It's literal lore says that it's a sentient log that was possessed by a wicked spirit.) 9. Any of the Magnet Warriors (They're classified as Rock Types, but could've easily have been classified, if not mistaken for, as either Thunder Types or even Machine Types.) 8. Pyramid Turtle (While I understand why it's a Zombie Type, as its ability allows you to Special Summon any Zombie Type Monster with 2000 DEF or less, most Turtle-themed monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh are often associated with either the Reptile Types or Aqua Types. And since Pyramid Turtle is a creature of the sand, and has a giant pyramid on its back, it wouldn't make sense for it to be an Aqua Type.) 7. Dark Witch and Dunames Dark Witch (I might as well pick both of these monsters, as both of them have near identical names and both of the names have the word "Witch," of which most witches are often associated with the Spellcaster Type. But not these two, instead they are classified as Fairies.) 6. Winged Dragon Guardian of the Fortress #2, and too an extension Typone #1 (Both are Winged-Beast monsters instead of being Dragons.) 5. Crawling Dragon #2 (It's classified as a Dinosaur Type monster, but should've been a Dragon.) 4. Hungry Burger (A Warrior Type Monster that looks more Fiend. Hell, even its Ritual Card, the Hamburger Recipe, has a fiendish chef creating the monster.) 3. Any of Bakura's Occult Monsters, like Headless Knight, Gross Ghost of Fled Dreams, Portrait's Secret, Earthbound Spirit, Souls of the Forgotten and etc. (All of them are classified as Fiends, but they all have traits that could easily be mistaken for Zombies.) 2. Skull Knight (It's a Spellcaster, but could've easily have been either a Fiend-Type due to the two monsters needed to Fusion Summon this monster are Fiend-Types, (that being Ancient Brain and Tainted Wisdom,) a Zombie Type due to it's skeletal armor, or, a Warrior Type since knights are often associated with warriors. 1. A three-way tie between Oppressed People, People Running About, and United Resistance. (I still have no idea why those three cards are classified as monsters, and why they're Aqua, Pyro, and Thunder Type monsters respectfully.)

The most notable thing about the Reliable Guardian is that it's mentioned in Arsenal Summoner's effect as something that it can't search. Also, ironically, I forgot Witch's Apprentice existed, but not Fairywitch

26:50 -Ohh! Another multiple counterpart series! So Moon and Taiyu are counterparts as Sun and Moon but Eclipse and Solar Eclipse represent opposite in between of the two. Eclipse is a solar Eclipse with the Moon part forcing face up monsters down and the sun reappearing at the end to flip them back up. The luner Eclipse effect is a bit weird but also kind of makes sense since the sun IS involved but not any more present than in the regualr lunar appearence..in fact, less. The earth passes in front of rhe sun making the moon appear to disappear. Due to this, you discard a card as a cost to flip TWO monsters face down, simulating the Moon then its dissapearence with he discard and then its presence one more time. They were honestly well thought out.

I have quite a bit of fondness for Dark Nephthys honestly. Whenever I made DARK Attribute Decks in games, I often added that card, Rainbow Dark Dragon, and Dark Armed Dragon in those Decks. I also tend to recall seeing one or two Tag Force fanfictions including Dark Nephthys for one of the stories characters, in a deck that also had the OG Nephthys. Also, your story about "Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #2" is something I can relate to. I first saw it in an old card magazine I had (and still have on my bookshelf), but I never saw it on any shops or websites outside of Wikia, which always confused me. 😅

Honestly, I did love Supreme Ruin. In MD I played Drytron and decided not to run Heralds to not go too "degenerate" and Supreme Ruin's Destruction Protection can be nice for Draconids/Quadranids, and her typing actually matters. She's a LIGHT Fairy, so she can be searched off Benten being Tributed for Drytron cards, or can just be searched with Ritual searchers like the Herald Synchro or Manju. (Also you can get her double attacking effect by just summoning her with Meteonis Drytron via sending Draconids/Quadranids as cost from the hand). She probably isn't the most amazing Ritual out there, but she's fun to have. (Also, just a realization...her being LIGHT also means she can be summoned in Voiceless Voice with "Prayers of the Voiceless Voice," since it can Ritual summon any LIGHT Ritual. However probably isn't nearly as good as in Drytron or in home archetype since Lo can only pay full cost of a LIGHT Ritual if it's Warrior or Dragon type.)

