tattoo of James and Maso. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

Madame Web had such weird marketing. Like obviously Dakota Johnson was the lead, but Sydney Sweeney did all the press promotional stuff? Actually saw some of the press stuff before seeing a trailer and genuinely had no idea Dakota Johnson was in it, just assumed Sydney Sweeney was the lead.
@alfje54923 күн бұрын
Allegedly it was sold as an MCU movie to Dakota, so that's why she barely did anything in and around the movie.

Really disappointed that people didn't go and see The Fall Guy - I don't know if they just didn't market it enough but we need more films like that, it was a lot of fun. The second fun action comedy Ryan Gosling has starred in that has done disappointingly, after the excellent The Nice Guys

The Nice Guys is the best original movie of the last decade

Fall Guy suffered from the same problem the latest Mission Impossible movie did, which is that they marketed based on the stunts but then most of the stunts had too much CGI to look right. When stunts look like they have minimal CGI (Mad Max Fury Road for example or the Mission Impossible with the Burj Khalifa) then people get excited. But when the stuff looks like filmed in a green screen it doesn't matter that they did it for real. Mission Impossible did it worse when they show the motorcycle trick was made on a ramp somewhere and the whole mountain was fake.

@@thevikingbear2343 yeah for sure - I almost didn't watch The Fall Guy at all, but a friend dragged me along - awful marketing

Saw Fall Guy and Furiosa on a flight, really enjoyed both. Didn't really feel like they were marketed much, I saw ads for other movies I hard passed on in theaters but I could have been persuaded to see those 2 in theaters if I'd seen it more in my line of sight
