4:06 I’m sure someone else has already commented on this but the cat thing has 2 possible reasons for springing up. First the Egyptian Mau is the oldest breed of domestic cat in the world, so there maybe a relationship to that. The more likely answer is that cats killed many of the pests like mice and other rodents that can destroy crops. Personally I think it’s a little bit of both.

The Italio-Turkish War(1911-1912) was the first time bombs were dropped from an airplane. Technically they were large grenades with screw-in fuses. The Ottoman Empire took Italy to court in Geneva claiming that Italy had violated the treaty that banned bombardment using aircraft. Italy stated that the treaty only banned bombardment from lighter-than-aircraft, because airplanes were heavier-than-air, they were not covered under the treaty. It was ruled that Italy technically violated the spirit of the law but not the letter of the law and absolved the Italian government of any war crimes. It laid the groundwork for the use of bombers in future wars.

I would honestly say that the Tank is also a very extensive contribution to war. Foot soldiers now had to deal with these massive behemoths on the field that were very good at getting rid of soldiers. I love that the german response was just: "Let's build a Mauser 98, but bigger", resulting in the Tankgewehr (Germans called them Tanks at the time).

My favorite teacher of all time, and one that led me into a lifelong love of learning history, was a female. 8th Grade Mrs. Everett. Every now and then, I'll bump into her at my local publix, And so ask me what I am learning about now. I'm forever grateful grateful to her for being such an amazing teacher and sending me down a history loving passion.

One of the wacky Polish tactic during the Polish-Soviet war was when Poles found out the encryptions Soviets used and I don't know if it was our humour or if it was an idea of the moment, that we'd transmit on those channels contents of Bible. We did it in the crucial moments of Battle of Warsaw, adding another brick for our successful counteroffensive. However one of the most horrifying tactic I know (albeit kinda strange) was a frag grenade in a glass intended as a booby trap, either an invention of Soviet intervention in Afghanistan or Yugoslav wars (I'm more inclined to the latter version). It was meant to be put on top of slightly opened door or tied to something, so that when opened the glass would be pulled with the pin-pulled grenade, shatter on the ground and explode. "HUH, the fuse is several seconds, they'd have time to escape". Well, here's the "fun" part: frag grenade fuse (3-4s) when possible was switched for smoke grenade fuse (instant).

For your second point, i have heard of that before, from what i know they were called "afghan tulips", but when i search for it now i only really find the black tulip, which is something completely different. A cargo aircraft that became known during the ussr-afghanistan war.

Thank you. One minor point you should’ve added about the Nile river is that the current and the wind flow in different directions. The current flows north and the wind blows south which really turns the Nile into a highway. In addition after the flooding there’s a lot of fish around. Egyptians both built fishpond for them to get into and they had a whole industry of drying fish

RE female viewers /Appalachian Mountains - the Battle of Blair Mountain was introduced to me by a woman. The use of McIntyre Powder on miners was introduced to me by an MP linking to a page by a woman. The use of agent orange on students on a summer job in Northern Ontario (directing planes, purpose clearing brush on side of highways and railway tracks was introduced by the same MP. It was not all just CFB Gagetown/CIA or Vietnam. Women tend towards Indigenous, black and LGBTQ history since intersectional feminism is big right now. They see the enemy as capitalism, colonialism and patriarchy, in no particular order, and much of history you cover is about at least two of the three. I am watching the present video with the POV that history is repetitive since successful strategies get reused - and a history of strategy appeals to me. Egyptian history

Very proud to say that my mother is a history teacher. She is a professor at our local college. One of my favorite history teachers in high school was a woman. One of my favorite professors of history in college was also a woman. It's sadly correct, though that there are far too few women history teachers. Though I had many male teachers who were very influential as well, all of the above-stated women were very influential in fueling a love of history that I have today.

That's anecdotal, of course, but at least most of my history teachers were women 😅I also preferred their teaching style. I had a male history teacher for a year in high school, and while he was very nice, and eager to tell us interesting stories, I don't think I learnt all that much during his lessons. Probably because he would mostly talk rather than pull out presentations, maps or use the textbook

Lies Mr Terry! WW1 planes def started bombing, although for a short period of time towards the end of the war and not accurately. They began by just flying over enemy positions and dropping grenades, but by the end of the war the first large-ish attached bombs with release mechanics and 2nd seat spotters with a downward scope were created. Again, not super accurate but still bombers.

Social norms, feedback loop of male history content creators, historically a male interest of study due to things like representation. Biased Algorithms. I enjoy history. I enjoy hearing about women in history. Part of your problem is the erasure of women in so much of what we consider "history." You have fifty percent of the population who were prohibited or impeded from taking part in war, national leadership roles, scholarship etc ... And even when women fought to be included, their contributions were attributed to men or overlooked altogether. I watch fashion HISTORY videos. I watch cooking HISTORY videos. I watch these because they reflect the real lives of women in history, these are areas where we still have some record of their contributions. Bet you KZbin considers these to be cooking and fashion videos, rather than history videos, because history doesn't repeat itself but it definitely rhymes.
