This is so fun! It reminds me of something one would see in Hindu/Buddhist art. I think it would be gorgeous in oranges, golds and the purple!

Gorgeous great job. Im kinda intimidated to do my first tapestry. Did tie 2 up but then untied them cause the ties sucked. Now they are washed again to start over.
@MrTieDye Жыл бұрын
Thank you and at some point you just gotta do one and then from there you can tweak you process when you see how the first one comes out ... I tend to tweak my designs as I learn new things ... so the next one, just go for it ... fold, tie and then dye and batch it ... then you can change things up the next time around if you need to ✌🏻

@@MrTieDye i did 2 tapestries so far 1 sold with sone shirts the other is kinda ok but its too dark to see most the colors in it. Will definitely try again but this time some actual design other than scrunches. Thanks for all your teachings through your videos.

I was actually referring to the one in this video ive always seen people draw their lines on and line their sinew up with their marker lines
@MrTieDye2 жыл бұрын
this was a request years ago when I first started my channel ... so I just did the airplane folds and then drew my wavy line on and pleated it ... tying with just kite string allows for a looser tie than you get with sinew and that is what I wanted .... is there a part of this video that I could explain better for you?? I apologize, I still do not think I understand what you are asking

My fabric never looks like yours when I'm folding them!! I guess you've been doing it for a while! How long does your soda ash mixture last in the spray bottle?
@MrTieDye4 жыл бұрын
yeah it just takes practice and I have many years of it... just keep at it ... as for the soda ash... I am not sure it ever goes bad... I just keep adding more to the same bottle as I use it

thank you ..... I started with an already dyed shirt and then tied the ronstar on it and then dyed it black... so the colors you see are from the previous dyeing, but I cannot find a before pic .... here is how I do the ronstar .... kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYCygJKsj5ebZ5I

Thanks so much for your videos? Do you have any ideas for doing this pattern with ice dying? Would one just make sure to use complementary colors and lots of dye? Would this be a project where you might want to dye both sides since it's so thick? Thanks again!
@MrTieDye5 жыл бұрын
you are welcome and yeah I think this could be done as an ice dye, and dyeing all from one side will give one result... I would use lots of dye and ice to make sure it goes through all of the layers.... or you can use less of each and flip and dye for the bottom... I have not tried it myself, but I think both ways will work, but will give different results ..... ALSO, just so you know, I still consider myself a newbie when it comes to ice dyeing as I have made less than 20 items this way... I say go for it and try both ways.... at some point I may do a comparison video

@@MrTieDye it came out better than I expected! I ended up going with one side and lots of ice. Still need to work on the mandala in the center. It's tough to get precision there with ice dye. Thanks again for the tips! imgur.com/gallery/ICzijrh

Are you talking about the orange tapestry I showed in this video?? if so, then no I do not have a video for it, but like I said in the video, I did one less fold, which gave me fewer lines which then left space in between them ... if this is not what you meant, then please ask anohter question as replies do not show up for me in the same way as a new question does

I have bought fabric, sheets and tapestry blanks from various places..... the one in this video is a tapestry blank from Sunshine Joy company ....... www.sunshinejoy.com/Tapestries-Hippie-Wall-Hangings/blank-white-tapestries-prepared-for-dyeing they have many sizes, but it would seem they are out of stock on the tapestry size in this video ...... also, I will buy flat sheets from target when they go on sale, the full or queen size make a nice huge tapestry

MrTieDye awesome thank you so much ! I tried a table cloth but didn’t hold much of the black or purple
@MrTieDye6 жыл бұрын
you are welcome..... one thing I have noticed about table clothes.... some of them are 50/50 cotton/poly and the poly will not take dye.... and it shows up the most with the darker colors ..... so check that part out... 100% cotton is going to dye the best
