Some 300 or 400mm long metal zip ties are also helpful -for broken brackets (eg exhaust ones).

A most enjoyable, and informative video. Over the last 20 years we have done 5 laps of Australia. In both a caravan off road and now , an off road campervan. In all this time in both vehicles we have used a carbon block Water filter for all our water. No matter where I source my water It always tastes the same. You are absolutely correct when you say What you did regarding your coffee taste. To me that is the real test The taste or your tea or coffee . Have a safe journey home.

Got the answer for your cold nights in the roof top, a built in diesel heater, works a treat. We had -2° on York Peninsula recently, cracked the heater into gear, very comfortable +28° right thru to when the sun appeared, thoring the frost from around us, then we got outa bed, dressed in a warm environment, it was well past 5.30am I gotta say, 😅 more like 8.30am 😂, it twas icey cold. One other couple got up early packed up their cub camper with ice all over the canvas, they both appeared very cold from start to finish, brrr. We do the electric blanket too as it initially warms the bed on cool nights, but then there's the heater on bloody cold nights. Install one, you'll thank me once you do it. Be sure to recirculate the warm air within the tent, seen other installs where they suck in outside air to heat, hence lower heated temp as ambient air is colder, plus you pressurise the internal air also. Utilises bugger all diesel as its a very small area to heat. Enjoy.

I have a Landcruiser in NZ Aus well as one in Aus, both have 2 spare tires. Would never just have one as I have used both spares twice. They couldn’t be fixed with plugs which is always my first option. If you damage a tyre it takes a lot of stress off if you have a spare spare. We did the Canning with 4 Troopys, 3 had standard fuel tanks and got to the 1/2 way community for refueling with no issues. We did not carry spare fuel.

Luke, a great series mate and surely you can turn these into Drifta Promos to get more sales on your fantastic range of gear.. and have a chance to do more on the road! A memorable trip I am sure for you both as well as the kiwi boys and of course Uncle Richard being introduced to your audience! Thank you and looking forward to the next series mate! Very practical and honest in all your vids and that sir is why we have enjoyed so much! Stay safe !

Spot on there @tonyf7997 - couldn’t agree more! Luke’s no BS honesty and authenticity (keeping it real) has, for me, been the main reason I enjoyed this series so much. The range of Drifta products that have been so functional and effective in such a harsh environment as the CSR undoubtedly are similarly reliable, practical and honest! I’ve already compiled a decent list of products that I’ll purchase over the next 12 months, as cashflow permits. Great comment, and thanks Luke @DriftaCamping4WD for such an inspirational series.

@@DriftaCamping4WD it's just a generic model I got online. The main unit is solar powered (stuck on the windscreen), but the capacitor can also be charged via a mini-USB cable. It's sensors are about 1psi out compared to the reading I get from my ARB digital tyre gauge, but I can work with that.

Great advice thanks Luke. I wish I could turn the tyre pressure monitor off in my car too! So many alarms on modern cars that it becomes annoying - especially in WA where it's mostly sand/beach driving on reduced pressure. Best advice you gave was about the availability of services, particularly in Broome at peak tourist time. I don't think visitors realise how difficult it is to get vehicle and van repairs, servicing, medical appointments and often even fresh vegetables. If you're going to be in Broome from May to October, I strongly recommend booking your accommodation and any services you require well in advance - where you know what you want of course. Emergency? Good luck with that!

Richard said you are stretching his memory a bit 🙂 was it at boarding school, Griffith house or St Phillips collage or was it pastoral station? He is trying hard to figure out who you are, he has a few names in mind 🙂 Those radios he remembers out on the stock camps, they used to throw the wire over the tree to get signal. He is happy that you enjoyed watching the Canning trip and that it brought back some good memories 🙂

Good video - thanks. I've had good results with an internal tyre pressure monitoring system called Pro-Mata. Got it from a mob up in Sydney for about $400 I reckon. I much prefer the internal monitors. For desert travel you can set the low pressure warning very low. I think we had it at 10PSI or something like that. Easy to increase it again when you leave sand and get back onto corrugations.

Best water filters are pretty good but you need a water pump or mains pressure
@ianweal3081
@ianweal3081 11 ай бұрын
Nah, just utilise filter to fill tank/bladders from mains, then the water stored is filtered. I utilise a Stefani 0.6 micron filter, claimed to reduce taste & odour, we can verify it appears to do just that, removes taste. Having said that, I do filter all water storage water as explained above, but I do utilise water pump to pressurise my delivery. By doing that I can pressurise drinking water through a second built in inline filter, hence drinking water is filtered twice, even artesian based supply found in outback communities tastes fine once I filter it in, then pass thru second inline filter prior to drinking. Works for us, never been sick from stored water, in van or vehicle. Coffee always tastes great, especially from our onboard pod m/c.

Yeah mate bushman 85litres are junk, i purchased one before i hit the road and bench tested it in my kitchen, under perfect conditions. Same thing happened after 21days. I was extremely unhappy.. contacted bushman fridges directly and expressed my concern but explained i would test it again. Guess what after 24 days if froze over again and stopped cooling.. no questions asked after my second complaint and i got a full refund.. very fortunate for me as i had not yet fit out my canopy. I ended up with the 95lt engle upright and built the canopy pantry around it. Been on the road for over 9months with no product issues. My daughter once left the door open while in transit for 9hrs and once at camp i noticed,. That night everything froze inside as there was alot of moisture from fridge working overtime. So i de frosted it in the morning.. apart from operator error the engel 95litre is far better than bushman 85.. im currently running 2x 40litre engles and 1x 95litre engle and theyve stod up to expectations
