Wallace falls was my first PNW hike as well. The entire world of hiking and backpacking opened up to me from there.

Nick & Jen, upon scrambling through the backcountry of outdoor videos that seem to flood KZbin, your site caught my eye. Mostly it was the series of hikes you had in the Olympic Mtns. My mountains, since the early 60's when I discovered the answer to that timeless 5yo question "is bear scat edible" but enough about me. I thoroughly enjoy ALL your videos I have seen so far. You get right to the point of hiking and waste 10 to 15 minutes explaining the ins and outs of all your equipment...lol. I think we all know what a tent is and how many different ways is there really to making a fire? I appreciate the different perspectives you show and really enjoy the narration. I'm over a half century old and have been here my whole life and have hiked many places. You both may not know it, but you have a way of pumping new life into an old hike and I appreciate that. Keep up the good work, I'll be tailing you for awhile... :-)

Thank you for your kind words, Ron! There's something special about being out in the mountains here in the PNW. Hopefully we can capture the experience and look back on these videos and remember how amazing it was to hike that trail or summit that mountain. :)

Love finding great informational videos like these on the Trails! I'm from Indiana so our hiking is way different from yours! Helping us scale what we can handle when we come up for a visit!

Did a solo hike up to Lake Wallace a few years back now... Got a very late start from the trail head and knew nightfall was going to come long before I could make camp at the northern edge of the lake. As darkness set in I felt a pain at the top of my head. Sure enough I had been 'swooped' by a barrow owl. That I would encounter these predatory beasts was not a surprise... that it would follow me along the trail for the next 1/2 mile certainly was. To call them 'territorial' would be an understatement. Next day I set out North to find an elusive lake that may or may not exist, compliments of some random comment from wta.org. Never did find the mystery lake by, but I did almost manage to get myself lost. Heading back to the trail head via the old railroad trail I spied a cougar at the base of the ravine some 50ft down from the trail. There were 2 other hikers in the vicinity who saw the same thing. They pulled out their phones to take pictures whilst I hastily moved along, trying to create as much distance between myself & those who could run slower than I. P.S. If this story seems to fanciful check the ranger reports. don't stop exploring, just be prepared for what you might find.

It's clear where Wash. St. spends its money on parks. They sprung for the cost of signs = i.e. "You Can Fall Off These Cliffs & DIE If You Get Too Close To The Edge." After 2 people Drowned at Palouse Falls on the East Side this year. Thanks.

The video and audio on your clip is great. But as the guy who recorded it. you must admit it cannot capture the smell and feeling. Whenever I go into the forests anywhere. I am always overpowered by how deeply a forest touches your inner being. Always come out of the woods feeling richer.
