A couple of things mate - the front diff does breath at that point but I pulled that rubber cap off and extended it to my breather block, only because I'm not confident that air can breath back in at that point after it gets covered in crap after a few years. As you've explained the whole point of breathers is to be able to let air back in easily at that first moment when you hit cold water rather than suck water in via seals. Likewise for the auto trans breather which comes up pretty high behind the engine, but I extended it the short distance to the breather block - fuel hose worked best for this to get it over the lip of the metal tube. The transfer and the black 4wd actuator box at the rear of the transfer both breath to the adaptor section between the gearbox and the transfer - this is all good for letting air back in when you first hit the water but if you get stuck in water it could potentially fill the breather hoses with water and cause issues. I managed to fit my hand up there and joined my new breather hose to the existing hoses and all went well. Tight fit but taking the exhaust heat shield off the bottom off the floor made it work. I was a bit pedantic with all this but if you're going to do it, may as well do it properly.

Tremendous content brother. I’m picking up a new MR triton next month and have decided to do a lot of upgrades myself thanks to your videos. Keep up the great work 👍

Hey mate I have a mr triton and I had similar issues with the bash plates but I have 3 pieces kit from custom off-road and works perfect and highly recommend

Good video. I went with a Harrop breather kit and had professionally installed. Did my diffs and transmission/transfer and they ran it into the airbox. I also installed TJM underbody protection when I got the Bullbar and steps. I'm glad I did now after seeing this video.

@@mrtriton5405 we all just need a hoist! Got a Harrop locker fitted and they only charged an extra $250 for the breathers installed at the same time. No brainer for me and saved my back! Btw, loving your videos mate!

Mate, with your rear diff, did you reinsert the factory valve that was in the white plastic housing you modified, or leave it out?

Hey man love your content, just a bit curious, you’re worried about voiding warranty with a catch can but you have no issues installing aftermarket breathers, would this not also have the same likelihood of voiding warranty? Cheers ❤

Lol it has nothing to do with metallurgy . Steel doesn't expand and contact that much. It's the air inside the diff expanding and contracting .

On my old kun26r hilux before I upgraded to the triton, I did the same thing bottom out on a tree stump on the front diff. Ended up cracking the front diff case, cost me $3k to replace.

Did you use a single hex socket? Don't ever use an impact with double hex sockets. Good video, gonna do mine now.

What was the outcome with the transfer case and gearbox breathers mate? Was thinking it could be accessed by pulling out the centre console and removing the plate there?

@@mrtriton5405 Well that's a bugger. I wonder what the workaround would be? Maybe deliberately level down those clips so they sound too low and then they might be Ok after the upload? Otherwise love the content!

Every diff has a factory breather, they need them in order to function correctly. Some just need to be extended to higher position in order to stay dry when going through water crossings.. That is the purpose of this ARB diff breather kit.
