Nah, my old phones (2010 Samsung Galaxy Y Pro and 2012 Samsung Galaxy S Duos) still have a low resolution and usually strong overexposure. Editing apps can't just turn them HD.

Actually software can make a huge difference. For example the gcam mod for LG v20 dramatically improves the quality of pictures. I'd say software is almost as important as the hardware.

Nokia have always had pride in having good cameras on phones even the 2007 nokia n95 had a 5MP camera whereas the iphone that came out the same year only had a 2MP camera.

Since when do numbers matter? I remember when the N95 came out and people were crazy that it had a 5mpx camera. You have decent phones which have 108mpx cameras which are not that much better than a 48mpx camera from a simpler phone. Case in point see the redmi 8 vs redmi note 10 pro and the poCo F3 and you'll see that the poco with its puny little 64mpx blows the others out of the water

@Geff I think it's all te way around, because a $160 phone nowadays is better than a 3 year old flagship, budget phones have gotten better than ever. take the redmi note 8 for instance it's about to be released globally, that phone is as powerful as the galaxy s7 edge as the benchmarks and general usage reveal, and you get quad camera setup with 48 megapixel main camera, wide camera, depth sensor and macro lens camera. you also still get updates and battery lasts forever. and that talking about a $160 phone you can go for the redmi note 8 pro for $200 and that thing is a bit more powerful than the s8 plus, and has way better camera too. so I think it is better to buy a budget phone every year or every two instead of a really good one every 4-5 years.

But my Pocophone holds up for the whole day and it's perfectly fine. And I know I will probably get tired of it in 2 years so I'll get a better phone with a better camera, battery, 5G or whatever is the mainstream technology then.

I have the same phone....and here is my experience in 10 points 1.get 60fps(medium setting) gaming with android 10 (game driver enabled) 2.best camera for a budget phone(can be enhanced using SR camera) 3.for me the battery lasted for about 2 days(normal usage with 2 hours of games) 4.ram is quite low...so sometimes the apps dont respond 5.very fragile(can be broken even with a single drop on a rough surface like an uneven road) 6.takes 2 seconds to open all normal apps like WhatsApp,IG,and all others 7.has a good display for its price 8.less brightness but great viewing angles 9.has good speakers...but not for outdoors(exception of ringtone) 10.WORTH THE MONEY

Idk man but i think 3-4 years are too young. Because they can upload everything and still don't know the consequences. There are a lot of children out there getting exposed in the internet at a young age. I got my first smartphone when I got in 5th grade and it was perfectly fine for me, I was there around about 10 years old. I want my phones to last longer as long as its good enough for occasional Facebook and web browsing. I don't play mobile games, coz they suck and are bloated with IAP. For video and photos, I'd rather use a 35mm sensor instead of apertures and lens smaller than a ballpen point. I'd rather enjoy Shadow of Tomb raider instead of crappy Pubg mobile or COD mobile. People have their own preferences. Due to outcry from stupid isheep fans, we no longer have luxury to replace even simple things like a battery, and consist of back glass that takes $600 to repair which will eventually break.

I still have a Galaxy Y2, I realise it's pretty much at the end of it's lifespand and starting to become underpowered to play even very basic games, and I look at the features of this Nokia phone (which is already expensive to me as I am not rich) and I am seeing gigantic leap in how far cheapest segment phones have come in the past 5 years, both compared to their older counterparts and compared to the flagships. Let's not forget it was only 5 years ago the Y2 released for the lowest end of the market, for around 60€. My main worry when getting a new phone isn't the power, or the camera (though a nice camera would be nice) or how good the screen is, it's how durable it is. The Y2 is rediculously durable; I've dropped this thing at least multiple times a month and it doesn't even have a scratch after years of usage. Is there any kind of similar durability I can get in current phones? I can't really find a lot of good durability metrics on the newer extra low budget phones (120€ or less), especially not compared to an older and unpopular model like the Y2. Does anyone have some good advice to give around durability with the above context, in the extra low budget range?

Yep, for what you need, the Nokia phones are it. Lots of phones nowadays are glass backs, which is not durable at all unless u stick an extra thick case on it... So you need a copact, rigid phone idealy made from polycarbonate (plastic) or aluminum.

Been using this phone for seven months. It's a solid phone, the battery is good and I've even dropped it in water twice and it's been fine. Cameras are fine for everyday snapping. The only downside is the 16bg of internal storage it's nowhere near enough although you can expand via a micro SD.

As great as budget and mid range phones these days I always go to the used market I found a lot of good deals on flagship devices for as low as half the price on current flagships and third on last year ones Sony devices become a great price to performance deals at used markets in Germany I was able to buy Like new xz premium for my mother for 130 euros open box but unused xz3 for 250 And s8 plus very little use for 250 I believe it's the better option if you have the patience and the experience to be sure that it's a good deal or not Some still have warranty left I don't know if its the same in other countries

Buy a previous gen flagship for around the same price. I'm planning on fixing up an Essential PH-1 that can be found for pretty cheap used or refurbished. I got the Moto Z for under $100 and I really wish I got the G5 but it's still pretty good value considering it's stock Android and an AMOLED display.
