Lead guitar, Doctor Brian May --astrophysicist. Freddie-degree in graphic art. Drummer, Roger Taylor - degree in biology. Bass guitarist, John Deakon - degree in engineering. All of these guys are successful songwriters, top musicians, and great singers. Brilliant band.

Also Deacon hated the limelight so its rare you ll find the camera focused on him you ll see him in the background and thats just the way he liked it. Also when Freddie died he was the only band member to say fuck it no i am not carrying on without him.Brian and Roger both continued the queen band on with various quest singers as recently as 2019 they did a world tour with Lambert from Americas got talent. I prefer to remember them as they were instead of what they became.

Good God! That means, I mean... I dunno. If Queen could keep up that kind of intensity all shownite? Well, I can't even imagine. I've been a live performer myself (as a drummer in various cover bands) and we would always save showstoppers for... Well, the stopping of a show. If you know what I mean. Of course, we were never on the level of Queen, but... From the regards of Freddie's piano, I just assumed he'd been singing and drinking all night long. Pure magic, at any rate. And, just for fun, check out how supercool Roger Taylor is.

Thankfully for Freddie, he had two people that loved him for a very long time, until the day he died. The woman that was once his fiancé and the guy that was his partner for many years. It was still a sad ending for him. But he had TWO people who devoted their entire lives to him, and that's about the only comfort in his untimely passing.

But Freddy's best vocal performance is also one of his last ones. The Show Must Go On. Recorded when he was basically dying. Bryan May was quoted as saying "Fred, I don't know if you can do this one." and Freddie downed a glass of vodka and said "I'll fucking do it, darling" and absolutely *crushed* it in one take. Legendary.

The 11/24/81 concert was 10 years to the day before Freddie died. The Blu Ray is about $15 on Amazon, with the CD being roughly $20. The Blu Ray also comes with Queen's Live Aid performance. The first time I saw the entire concert, I needed a cigarette, and I (at the time), hadn't had a smoke in 5 years. It's that damn good. BTW: I'll be 7 years smoke-free on January 11th. :)

In 2016, a group of Austrian, Czech, and Swedish researchers conducted research about Freddie's voice, and while they couldn’t confirm the long-held belief that his range spanned four full octaves, they did discover that despite being known as a tenor, he was more likely a baritone. They also found that Freddie's vocal cords moved faster than most people’s. While a typical vibrato will fluctuate between 5.4 Hz and 6.9 Hz, Mercury’s was a massive 7.04 Hz. All in all, Freddie Mercury had one of the most powerful voices ever known.

The studio version came across as a gospel styled take on Bohemian Rhapsody, but live it always sounded more powerful and soulful. I've probably watched this live Montreal version 100 times and I'm always blown away by it. All four guys bring their A-game as usual, but Roger Taylor's drumming and support vocals are next level on this and Freddie takes no prisoners with his astounding vocals. Hope that you & those close to you have a wonderful Christmas.

Ladies and gentlemen Freddie EFFING Mercury! I usually hate when people who aren’t the original artists to cover the songs but Cody Belew sang this one on The Voice and it gave me chills and I know Freddie would be very proud.

Gonna hit you in your feelies...Go back and watch him hit that long high note towards the end....when he hits the high note, look at his right cheek very closely (well his left, but your right) you will see an actual tear roll down it. He was truly feeling what he was singing. Don't know if you have heard his operatic high note voice, but if you'd like to hear him exercising his soprano notes, listen to "Exercises in Free Love" he sounds like an angel 👼, and at first will have a hard time believing it's him, but you'll his grit come in here and there. It will be one of the most beautiful things you've ever heard. If I've had a bad day and just need to calm down and breathe, that's my go to song.

I don't think so. Nothing spectacular has come from Queen since Freddie 'left the room'. The most money making effort was the movie and it is fraught with factual errors and implications and drama focused on Freddie's pain . . . not his majesty and Most magnificent humanity and drive. But that doesn't take away from all the respect we have for each of the Queen 'boy's outstanding musicianship.... which their work and accolades support. Freddie's piano, singing in every genre, writing and people skills took Queen to the top of the mountain and kept the there - individually and collectively.

@@nyima04011 He surely treasured their togetherness - said it profusely. I've felt if they did break up he'd be heart broken; they were family to him. Actually I think 'Freddie didn't FEEL his best without John, Roger and Brian'. He was fabulous tho' with Dave Clark's project and, with Montserrat.

@@marvalstith2749 "Freddie's piano, singing in every genre, writing and people skills took Queen to the top of the mountain" true, but that wouldn't have been possible without Brian and Roger... keeping him in check and keeping Queen a rock band at the core. Without BM and RT, Freddie on his own would have been somewhere between Elton John and Michael Jackson, which is way below Queen standards of music quality.

@@roverwaters3875 That's the real fact to deal with . . . 'Queen remaining a rock band' . . . Freddie letting his inner musicianship evolve may no doubt have led to 'no more Queen', evidenced by the 'bands' publicised dislike of Hot Space. Freddie had from the beginning brought new perspective to the four of them. That was Freddie Mercury. Hope you can see the interview where Freddie was told what Brian said about Hot Space. Freddie says, "he said that? in such visible shock that I tear up remembering. Cause Fred's reaction told me - his inner self admitted if he wanted to explore 'music' he'd have to face doing it without Queen. His look broke my heart. But God had other plans for Freddie...he became HIV infected; learned of Montserrart and produced that perfection AND he had enough of life remaining to do all he could to help Queen continue without him. Montserrat helped him come to terms with being able to die at peace with himself spiritually and musically. Sorry, it's the day after Christmas; one of my prized gifts was the vinyl of 'Mr. Bad Guy'. God is Good. Happy New Year @Rover Waters. and thanks for the conversation.