I've tried Ruin in my VV deck, it can be useful as a one of. Being a fairy isn't an issue, you wouldn't use Lo for cost anyway. I usually ritual summoned Ruin using either Saffira, since VV has so many ways to get them into your hand or on the field. The real key is to pair Ruin with the VV trap. It is not hard to push Ruin into the tens of thousands, and with her attacking twice and burning, you probably have game right there.

What's cool, is you can see him traveling through these environments, and Dawn Knight is him at the end, after leaving the darkness in Armageddon. You can tell by how his hair grew out, his armour got damaged and he lost his shield in the darkness.

@@supersmashseandx1991 All of the level 7 reptiles with 2000 atk and 1500 def that when destroyed by battle destroys all monsters not of it's attribute (including any facedown monsters) and art wise are (mostly) real reptiles formed out of the (typical) element of that attribute. Like Radiant Spirit which is a Tortoise made of light.

You always bring joy! Also, that is NO teapot! I mean counterpart..that IS Happy Lover. If you check out the charmer monsters, you will see they start of with a existing weaker monster each but at the Familiar possessed state, they happen to evolve into a more powerful form as a result of the spell. You can see it as happy lover in the origional Lyna. The four origional attributes get these upgraded forms as their own card sans charmer ( ex: Inari Fire) and a card representing the in between state where the Familiar is breaking possesion to gain that evolved state of its own as "Awakening of the Possessed" (ex: Awakening of the Possesed-Greater Inari Fire.) Lyna and Dhark as just the only two Charmers who currently don't have a Awakening of the Possesed or resulting upgraded Familiar on its on card so we dont know what those forms would be called. They still are not truly counterparts since theya re just evolved forms, except in the case of Gigobyte. He is a special situation since there is clearly some kind of alternate reality thing going on with him. He already has a series of upgraded forms that resemble but are also clearly not the charmer version. With Eria he becomes Jigobyte/Gagagigobyte with electric theming. It IS possible he just loses this to become Gagagigo so perhaps they still are all upgraded/downgraded forms but it's also possible that those are counterparts to Gagagio and Giga Gagagigo.

Book of Taiyou being a normal spell is super beneficial to empty jar as you can set/activate if you ever draw doubles. If all of the book cards were quickplay with the text "you can activate this card the turn you set it" I do think that would be a lot more interesting, but as it stands, the only modern deck that uses it prefers it being a normal spell.

17:08 -Drowning mirror force can still be a pain on Duel links. I was just using a blue eyes deck last night that summons Neo Blue Eyes White Dragon using Greater Polymerization. Its multiple attack effect is already nice while dumping copies of itself or the original into the GY but Greater Poly further makes it pierce and protects it from destruction. I was ramming for game when the opponent pulled a Drowning Mirror Force and left me vulnerable. I killed his prior strategy but went first so I had already taken a hit once before getting the fusion out and now lost with his next turn but a lucky direct attack from a low level moster. Frustrating! Also, you forgot one! So the made all the attributes but that doesn't take away from the fact these are counterparts to each other! Shining Silverforce IS part of this series in the OCG so you could recognize it as the divine Attribute or the origional as divine. Either way, they are clearly counterparts as one focuses on battle damage, destorying all potential threats for that at the initial attack. SSF focuses on Effect damage from a trap and destorys all spells and traps when one goes off. Mirror Wall is not techniaclly part of the series and seems more an offshoot weaker recreation of mirror force. Why is this important? Well, you mentioned Mirage Mirror Force. Now there is a counterpart to that as well! Dark Magic Mirror Force!!!! One supports a Pegasus themed archtype and the other an Atem themed one. They have "mirrored" *cough* effects as well. Illusions activates on opponent's battle declaration while DM activates on the same or when an opponent's monster effect would destory another monster on field but ONLY when you have one of the archetypal monsters on field. Illusion allows you to special summon an illusion from hand or GY then bounce the attacking monster. DM just pulls a mirror force but does additional effect damage for each destoryed if you control a Dark Magician. Then it automatically provides one level of protection from battle or effect destruction for each card you control in the archtype but only for the rest of that turn. Illusion instead can only have its final effect activated on another turn. Instead of protecting current cards, it summons another from hand or GY when one leaves the field for any reason. It's clear these two are Pegasus/Atem counterpart support in the mirror force series for these new Illusion and Shining Sarcophogus archtypes. I also can't help but find it funny that Dark Magic Mirror Force is the one that supports SHINING Sarcophogus and has a mirror force effect but is suspecting to Shining Silver Force is its additional Dark Magician effect damage effect kicks off after. It is a mandatory effect after the mirror force one if you control a Dark Magician and since Shining Silver Force breaks the mold as the only counter trap jn the series, it can be activated in response. More evidence of it being the counterpart to the origional mirror force?

