This is soo incredible how you have put this together. It is super informative! I love the PACIFC NORTHWEST HIKES. You really showcase the trail experience.

Thank you for taking the time to do all these videos. We are transplants from Boston to Seattle and we are really enjoying all the PNW has to offer. These are a great resource for us. Our oldest son (age 5) loves to hike and has championed some great hikes so far. He also has autism, so for us to watch these videos and preview the hike is really helpful, Thank you!

Thank you Kerri! It's wonderful to hear these hikes are helping you and your family out. Fun fact. Jen was never really into hiking until she met me. Now she is the one that does most of the research when looking for a new hike and won't let me go alone any more. :)

Thanks for taking us along. It's been years since I've been up Pilchuck. Now I spend most of my summer in the North Cascades, Mt Baker and Pasayten areas.

We've started exploring the North Cascades...really impressive place. Going to have to spend more time up there.

I've watched a handful of your video hikes, and I think you've done a wonderful job of filming and overview on sharing all one would need to know about conditions and preparation. Also calling out the names of the peaks on the circumference of your viewing points. Thank you, Robert

It is on the list. I will save for a mid-week like I do. Looks just incredible up there.

I bet mid-week is an amazing time to have places like these to yourself. The hike gets really good once you break out of the forest. Enjoy!

You forgot to tell the viewers that this was once a favorite local ski Mtn. I think it once had 2 lifts, lodge, ski school etc. The low elevation along with a few warm winters created some problem and in 1980 it was shut down 😢
@OutsideAndStuff8 жыл бұрын
Wow! Neither of us knew about this. How interesting. I do know some people who will still skinn up and ski down the south face.

Great job, you two. I'm setting up my spring/summer 2022 hikes and this one is definitely on the list! Love your narrative, very informative. Also the filming is good. Useful information regarding your progress up the trail, etc. (times and temp, etc) . Good job!

Thank you so much for the video. It helps my wife and I get a look at the trial before going as she is afraid of heights and trails with no trees on either side. So this can save me a car trip or set as a hike to do :-)

You guys are awesome! I live in the area and learn so much from your videos. I would love to see Jen’s reading list someday - the story about Snoqualm, the date when the fire outlook was decommissioned - she’s so knowledgeable! I wish I had hiking buddies like you! I’d have to have buddies first lol

Luckily...I am a florist.....not. Too many regulations in that part of the country...due to too many people. Beautiful promontory...would be a cool place to live...hard to believe a ranger used to be posted there. Great job dudes!
@OutsideAndStuff8 жыл бұрын
Especially in the wintertime when it's covered in ice and snow. But then again, I don't think there would be a need since it's primary purpose was for fires? I should have spent more time reading the historic plaques on the inside. :)

@OutsideAndStuff8 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. But Jen has her "Peak Bagger" app and needs to summit them all. :)
@ecthelion17358 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure Rattlesnake Ledge is the second most popular, behind Si. Pilchuck is still crazy though -- go on a weekday though, and it's not terrible.
@hoolaj16377 жыл бұрын
Would this be a good hike, for someone that has never hiked before? Thanks
@OutsideAndStuff7 жыл бұрын
I would maybe look for another hike as your first hike as this one is very strenuous and can be a little tricky to stay on the trail and not get lost. Currently there is a lot of snow on Pilchuck and there have been numerous rescues in the recent days, so you would want to wait it out either way. If you are going to make an attempt on Pilchuck, check the trip reports and go once the snow clears. www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/mount-pilchuck

great video; i was wondering what pilchuck was like. how do you keep your video so steady?
@OutsideAndStuff8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! My camera movement is one of two things. First I have a lcd viewer on the back of my gopro, and when I walk, I watch the viewer to make sure I am holding the shot as steady as possible. Secondly, I will do a little stabilization in post pro if the shake is too much.

@OutsideAndStuff8 жыл бұрын
We've done it several times a couple years ago. But the crowds are horrible on the weekends. Even if you make sumit at the crack of dawn, getting down is already a traffic jam. However, I hear there is a scramble route up from Little Si. I might need to look further into that...

That roads been closed forever. I know the Heather Lake trail very well and area around that, and the road, but have yet to go on that exact trail. Think they are currently fixing the road up too, as the whole road up use to be super messed up. I wish they would fix other roads nearby, but those trails would also be crowded so maybe its a good thing.
