I had a G5 for years and it's a surprisingly good phone. Not only one of the last decently-specced phones with both a headphone jack and a removable battery, but the fact the battery is so easy to remove and can even be charged outside of the phone is outstanding. The screen is great for the time and had LG built upon it and created an ecosystem of multiple phones with interchangeable (and useful) modules, perhaps the gimmick might've worked. My only gripes would be the large resolution with such a small battery and the weird form factor of the phone itself, which made finding cases and other accessories for it a nightmare, especially after a few years. But I do miss smaller flagships with removable batteries.

i bought the LG G5 because it was the only seemingly reasonable smartphone that i kud find with a user-replaceable battery. a user-replaceable battery is my top priority in a smart phone. sadly the phone had so many bugs that i didn't buy multiple ones and when the screen failed from cracking when dropping, i'm just not interested in fixing it. too many software bugs. 😢 But i absolutely loved the removable battery. sadly i've had a few times that it just spontaneously turned off on me. i assume because the battery supply was disconnected unintentionally, but it didn't happen too much to be horrid. overall, i loved it with one dooming problem: software bugs. 😢

How does the fire phone get higher than blackberry when blackberry literally went from 50% market share to bankrupt? That should be a 10/10

I had one from 2016 till earlier this year (2022) when Sprint had to shut down their 4G networks . Never had a big issue with the batteries until I started listing to music throughout the day. I honestly enjoyed just how easy it was to fix on my own, no glue to worry about and parts where cheap. Hell eventually the board went out due to vape leakage and by then it was cheap enough to just buy another G5 and have a parts phone. Almost wish I could've gotten the modules but, I could never justify the price of 'em with how I actually used it

It didn't help that the battery life was bad and necessitated swapping batteries. It came in handy vs the battery being not changeable but a better battery was needed.

@@AnonymityAyeah, I was a heavy LG phone user as well before they went under. Had a G3, G4, G5 and then a LG Stylus as my last one. After that I switched to some older model Galaxies and LOVED the S8 Active, but they don't make active models anymore. Probably would still be using it if the sim card internal reader didn't stop working. Since 2020 I've been using Motorola phones and they're pretty decent now, midrange nothing fancy but they work. I really miss the 2012-2018 era of every new phone being leaps and bounds better. Now it's barely noticeable to me.

Blackberry had the best security though on their phones which is why apparently government agencies used them. I think they still might. You can still use a blackberry, they just cut off tech support and patch and security updates, but they still work good. My friend's company phones were blackberries up until the pandemic started and they ended up upgrading and using encrypted communications through an app now.

No the battery gate thing didn't actually improve the battery in fact it harmed the battery. As instead of actually slowing down the system they just made the chips go ham on nothingness. Making their older phones much warmer much slower and their batteries both degraded faster and died faster. Apple is a smart enough company where this decision was most certainly to make people switch to newer phones.

It isn't actually. The 3Ds Has a fixed perspective 3D effect which gives depth to objects by allowing each of your eyes to see a different image, which normally occurs due to parallax. The amazon fire phone changes the perspective of the image displayed on the screen based on the angle of the screen to your face.

No, apple's reasoning was "if we slow their devices down to a crawl they'll have to upgrade to a new device". The blatant *excuse* they gave was battery life longevity. This is much more in line with the type of thing apple would do.

I feel like apple has to much money to care if you have a iPhone 6 instead of the 13
@world_machine2 жыл бұрын
In actuality, this is against Apple’s ideas only because they’re focusing a lot on subscriptions now. There’s always the risk a consumer will switch away from iPhone when they become dissatisfied with its performance, so Apple has actually made an effort to keep iPhones in the running as long as possible, because every iPhone is a portal to Apple Music, iCloud+, Apple TV and all the other subscriptions they’re hoping on being the future for them (phone sales across the board are slowly declining, this is their plan to respond). Still very scummy they never gave you the option to turn off throttling in the first place, but it at least makes some sense?
@FireFoxDestroyer2 жыл бұрын
Would apple want a reputation of devices crashing after about 6 years?
@morgan02 жыл бұрын
no the reasoning is preventing current exceeding what the battery can provide, which falls as the battery ages. would you rather have a phone that’s slower but the battery life is still decent and it works, or a phone that when you try to do too much, shuts down with no warning? i think most people would rather have the former, as undercurrent shutdowns would prevent heavy workloads more than it being slower
@humilulo Жыл бұрын
@@morgan0 , and you know this to be true, how or why? it seems that you assume too much. *shrug* I wud not prefer either one of your options. when people give a dichotomy of only two choices, it is almost always a false dichotomy. i'd prefer a third option: let me choose. duh. but Apple is so horrible in my opinion that i have never had one and i never want a company deciding for me what is best for me. i utterly disagree with their entire 'we know what's best for you' facade.

had lg g5 as well after a few years of taking the batteries in and out constantly throughout every day to switch out, the bottom tabs wore out completely and made a hole in the battery had to buy new batteries which had the original satisfying strong click when i first got it i finally lost my lg g5 over a cpu overheat and broken screen (possibly the ribbon cable? theres no cracks or anything) while trying to render a video if i boot it up now, all youll see is rainbow static i can say for certain that my lg g5 was amazing and i absolutely loved it

@PROXY isnt that a faulty battery? try buying a new one if the red led goes off when plugged in, it means its fully discharged so first try leaving it to charge for an hour if you have an external charger, use that just to be sure its not the phone base/phone after that, check the voltage with the written value with a multimeter

If HTC was still around I’d probably be a fanboy. Man they made gorgeous phones and I’ve had some of them

I had the HTC One, I absolutely loved it. I loved everything about it. The looks, the typical HTC interface, and especially the sound quality.

Yes, the original BoomSound was a big hit. I had one in black. I replaced it with the U11, which was again a really good phone with awesome sounds provided by the Usonic.