You might be able to return to Ruin and Demise in a future version of this list. Ruin is a counterpart of Demise. But both are *also* counterparts of the Chaos monsters. Ruin has half of the effect of Black Luster Soldier Envoy of the Beginning, and Demise has an effect that's about half the power of Chaos Emperor Dragon Envoy of the End, hitting only the field and not the hand. If you look at counterparts of the Chaos envoys, there's also another pair of monsters who fit the bill. The Sky Scourges. The first two (Dark and Light) Sky Scourges have similar summoning conditions to the Chaos Envoys, but with more monsters you need to banish, and more specific ones. They require Light Fairies and Dark Fiends, and each one requires 4 monsters as cost. Sky Scourge Enrise has the banishing half of BLS's effect, so if you take him and Ruin, you have the original BLS effect. Sky Scourge Norleras has the full version of Chaos Emperor Dragon's effect, but instead of dealing burn damage to the opponent, he draws you a card so you can get back into the duel first. Both are powerful, but that summoning condition makes them forgotten in comparison to the original Envoys.

21:04 -Happy Lover essentially also partnofba series of cards Tea had that were supposed to be cherubs. They all were small round ball faires representing a different kind of positive relationship. Happy Lover is supposed to be symbolic of a mutual romantic relationship. Tenderness is a potentially a sibling or familiar relationship and the big one is shining friendship that represents EVRYTHING TEA STANDS FOR IN AN OBSESSIVE MaNNER. lol They all have simialr artistic theming to go along with the conceptual one making them their own little not quite an archtype, series.

Another reason as to why Book of Lunar Eclipse sees no play in addition to the discard, is that it requires two targets. Not up to two. That means, if your opponent has only one Monster, you cannot activate Book of Lunar Eclipse.

Back in the schoolground days one of my friends had a super heavy samurai deck and the fun part of the deck was that all their monsters attacked in defense and had super high defense so my little me thought the best way to defeat that deck was to get my hands on dark mirror force

29:49 -It's so funny to me that you mention Ruin as a counterpart to demise and bring up BLS but forget that Ruin and Demise were themsleves both counterparts to BLS and CED. They were weakened ritual recreations of those two cards..but also not the obly ones. The Sky Scurage cards also serves this purpose with two being watered down recreations of the famous Chaos deck monsters. Konami tried so hard to recreate that magic in a less dangerous form before finally just errataing the hell out if BLS and bringing him back. Ruin and Armageddon seemmore in line with typical Yugioh as they represent generic apocalyptic endings. The Sky Scourge were werid as they also represented similar sentiments..but were embodiments of the costs of war specifically. They were depicted on an actual battlefield complete with wartime tactical gear on as well as barbed wire and decimated land in the backgrounds. If you lined them up, you even got a composite image. It was a bit vivid and real even for yuigoh. I mean..sure..they had weapons and war machines, especially in the OCG and nothing gruesome is depicted but the representation of hot warfare in trenches and using close combat traps like barbed wire is kind of intense. No wonder Konami kind of burries them. I would say they are remembered far less than Ruin and Armogeddon depsite comming first to serve the same purpose and having one more initial member added. And to add to that as proof..they made a fourth in 2021. I didn't even know that. Lol So apparently they are officially two sets of counterparts now with two one tribute earth monsters as support to the bigger ones and two two tributes counterparts to the Chaos monsters. The level two level 8s were of course the watered down counterparts of BLS and CED so it was odd they added a level 6 earth with a more supportive effect than anything else. Invilic is defensive by stopping either spells or traps but now Cidhels closes the loop. It is the set up to Invicil's protection. It searches out the bosses/ fodder card or sends them to graveyard. Both are earth attribute and can't be special summoned while the bosses are light and dark and can only be special summoned by banishing specific amounts of light fairy/dark fiend monsters. This means you need then in hand and copies of themslevs in graveyard and other monsters not of their series. Cidhel's effect is an engine to assist with this, getting them in the field and Invicil helping to keep them there. The interesting thing is now they have odd counterpart poses. Initially where was one facing left, one facing right and one facing foreward to create a combined image. The odd thing was the level 6 earth was not the middle one. This is sort of relieved now with the new level six being a middle facing so you ahve one level six showing its side, one level 8 facing the opposite, one level 8 facing front erect and the second level 6 facing front but squatting. It is also very possible the level 8 are supposed to be upgraded versions of the level 6. The level 6 are earth attribute, possibly representing human soldiers in conflict and the dark/light versions of themselves being their fully realized manifestations as war symbolism. Actual spirits of modern warfare. Another interpretation could be opposing sides of the war with lower and higher ranks on each side. A seargent ot geberal and a private under them for each faction but being of the same breed of being depaite seeming opposites of banner they wave. One is more light fairy and the other more dark fiend buy they both require at least a little of the other and ultimately both sides are just mirrors of each other. A good recognition that war is still going to be war if true. Very cool concepts with interesting Art that has been more common recently but was not at all the standard at the time for Yugioh and a bit of history since they were created to replace the recently banned Envoys. Too bad they sucked so hard and even with the new one have no real place in the game. They just have little helpful synergy with required existing cards and too weak if effects even at the time for their cost. They would need a full archtype of their own to pull things off, with upgraded boss forms..Basically what Ruin and Armegodden got but they were the replacement for the failed replacements so I think the ship has sailed fir the orgiobal Sky Scouge. Also..the fansite says they are refeencing warships in the final fa task series. I am not familiar enough to know but if that's the case, it's awesome but weird that doesn't get them more hype. I had never heard that before.

Maybe one day Lyna and Dharc will have their familiars receive their effect retrains and awakening of the possessed forms soon, since every charmer has a link form. We might even get channeler versions of lyna and dharc too at some point. Still don't have the (insert adjective) lyna/dharc like we have for the others (raging eria or storming wynn for example) maybe these cards will be in a structure deck R for the charmers if that ever happens

Charmers definitely deserve an R structure deck. At this point, just skip all other SDs that came before it and do an R SD for them with some Lyna and Dharc supports and a boss monster.

Damn, the Dark creator only needs 4 words to fix it, right at the very end, "ignoring it's summoning conditions". Boom, immediately playable. Dump 5 dark monsters to grave, summon creator, activate him to summon something crazy you pitched, then drop DAD, and immediately popped 3 things from their field.

I think it doesn't work like that. To summon monsters (from the GY specifically) that cannot be Special Summoned except by a Summoning Condition, they must have been properly summoned before by fulfilling that condition. So if you just seny DAD to the GY with foolish burial you would still not be able to revive it with your errata'd Dark Creator

Happy Lover wasn't the only one without a new form, Dharc's familiar Metabat also never received its evolved form. Not only that, both never got their awakened familiar forms either, and Dharc still does not have his Familiar-Possessed alt art. Plus, now, with Eria finally getting her Channeler form, Dharc and Lyna are left without a Channeler form. When will Konami ever complete this set or, better yet, make better supports for them

the creator dit get a achetype. agent archtype uses the creator retrain synchro's. the creator is the boss of the agent archtype in a way. if you think about it, it does fit lorewise. the agents all moniter their respected planet, but the creator reprisends the sun, the center of the solar system. and made everything the agents monitor.

Not exactly a counterpart, but Quinton (V) cards have not been receiving legacy supports, unlike his brothers III (Chronomaly Vimana) and IV with the recent gimmick puppet FTK. The harsh truth, last support of V's card is Arcjet Lightcraft in 2018, and has heavy Machine restriction. The abyssmal and lack of support are possibly because back then, True King Calamity (Very Fun Dragon/VFD) was the meta central, and shared the rank 9 with V boss monster Dyson Sphere. TL;DR: Quinton (V) cards got shadow nerfed by VFD

Dark Mirror Force could have been much better if YuGiOh allowed you to activate it while your opponent has no defense position monsters. You could then chain an effect to put your opponents monster into defense position (which would activate first due to how chaining works) and then Dark Mirror Force would banish them. (I.E. opponents attacks, you acitvate Dark Mirror Force, then chain activate Book of Eclipse, and now every non-link monster on your opponents field is banished). In reality, Dark Mirror Force only activates if they have a defense position monster the moment they declare an attack with another.

ever since Master Duel gave us the surveys to rate our experience with the game, since day 1 I was always asking them to give the 2 big Ruin forms summon animations as well. I dont think Demise should get 2 and Ruin 0. Also the Memento archetype has to be one of my favorites of all time at least conceptually, Konami is really good with doing these references to older monsters and now you can literally look at every old vanilla monster and point at it and say "you should become a memento monster"

18:41 -Bakura doesn't really play DM. He is an RPG guy with Yami Baki also enjoying that but using duel monsters as it was closer to what he did in ancient Egypt. Nice Baki would play a D&D game he enjoyed but Yami made his characrer into a zorc themes evil dungeon master and put his friends into a coma while playing. They cut this stuff with season zero in the dub and replaced it with the duel monsters version where they become their favorite cards. In the origional, they became their own RPG characters based on their personalities, with Tea as a mage, Joey as a warrior, Tristin as a Magic Gunsman and Yugi as a magical beast trainer. A very simailr thing went down with Atem acting as player and Thief king doing the same in his side but nice Bakura making attents to help in multiple ways. Yami Bakura hides this for while through acts that just make him look insane. Regs Baki gains control if his left hand and starts moving on its own, throwing purposely bad dice rolls ect, since he is an actual expert in that genre of game. Yami laughs uncontrollable before slamming that hand down on the miniature castle tower, implying it to Atem's shock. Of course Regs Baki is able to be brought in as a seperate entity and helps them overcome his evil possessor. They call back to this with the final villain battle of the series takingbup most of the arch as an RPG recreating the events in Ancient Egypt. This is still in the dub as the Millenium World/Dawn of the Duel arch. In here Yams Bak basically does an RPG omaging thier first encounter only in that form thanks to Baki (again, cut in the dub so it makes less sense..) but since it's a recreation of the Egypt events, they basically have dueling as a mini game within the RPG. Its funny because the origional run had a bunch more games with characters having their own specialty. It was Weird because Duke Devlin was brought in and Capsul monsters the spinoff made after killing this aspect of existing characrers off. It's extra funny because both the capsul monster spin-off and Dungeon Dice Monsters are heavily inspired by Capsul Monster Chess which was Mokuba's game. He did not have his own duel monsters deck but was the equivalent to Kaiba in the CMC game. Joey's big growth was shown to be learning duel monsters but he was also proven to just be a genius at fighting video games. Yugi himself was being mentored under him in one story. A Bruce Lee fan boy asshole beat Yugi up for his quarters saying he had no right to play that kind fo game then challenged Joey to a genuinly dangerous real life fight handicapped agaisnt Joey for Yug's honor. He had to fight woth both hands in his sweatshirt pocket and holding a knight point inward in his mouth. Joey had been going to get Yugi a soda so he shook it with fancy doing footwork, opened it to spray in the assholes eyes and then headbutted him for the KO. He reveals that he has enough real world experience in fighting to make the video game versions a piece of cake. Tristin is an accomplished crack shot in shooting games like Lazer tag and beat two hired professional mercenaries im a surprize Quickdraw with a little help from his perverted baby nephew. Tea is naturally a DDR queen and while Yugi is a general master, he takes special affinity to tamagotchi style games. They gave Tea and Tristin decks when they went heavy focus into duel monsters but each character initially had their own specialty game. Only the ones felt most required it got a decent and these were still much less fleshed out than the main users. We would eventually get a heroclix style RPG game to simulate the nice Bakura specialty muuuuch later but it also flopped due to the pricing and being well past its prime for popularity. They also were more a fusion of the dub and OG version as you played with duel monsters instead of origional chatacters you leveled up. It was hero clicks so less a true RPG but the closest thing we would get.

I had to do it this way since I like to have something between the clashing backgrounds of the card art on the left and right, so the cutout of Supreme Ruin seemed like the best fit. I'm not sure how far this video reached outside my subscriber-base, but most of the comments are probably from regular viewers. Her inclusion might seem more jarring if this was your first video. She was my cohost from my anime lists, joined when I first started doing YGO content since she we also spoke about the anime in those lists. People (and I) liked her opinions on the cards since she had no idea how to play the game and just judged on the art, so it contrasted me or my other cohosts who went into game mechanics. Ever since, people request her back in the YGO videos. When we're almost solely focused on game mechanics, like our list on Boss Archetypes that played poorly in the irl card game, she tends to sit out.
